Wow bro I felt just like you. Read about the Egyptian deity amun and thought why am I saying this as a catholic and on top of that I went to catholic school and I can't remember ever being told the meaning/and purpose of that word. I stopped using it in my prayers because I feel it doesn't comply with the true and one God, who sent his only beloved Son , Jesus Christ. I feel that God showed me this truth in how I feel when i pray. So now I'll end the prayer with praise and glory in your name. Furthermore God and Jesus Christ aren't the authentic names. This is my problem. People get too caught up with a slight change in pronunciation and start saying you are calling on another god. Lol ! Number one there is only One true God, and the Creator of all is a loving merciful God, let's not forget He pours out wrath on the unrepentant. But do I really believe that because I don't know how to correctly pronounce a name or a way of ending a prayer that God is going to hold me accountable for that, even if I was clueless? Give me a break, God himself has a name that no one knows, he has kept it pure and away from anyone who would blaspheme it. There so many more accurate translations because the KJV translators were allowed to enhance the text as they saw fit, and they did so, according to the aesthetic of the times (remembering this was the age of Shakespeare). The erroneous translation usurped the Name which is above all names with a title (god) that even muslims utilize, and replaced the the Messiah's true name with a greek deity. And it gets worse! KING JAMES AUTHORISED THE NEW BIBLE TRANSLATION FOR POLITICAL REASONS. King James believed that a single ‘authorized version’ was a political and social necessity. He hoped this book would hold together the warring factions of the Church of England and the Puritans that threatened to tear apart both church and country. Most of the translators, however, were clergymen belonging to the Church of England, but at least some had Puritan sympathies.[3] King James issued over a dozen rules that the translators had to follow. The truth is God is a man made con, Amen. The end of days may come, but God will have no part in it as he is a made up fantasy. My issue is the global economic and political effects of the god delusion. Also the implications on education and intellectual development. People continue to use emotion and religious indoctrination to help guide them, and the pervasive social reinforcement of the religious ideas maintained by all forms of western media. We humans can be very sheep like and seldom stay logical in how we react to the world around us (sadly). The question is why do you propose any form of actual god, machine or superhuman. The idea of a good, loving and personal connection from such a powerful being is where we must part ways. The idea that we are created in the image of God is just egotistical nonsense. A god that loves us and counts the hairs on our heads it also a complete non-starter. Simplistic, makes no reasonable logical sense, and what could motivate any being to want to do such things? Also when it comes to history as it relates to gods and their supporters, one should not forget what happened before. History is such a great teacher.
