This was the first performance of the first episode. The crowd was told to give him a big hand, but neither the crowd or his competitors had ever seen Dimash before, as you could tell by their expressions. You are going to see the same people in the backstage shots throughout the journey through Dimash's Singer 2017 performances. The woman you thought was his mother is Teresa Carpio, a singer from Hong Kong who sang "Imagine" among other songs. The young guy with the long hair, and the people always sitting with him are members of the Chinese rock band Lion. You could always check out these people on your own, and then you would know who you were looking at in the backstage shots. Each performer also has an escort or liaison representing the show who you see backstage. Dimash's escort was also his interpreter, because he was only fluent in Kazakh and Russian at the time.(He did know a few basic phrases in Chinese and English.)

The audience doesn't know him, they're excited because it's the opening performance for the whole season. He becomes an overnight sensation because of this performance, and he wins this round. The other people focused by the camera are competitors, they're all Chinese professional singers, so Dimash is like the wildcard there, and the youngest too.

S.O.S has been my favourite song in the whole world since I was a kid. It was written by French-Canadian Luc Plamondon, and composed by French songwriter Michel Berger for French singer Daniel Balavoine some year in the 70. Check out his versions. SOS was also the centre piece of cyberpunk rock opera Starmania. Then, in the 80's, British singer Peter Kingsbery (from band Cock Robin) did it too, under the title "Only The Very Best". Check his versions too. But Dimash brings that song to a whole new level of awesomeness and magic. I've listened to it a zillion times, and all the Reactions I could find, and I still cry when I hear it. Every time. So much passion, precision, and angel-like tones. If there's one song I'm taking to a desert island, it's this one, by Dimash. // PS: I've just watched all your Dimash reactions - thank you for the Playlist and your thoughtful feedback; there were songs in there that did not know he had performed, so good! I never have heard such a wonderful beautiful voice ever in my life ! He is a Legend ! He attend Singer 2017 in China. He like to compose other instruments into it, while the judges didn’t like much. This was the first song on the Singer in China, they never have heard of Dimash .
His mom is an opera singer, his dad is a singer and a composer. You should do reactions of singer 2017 of Dimash it’s got many episodes. he finally end up on the second. But he won the Hearts of Chinese people and got many many fans. Singer is a competition of well known singers only.
There was a lot of things that went wrong in the world's best, they disrespected him because he gave his opinion. And in the videos that we see they cut it down to two minutes when I found out he did the whole song, they refuse to play it for the world to know this. Plus he don't like to do competition with children because he knows it's not fair to them, but they disregarded what he said and they put children to go against him, so that's why he left. They where in shocked that he spoke up and he was so humble that they got mad at him but dimash don't have to worry he's got the rest of the world on his side and we love him so much. It is very difficult for us to listen to other singers now ever since he showed us what he has and it makes me laugh when people say he's an alien.

The Singer is an annual show in China of professional singers. It is performed & televised live by Hunnan TV in Beijing. It's 2.5 months from start to finish. Each week, each contestant sings one song, and only the people in the audience that night get to vote. Voting is complicated with various categories. One singer is eliminated each week and replaced with another professional singer. Dimash was the first singer to perform on the first of The Singer 2017! He won first place for that particular night's performances. He never got voted off the show and won second place for the entire 2017 season of The Singer. Dimash calls his fans Dears. I think you are one now? At this point he was speaking Kazakh. They are speaking Chinese. Now he has learned Chinese and English...he works hard! Those were contestants. This is the song I first heard...so beautiful...tears just flowed. Love this man!!!
I hope you see the difference now! The guys u saw in the other room are the other singers he is comepting against. They are all accomplished singers on that show! The S.O.S song is all about dynamics and that got lost when "the worlds best" cut the performance that much.
The people in the back rooms are his competitors, who were hearing what they were up against for the first time. That's not his mom, but a competitor. When you search for a song add "Eng Sub" to the search bar and you can get translations for the lyrics. Very few translate the Chinese comments.

Dimash was youngest performer, invited as an *wild-card* experiment.. and Dimash became 2nd runner-up to Asian Singer, Sandy Lam. All the people you see in back-stage room are Contestants in the show. His parents are not there. His father will be seen at next performance, which is Opera-2 performance. The meeting judges said what Dimash think of the music . He said that the way of music character has been changed. Judges explain that if he can not grab the 500 people audience attention he will be fall out and end continuing the competition, if he gain no votes of the public. Then someone introduce explain Dimash background of how many different countries he has been doing contests. Dimash was thinking were to put he high notes and what kind of music should be behind...
He takes anybody's music and make it better then the original so it sounds like his own music and for me I don't listen to the original because he makes it better. He hypnotizes you like he does all of us, his music is like from heaven. We can listen to his music over and over again and never get tired. There's no one in the world right now that can do what he does that's why he is a star around the world and America noce this 2.

Those guys are a group called Lion, also competing in the program. Their reactions are always funny. Essentially, all the other performers were already known to the Chinese audience - except for Dimash
I would definitely suggest to use Gloria Wu’s channel for the Chinese and Kazakh songs of The singer as she supplies subtitles as as well as the backstories to this very meaningful songs. Yes the atmosphere of the show is great - there is a lot of respect and friendship even toward the unknown newcomer.
Hi welcome to the Dimash train which leads to Dimash world. You will love him more and more as you go on. Anyway, SOS was the first song he sang in the Chinese competition Singer 2017. He knew no one . didn't speak the language but has translators there helping him. He was very nervous because even though he had won many international contests before, this was the first time he was performing in such a large scale, He was invited to be part of the competition as a wild card. I believe that the applause you see in the beginning is just a confidence builder for a first time performer. No one in the audience or fellow competitors ever heard of him before or heard him sing. This was formidable because all of the competitors were professional and accomplished performers. Dimash is a world class performer as well as an individual.
Translate : Singer program is for well know singers only this program did many yrs in China. The audience needs to vote after the performances of the singers who was attending the show. Each episode will be having first , second and third place, if they can not reach certain points they will be rejected 🙅♂️. And go back home . All episodes votes of the public will be accumulating till the last episode then will win the show. Dimash attend this first time in China ever and they haven’t any glue what kind of singer he is.

Hi, They were not his parents and it was his first performance on Singer. The applause was to make Dimash feel welcome in their country. The end was pure reaction. The producers allowed his way but warned him that he had one shot to make the audience react. And boy did he. The people talking are fellow contestants. The lady you thought was his mom is also a fellow contestant.

Hi there. Dimash is classically trained and has a degree in Music. He also hashis Master degree in composing. He can sing in multiple languages & play 7 musical instruments. He has a 6 octave range and begun training since 5 years old. And he is only 25 yrs old.
The original was the late Daniel Balaivoine version. The original was good and pleasant to hear. Dimash version is out of this world. So wonderful beyond explanation!
This is a competition for professional, popular Chinese singers, unlike the Voice or Idol. Dimash was a wild card, the only singer unknown to Chinese viewers. He was invited by the producers, because he participated in and won a number of international singing competitions in Asia, for example Slaviansky Bazaar in Vitebsk (Belarus) 2015. At the beginning of this video Dimash, his interpreter, (as Dimash does not speak any Chinese at all at that point, except Xie Xie) producer, music director etc are discussing the arrangement of the song. Dimash thought character of the song might be lost if drumbeat is added in a particular spot as producer suggested. Producer is surprised that someone so young (22) feels so strongly about the arrangement, but felt it's good for artist to be challenged. Audience applauds enthusiastically because they are glad the show is finally starting, not because they know anything about him. The people in the other room are the other singers, his competitors. On this show known singers reinterpret the songs that are popularized by someone else.

OMG! That is not his mum. She is a well-established singer from Hong Kong. She is famous and active during the 1980s - 1990s. Her singing style is a bit of opera style. She also mentored quite a few famous young singer. If she takes you on as one of her students, it is basically telling the Asian music industry that you are good and have great potential. Thus record companies will surely be interested in signing you if you don't already have one. Sometimes, the executives of record companies will send potential/new recruits for her to "test" them out or train.
