Really enjoyed that and loved your laid back style. A welcome change from the over-excitable types! I picked my A45S up on 1st March. (Mountain Grey metallic) It was my first auto and in all honesty it took me a month or two to gel with the car, albeit Covid didn't help. (Came from a 400bhp manual Golf R, which I could not fault) It's ballistically quick to the point where even without trying, you're quickly exeeding national speed limits and some. Power delivery feels naturally-aspirated rather than forced induction and grip levels and chassis control are astonishing. In Sport + mode (or modified Individual) you can get a decent enough sound out of it, although a proportion of it is artificial. Pops and chatter are there, if that's your thing. It wants for nothing in terms of tech, is surprisingly comfortable and is, overall, a hugely capable thing. Maybe too capable if you prefer more involvment. When you consider what you get, (and there are very few options to add), then the price point is actually pretty competitive. Buy the booted CLA45S and no one mentions it. A hyper hatch indeed but still an easy car to live with day to day although she likes a drink! :)

The A45s is a fantastic driving and performing car and that NOBODY can deny.. It is the ultimate hyperhatch but therein lies the problem for me.. The cars looks.. The A series hatchback has always looked ugly and ungainly to me and the styling of the AMG version is something I just could NOT live with day to day.. It looks too Halfords boy racer by far for me and I would undoubtedly go for the more conservative and more mature looking CLA 45s which looks like a REAL Mercedes to me and less showy and racy and yet still is a brilliant driving dynamic storming Q car that will not appeal to the more racy and showy element but this is the kind of car I like and would buy myself. I am 54 though and feeling it maybe?.. What do you guys think??... lol!..😂😂👍👍

This was in my recommendation from RU-vid. And they didn't let me down. Great structure, well put together and spot on energy. How it should be. *I have a (Icon Shown) 1989 500cc Suzuki RG Gamma C Series that develops 95bhp @ 9000rpm and weights in at 340 lbs [156 KG] however loves to drink juice at an alarming rate rarely getting more than 25 (UK) mpg, Multiply this up to 2 litres and you have 760 bhp - what went wrong ? - PS I also have a B200 CDi AMG with all the tricks, and absolutely amazing. Love the MBUX which gets better all the time.Only recently discovered after having one for almost a year, you can say "Hey Mercedes My Bum is Cold" {this is true, MBUX users try it - but you can say what song is playing with a USB Flash Card} and Mrs Mercedes will reply "You are listening to **_Alfie Boe, A Nightingale sang in Berkeley Square_** Hi Mercedes Play next track, OK I am playing Michael Ball singing 'Tulips from Amsterdam' [if you have named that track as such, he is actually singing I Dreamed a Dream from Sunset Boulevard] but it makes passengers ROFL, you can also ask what's the Weather Forecast on Tuesday next week in 'Santa Monica' it will give you a daily report, with highs & lows, or if not stated will be aware of your exact location and give details for that. Also will detect if you are Petrol or Diesel and give you fuel Prices in area. Many other tricks as well - truly amazing.*

The people who insist on having 10L of engine capacity and 28 cylinders are like the people who think technology is bad and same sex marriage is god forbidden. Especially nowadays where V8s no longer have a significant advantage in performance (at least on-road practical performance) over modern 4 or 6 cylinders. But all they say is "oh but the sound" or " N/A is a much better feel". Sure a bit more than 4 cyl and 2L capacity would be nice, but V8s are just for people who are stuck in the past.

You're right that isn't a hot hatch. That's a heavy front biased auto hatch. True driver's hot hatch is FWD, light weight with ideally an NA engine. Where's the fun driving an A45s? You can't use all that power..maybe in a straight line lol. The greatest hot hatches were cars like the clio Williams, Integra DC2. Anyone else agree or is it all about power now and automatic gearboxes. God i miss 90s cars...

I love a hot-hatch (any hot-hatch) that has lots of ability for after-market tuning in order to compete or "show off". Particularly in this segment of hot-hatches. I have never seen a M2 or RS3 in a stock form on the road. They all have 550HP to 650HP. I don't think this A45S car can cater for that, as its little engine has been already stressed out like no tomorrow. 430HP is nothing for this segment of hot-hatches.

Way too expensive for a 2.0 hothatch. The EA888 engine from the Golf R is easily tuned to 400 or more hp reliable for a whole lot less....
