Sorry if I sound tired in todays one. Let's just say I haven't been getting the best sleep in the last few days 😅 But anyway, what are your favorite ways of watching Media in VR?
Absolutely agree. Also, absolute no-brainer is watching 3D movies in VR. I've been playing VRChat for well over a year until one of my friends asked me if I had ever done that before. Later that night, I was finding myself in a room with him watching Ratatouille in 3D and it was amazing!
Headsets are expensive and hard to clean. Schools wouldn't want to distribute them because they cant support things like word or basic windows apps anyways
VR is definitely a must in every area. Just imagine how cool it will be when schools start using it during lessons. Learning would be so much more fun and effective. P.S. I hope you get some good sleep tonight!
"Skybox" VR player(only for Quest users) very good fo watching inside headsets media on the big screen, best for waching 3D moves, because it have a more settings to adjust the 3D depth. images, which are not in other players.
I would love to see a video on custom environments, i know ho to install them but I don't know where to get them (other than sidequest) and I just love your videos
Bigscreen is awesome for watching movies in VR, especially in 3D. I love the choice of environments you have and also the cool lighting effect the screen gives off to the surroundings
You didn’t mention that the Netflix VR app lets you watch content in glorious 480p! They also used to have 3D versions of movies for 3D TVs, but afaik, it never worked in VR. The VR app hasn’t been updated in years, which just seems malicious at this point.
Ive had some great 3d movie watching experiences in Bigscreen but only from the limited movie selection they have for rent which hasn’t changed in years! I’m still waiting for their next available 3d movie for rent, will probably be old and grey by that time
Don't worry, maybe we'll have full dive VR by then, and you'll be able to feel young again when that time comes. (Partially kidding, lol. Full dive would be nice though.)
I stream content from my Jellyfin server to Q3 in the Meta browser. Just enter and bookmark the server IP address and it works fine, even with VR/3D movies stored on the server. If the browser is windowed it will look like you can't properly view 3D content, but just make it full screen and the controls for 2D/3D and VR appear. Select the 3D mode first (side by side or up/down), then select the VR mode.
Is it just me or is it weird watching movies through VR goggles. feels a bit uncomfortable for me. it's cool. plus you only see a part of the screen at any one time if it's huge anyway. I saw disney plus on the app store I am sure I did.
Amazon Prime is a bit buggy but you can get it to work and when it does it works great

For watching local files alone, I prefer to use the Virtual Desktop app. It can also play 3D movies. I first used it to watch Arcane, laying down on my bed at night with a giant screen in the sky. The first experience is unforgettable. The only downside is that sometimes I have to convert files to mp4, but that is no problem as I can do that with a sideloaded FFMPEG app right inside Quest 2.
For those that have the setup, I also have a home video server with Jellyfin. So I can stream media to my headset and skip OTG storage entirely with services like jellyfin or plex.
@@RIP123 I prefer jellyfin. It was simple to set up, does what I need it to, and I didn't need an account for anything just to use it on my local network. I tried plex first and had issues getting it going just within my home network.
@@Inari-IX Tried my hardest to use Jellyfin but i just couldn't get the server to work properly, the jellyfin client i sideloaded into the quest wasn't finding the my jellyfin server so i just opted to use Plex instead. Could you give me some details on how you connect to your Jellyfin server from the quest 2? did you sideload de android client as well?
@@RIP123 I just updated to the 2.5.0 beta 2 libre release. My server shows up automatically when I go to add a new server. I didn't do anything specific.
Why would they ever make that? The whole point of the beyond is that it can be small because it doesn't have a battery. I'd be insanely surprised if they release a battery powered headset ever.
@@joko49perez I like to see it but you're right. it'll never happen. P.s what i would like is for them to focus on bringing hand tracking into their Bigscreen app.
Oh and FullSBS 3D movies on the QuestPro look absolutely STUNNING. Better than watching on my old Plasma 3DTV from years ago. An incredible experience!
I was so impressed by the cv1 was kind of disappointed with the quest 2. It was so hard to back from oled to lcd. Got part way through HL Alyx with cv1 then couldn't continue with the quest with the grey dark scenes. The low fov is claustrophobic aswel. Can't really get excited about vr until micro led of oled with high fov is then norm.
For 3D movies I load them directly onto the Quest 2. For everything else I stream from my Plex server using Skybox VR Video Player. Bigscreen would work for streaming from a Plex server as well as it can stream from a DLNA server.
Am I the only person to buy Quest Pro just for movies, well I did as I did the Quest 2, Quest and Go before . It’s good, but the weight and the need for 2 controllers is annoying.. the Go is perfect except the lower quality. I am also in Ireland by the way. Skybox was my main app before I used big screen. I usually just upload mp4 videos from my Mac, I nearly had a panic when the supplied usb c cable that comes with Quest Pro did not support copying movies from Mac/PC to the quest.. it just needed a different cable.
VRCHAT is what I have been using mostly for media viewing. Just started your video, but there a couple of VRCHAT worlds that I visit, almost, regularly to watch content.
I love my Pico 4. If anybody's looking to buy a headset for PCVR. I highly recommend the PICO4. Pancake lenses just can't be beat. And it even has the option for a wireless PCVR with decent battery life on the controllers and the headset.
Awsome video as always! Hey is there any any chance you could do a video guide on how you would go about viewing 3D CAD designs on a Quest/Quest Pro? I really want to be able to quickly view my fusion360 designs in 3D on my quest pro but I just cant find a way to do this! When I hear VR and Productivity THIS is the use case that jumps straight out at me but all the so called “productivity apps” seem to let you just draw things and see your desktop! I want to design a bracket or fitting then put on my headset and view it in a 3D space, even throw in other assets to properly visualise it all. If anyone knows a work flow for this its mystical the king of VR😊
I'd love to see this, too. I know Blender supports it, but no CAD software. Makes sense given Blender is more media and entertainment oriented. Hopefully someday!
There is one feature I haven't been able to find. My folks have a 3d tv and there is a setting to turn on 3d for non-3d video and it works pretty well. It gives video more depth vs things popping out at you. Are there any VR Video apps that offer that function? I've see a few native 3d movies and watching them in VR is pretty much /the/ way to watch 3d video content but it would be nice to apply that foe 3D feature to all video.
On PC their is a app that does exactly that foe 3D effect your talking about. Its called IQmango 3D Player. I use it all the time to watch TV and Movies.
DID it work to watch a VR headset on a plane? I tried it once and it couldn't keep the image stable when the plane moved (which was why I thought they were currently working on some kind of travel or plane/car mode to compete with the same feature that the Apple Vision Pro has?)
This is the type of "things" i like to do with my devices your channel have become one of my favorites lately Keep the good work and i will be waithing the "Custom enviroments" video.
Hello, could you/anyone please help me find a VR headset that's perfect for media watching and costs no more than $700? It's important to me that the headset can display my surroundings while I'm using it. I'm an avid fan of streaming content on platforms like RU-vid, Netflix, Hulu, and Chrome Internet. Unfortunately, I don't own a computer and I'm not interested in purchasing one just to use with a VR headset. I'm a mid-century-year-old US vet who enjoys movies, Music, and videos. I don't game anymore since the days of Left for Dead, HALO COMMAND & CONQUER, CHESS Zombies, Predators, & Aliens franchises type games 🎮 I doubt if anything I just said is useful in helping my cause but I am always grateful for any advice from anyone who has more knowledge than I have on the subject of VR headsets. Therefore, I need your support to find a user-friendly headset with mid-range pricing and excellent performance that can be easily paired with any S23, S24 5G Ultra Android (preferably), iPhone, and WiFi. I hope you can help me find the perfect VR headset for my needs. Thank you!
Where can I actually download VR videos? So far I could only find the adult content, but where can I actually download a high quality VR travel videos or something like that? I'm using steam vr
Hi The Mysticle...I am SLY from Canada...very nice helping video....got some question hope you can help. 1- tel me the best VR head set to watch movie on my sony-bravia 65inch TV. 2- Can I download some movie from internet put in the USB then look at it in the VR 3- where can I have this VR for I hope lest that 500$ or close. Thank for all the help
I think the AR glasses should be able to do this already for media watching and gaming. Not quite there yet for productivity use. However I did like the idea of watching the same screen with others physically not in the same room. Could be like playing retro games (e.g. TMNT arcade, Alien vs. Predator, Mario Kart, etc.) with several players all in different locations looking at the same screen whether it's full or split screen.
For me, it's Bigscreen (modern cinema) and Virtual Desktop (home theater) because those environments are more realistic and cozy. Not just watching movies, but also the Formula 1 season on those huge screens is such an experience! Netflix official vr app causes my eyes to bleed. What an ugly app!
Can you use a 'link-cable' as the OTG adaptor between an external drive and the quest 3 ? - Your vid was created 11 months back so maybe the quest 3 doesn't apply here...I'm questioning whether connecting a USB external hard-drive to the quest 3 C input will work using jut the link cable, and is Amaze File Manager necessary? I would love to be able to watch movies from an external usb drive on the quest 3 without needing to run a tethered 1000w PC or dloading the file to the quest mem.
I suffer from macular degeneration (AMD) and am curious to know whether viewing mp4 content on a VR headset will improve my vision over TV or PC monitor viewing. perhaps somebody has more knowledge on the subjeect? Leon van der Merwe
you've never seen a 3D movie properly until you've seen it in VR; the contrast, the colour saturation, the brightness the complete absence of ghosting! all IRL methods of watching a 3D movie ( polarized glasses, shutter glasses etc) mess with these things.
Can you do an update to this with the Quest 3? Would really like to get some insight on how useful and comfortable it is to watch movies via the Quest 3
The ability to watch movies in a virtual cinema tempting. I only wish the virtual movie-goers could be less cartoonisth and more realistic. As it stands now , the concept is too gimmicky. Hopefully, future iterations of the Meta Quest will address this sticking point.
will this work okly or nicely on the vridge setup anyone who experienced or mysticle pls reply asap !! wanna try it eagerly hope it work what do u say ??
Disney and Prime always stutter in Big Screen for me. I love Big Screen though and everything else works great! 4K resolution for movies is the way to go when watching in Big Screen, it makes a difference even though the headset isn't 4k.
Hey, really love the channel, keep the vids coming :) Curious why you seem to prefer apps over just using the browser? Disney+ works fine in the browser and gives the same results. Seems much easier than side loading the Android app.
Skybox is pretty awesome. In bigscreen you can use the personal monitor to add a curve to it. You than have to resize it to the size you want. It would be nice if you could have a big curved screen by default.
If i'm not watching with friends I've taken to watching movies using Virtual desktop, it has some nice enviroments and because the Quest 2 is rendering the enviroments it leaves my computers resources free so I can play pancake games that way too.

I can't deny that. That's not the only word they're removing without even notifying me. Sometimes something will show up in my email saying someone commented and then when I press on it the comment is gone.
Ngl this media vr thing need to be supported more for phoneVR, not only that will cut the cost of vr it also make em not that complicated, I just found my vr box from my old phone and I can use it on my new phone, but the support of phone vr is dead and there aren't that many media vr apps/apk, the one I try to use now is cineVr, I want to use this so I can just lay down on my bed watching video on big screen in theater but some of them not on my bad and outdated but also payed, I try my hardest to search if it possible to just use browser to watch video with my phone vr but sadly there aren't any browsers that support phone vr, so the only way to enjoy this is downloading video and use video player that support phone vr and watch it there
