I wanted to cast a nice big aluminum skull to protect the treasure. But this is not an easy task. Watch the video to see how I came to a satisfying result.

Schöne Arbeit! Die Beulen in den Augenhöhlen stammen vermutlich von Luftblasen, die sich beim Gipsguss da verfangen haben.

I don't know how I missed this post..... what kind of plaster was that? also since you preheated the mold, why was it bubbling when you poured it? I think the mold plaster still had moisture in it.

It was normal plaster. Maybe there was still some moisture in the plaster, which is pretty dangerous. Kind regards.

This is fantastic. I have wanted to try lost wax but I don’t have an oven. Your way is fantastic. Question if I may. How did you set up the foundary for this, the heat and how long. This would be a great video !! Thank you !!!!

I waited until the foundry has cooled down to about200degrees Celsius, then I inserted the mould with the wax inside, to melt out the wax. this takes only some minutes. After the wax is out of the mould, I dried the mould in a normal oven at about 200 degrees Celsius for several hours until there is 0% moisture inside the plaster. Kind regards from Treasure Island!

You are getting steam pockets. This is from damp mold and not heating it up to about 200F for a few hours before use. You can see this by the vibrating molted metal.
