This might be one of the most creative videos Masako has done in a while and I love it.

I love the idea of movie 2 becoming a Mortal Kombat/Enter the Dragon tournament plot line with the kidnapped fighters. It would have given the OG Dragon Ball fighters a much clearer send-off rather than just ignoring them

I need some MasakoX Movie Timeline Krillin and Zangya Stat. Also Black haired Trunks, *Especially* in the boujack clothes. I need this Hopium.

I actually would like a long multi part story from this. Also since Turles is with Bulma in this timeline, Future Trunks is gonna be a tall guy because Turles is taller than Vegeta plus with a possible unique hair style, and extremely smart because Turles is a smart cookie in his own right.

Love it ! At first, I wasn’t a fan of Turles turning good but hey, we did need Trunks to exist (though not sure why his hair would now be black) and not only does Bulma X Turles sounds like a fun ship, I do like the idea of Turles joining the good guys and having a family while retaining some of his sinister yet kind of chill behavior. Sounds fun.

I would honestly love to see more of Zangya in these. Honestly when I was younger I had a bit of a crush on her in the games (yes I didn't see Bojak til later in my life.) She really is one of the better looking females and feel she would have been a more interesting and fun coupling with the Krill dog. :D

I talked to a friend a few weeks ago about how we can't call GT, Super's Anime or Super's Manga canon and noncanon but different continuities. Then we also talked about the movies. I showed him a video where someone explained why certain movies can't happen which explained how certain movies were very similar. Garlic Jr was similar to Raditz showing up, kidnapping Gohan and making Goku & Piccolo team up Turles was similar to Vegeta, an evil Saiyan arriving with a team to fight the Z Fighters and adding a Great Ape into the mix Cooler was similar to Frieza...i think you get it Also Tapion. Tapion was how Kid Trunks got his sword which he keeps through GT. However, it doesn't explain how Future Trunks has his sword. Plus DBS Kid Trunks doesn't have his sword at all

Imagine that in this version of the show, there are non canon movies that feature concepts like "the brother of Cooler shows up for revenge" and "Gero had another android in mind, a bug man capable of absorbing two other androids to achieve a perfect form". I want to see your take on making non canon movie timeline versions of the real sagas that fit into this alternate storyline.

FINALLY! Me and a buddy spent an entire day talking about this and I kept thinking to myself, "why hadn't anyone else thought of this?!"

Vegeta still can be Canon in this timeline It's just that the way he joins is VERY different

It'd have been interesting. The pacing of the whole show would have been radically different compared to the real thing. In DBZ you have 4 big sagas vs. having 13 with the movies. The whole thing would either have to be One Piece long or much more tightly paced akin to MHA.

I love the emphasis on Bulma's name instead of Vegeta at 12:18 because it implies Trunks was originally the son of Turles and Vegeta

I'd like to imagine that since Goku and Turles look the same, Gorles would just be Goku but slightly taller

In this AU (Alternate&Ultimate?) Dragon Ball Z, I can only imagine how people would be reacting to the movies. Such gems as, "Oh geeze! We only found out that Goku's an alien and now THE PRINCE of his Species shows up out of nowhere?" or even, "Oh for the love of--Cooler has a YOUNGER brother named Frieza!? And he doesn't armor up but goes GOLD like a Super Saiyan!?" And of course there, "Oh that's an interesting idea to have the Gero A.I. give itself an Android body but come on! Androids 16 through 20!? How long are they going to milk this idea!?" Oddly enough, there is a huge, HUGE fanbase around Cell, who is seen as the ultimate fighter due to having the DNA of all the others... to the point he's actually reworked and made canon come the 2018 movie, "Dragon Ball Super: Cell".

The best part about this video is to the casual DBZ fans who know as much of the show as "kai" where anything from the movies is considered "obscure", my favorite part is _those_ people will have NO idea what you are talking about and will have a hard time keeping up. And I find that. . . . high-larious.

You know this completely changes how Resurrection F would work as that was Frieza training to achieve a higher power for revenge but he only does that because of Goku. There are a lot of options to explore here in this new version of Z and Super.

My first thought is that this will work pretty well, because a lot of the DBZ movies are basically copies of the saga they came out in. You've got the Cell style absorbtion powerup in Super 13. You've got Cooler, who is basically Freeza with a sexier voice. You've got Janemba, a fat idiot who turns into a dangerous malicious embodiment of chaotic evil.

Glad I was able to catch this! Saiyan Z Fighters being famous and Turles being Vegeta's replacement certainly would make the world of Z quite different.

Great yarn, here! Very creative way of looping in all the movies into something cohesive. Like others have said, you could've stretched this out into its own series for several weeks, and I would've tuned in for every ep! So...when's "Revival 'C'"? 8D If you are going to continue this "canon", I'd also suggest freely looping in fitting stuff from Heroes, FighterZ, Fusions and the like, since they're pretty much the new "Extended canon" just like the movies once were. Instead of fooling around with Gods and Angels, let's go have Goku, Turles and the gang go mess around with Demons in the Demon World!

Wow! This is an interesting one! Funny thing is I was thinking about something similar with a Dragon Ball reboot idea where the story is told through Goku Jr. with Pan and other surviving characters telling him the story of Son Goku. Junior would then use the lessons or elements from those stories to fight similar villains in his time - the movie villains.

I like this alternate timeline, but I kind of wish you had made Turles not only a replacement for Vegeta, but also a replacement for Raditz. Thus giving an explanation as to why they look so similar: they are twin brothers.

I like that power creep doesn’t seem to be an issue in this timeline either. Everyone has a relevant role and isn’t ridiculously left behind like the original canon.

As someone who's nearly done with a playthrough of Pokemon Gold '97 Reforged, this idea of swapping the established canon with a completely different one that's still somewhat "real" for lack of a better word, this is VERY interesting.

You could have introduced Vegeta during the first Broly movie, as part of Paragus' revenge plot.

Something about this made me really nostalgic. Really brought me back to how huge and expansive Dragon Ball felt back in the day with the movies and the filler and everything. The streamlined way we usually watch DBK nowadays just doesn't quite capture that magic.

No Ultimate Gohan in this timeline. I wonder if that means he finds an alternate path to power like he claims to be attempting in the Manga version of the ToP. Or if he'll simply follow dear old dad down the route of Super Saiyan God.

I hope Xenoverse 2 developers would listen to this man and make a sequel to the game. It would be cool if we could choose which time line we want our game to move.

Movie timeline is best timeline. They make sense together and are an interesting alternate interpretation of the story.

I think it's a bit of a stretch, and takes away from Goku's originality that we're going to have Turles long term. But for the most part I liked this.

Definitly quite good! Though Turles with Bulma is certainly interesting there. Turles is definitely pretty cold though. I'm guessing that like Vegeta, seeing his potential son in danger is what's gonna be what causes him to finally reach the emotion needed to transform

This was a cool idea! If you're up for it, Masako, I wouldn't mind a long multi part series of this version of the Dragon Ball Z timeline.

Turles: Hey Vegeta! I'm replacing you! Vegeta: NOOOOOO

Well this was a pleasant surprise. What I like about the DBZ films is they're like a toolbox of ideas, plotlines, and character that anyone is free to use how they want. I just sort of want to prattle on about alternative ways to make this story work. Wheelo could be the Raditz of this story instead of Cacao. He could see that Turles's ship will arrive on Earth eventually from his Arctic base and decide the Earth needs the ultimate lifeform, a combination of the greatest mind and strongest body. It makes Wheelo slightly more sympathetic/justified but his ego and grim past keep him as an antagonist. Anyway he could allude to Turles's arrival to segway into the next arc. You could have a Super Vegeta moment but instead with Turles, and he defeats Super Android 13 while Goku and Gohan train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. It doesn't change anything and this way Super Android 13 is closer to his power level in the movie. Though it's anti-climatic.

I'm so Excited for Part 2 of this What if! This is Awesome

It would have been even more interesting if you’d been able to use the Dragon Ball movies as well, since a lot of that was basically retelling Dragon Ball with slight differences. Seems a little weird not to include main universe characters that appeared in the movies if they were introduced in the main timeline, though, since almost every character was introduced in the main universe aside from the villains. It would have been fun to find a way to introduce Vegeta/18 within the context of the first movie in which they appeared, but they would simply be at whatever development they were at the time (heck, 18 could have just been Lazuli who was saved by Krillin from getting kidnapped for androidification).

This has got to be one of the best dbz what if kind of videos I've seen in a while! Great work Masako!

Would King Cold still exist in this timeline? Being a villian in the original story should mean he dosen't, but the appearance of Cooler would mean that Cold does exist in this timeline. EDIT: He most likely passed away before the events of the series, similar to Dr. Gero.

i like how in this time line space isnt really governed given all the space pirates floating around. and we have a canon showing of trunks getting his sword which is pretty cool.

Actually, the Garlic Jr. movie was technically canon because he returned in the actual anime not long before the Cell Saga. However, that whole arc was redacted in Kai.

Now I wanna see a multi part of this. Mostly because I wanna see more turles and bulma and what Marron would look like... Wait, would garlic jr still happen in this story because garlic jr is still canon? Would Marron even exist?

you know, i've always had a sort of bone to pick with movie 7. if you're designing your own canon, you can finish the villain off however, even if it doesn't match the original movie. so why not have Piccolo absorb Lord Slug? i could see Piccolo fusing with Lord Slug before he even get's off the ship. he then walks out like: "nevermind, i already took care of him." or Gohan asks him: "did you just.. take care of a big bad single handedly?" and Piccolo responds with: "yeah but, don't count on it." this would probably be a Piccolo after he's reformed, or it could set up for him returning as a main villain again. he could even absorb Guru, Kami, and Nail for good measure. i could see this version of Super Piccolo becoming a real threat, or a critical ally. interesting to think about, don't you agree?

Imagine if OG Dragon Ball had Garlic Jr. instead of Pilaf, Dr Wheelo instead of Adjutant Black and Lord Slug instead of Piccolo? ^^ Still, the OG series would most likely have their movie villains King Gourmet as Pilaf and Lucifer as the leader of the Red Ribbon Army or as a King Piccolo replacement.

Gorles? Cmon. He coulda been named Letsgo! Oh I guess that'd be the potara form. Also did you just skip over them defeating #13? Oh no, you said "however" after he was defeated in a way that just sounded like you were going to reveal he was okay. "however" was not a good way to transition from that scene. The loss of Gotenks is fine. The lack of potara makes sense as Supreme Kai does not show up. Which I hope means we get to see more of Grand Kai. Overall, I really like this alternate world. It's insane how different it is, and yet it's so familiar that I feel like I've already seen it. We have all the pieces to make it. In one alternate universe, we've got people discussing if the movies can be canon, Where we got the Raditz movie, the Prince Vegeta movie, Cooler's angry family movie, the addition of 3 more androids... Which I feel has enough to be it's own movie without Cell, but how would that end in a way that would allow for a Cell movie? I suppose we just rely on time travel. And then finally the Buu movie where we'd get Gotenks, but I wonder if we'd even need a potara fusion for Goku and Turles if they have the dance. That's not too many movies. But I can already see them writing Vegeta into the canon eventually as he's such a popular movie character. Oh man! Woah! Holdup! I just realised, if we're swapping canon and non-canon. Does this mean Super came next as a shorter series that no-one liked, and then GT comes in as the real canon continuation? That's an awesome timeline! Edit: After reading the comments I realise that we'd get a post DBZ movie introducing us to Android 21, in way that doesn't make Buu and the Android movies canon, (Like how we got the canon Broly movie in our own timeline.) but uses elements from them to add the best bits from those movies into the canon. I guess after that ends and she is defeated, she'd get to come back as her own version of Uub. Or... I guess there are several ways to end that as a canon movie. As for our timeline canon Broly, I can't see any way to make him fit into this alternate world. Because why would they make a non-canon movie about him, that ignores the canon? Unless it takes place in Trunks' future timeline maybe? Though. The broly movie even in our own timeline hardly feels canon when Broly is never seen or heard from ever again for the rest of Super. It's odd.

~1:47: Phantom Zone movie: as I recall this movie is cannon, or at least pseudo-cannon for DBZ (depending if you count Anime filler or not), meaning it would be only one of first thirteen movies in both the cannon timeline and this alternate timeline.

Found myself wanting to watch this again and I'm just really fascinated with the ideas presented. I'd kinda wanna know how the events of Super would play out in this timeline, especially the ToP.

Aren't those blue cabbage creatures mechanical duplicates of the Green cabbage creatures (I'm not going to attempt to spell the name because I don't have a clue how one would spell it) that nappa had? So he couldn't have made the blue ones because they have no idea the biological design of the green ones.

for the 2nd movie maybe have android 8 in it because he has a strong robot body that looks human so wheelo might want his body but be unable to use it and reprogram eighter to be his minion also have him in the android 13 movie after all the idea of android 8 taking a stand against dr gero would be cool

I don't know how good of an Idea this is, but what if Goku landed on earth with the Potara earrings in the very beginning? We could get some real nifty fusion in those times.

can you continue with DB Super? I imagine Goku and Turles vs Goku Black would be a headache, so maybe have Broly Black? also I am not sure if there is enough material to cover outside DBS Super Hero, since the first 2 movies you'll just replace Vegeta with Turles, and give Trunks blac hair.... so maybe continue into DBS series instead?

This may sound stupid but what if all the canon ones were movies in this universe.

This is a great placement for the movie characters in the main Dbz timeline.

U-1610 Vegeta just showed up on New Namek one day, went Super Saiyan, and everyone went with it. His only canonical win was against Android 15, which was nearly a tie.

But what if goku was a more active parent? Like he took interest in Gohans education and trained him like Roshi trained goku. Chichi handles the academic and goku does the P.E.. I think gohan and goku would be smarter, stronger and have a much better bond.

Not gonna lie this makes me want a properly fleshed out series just following this what if's version of the narrative.
