CLARIFICATION: At around 07:00, Justin misspeaks. THC has an inhibitory effect on the POMC neuron, causing LESS GABA (the neurotransmitter being secreted) to be released. The CB1 receptor is indeed stimulated, but in his excitement he made it seem as though an excitatory signal is being sent through the POMC neuron. Oh Justin.... Thanks to the user @Potatomanure for catching the flub!

This is a very great video!! Just one correction: both of them are psycoactive (can made effects into your body) but just THC is psycotropic (can change the perception from reallity - but no Psycodellic). It's wonderfull to see this kind of videos. Maybe an idea for the next videos can be the medicinal use of Marihuana in very important areas like oncotherapy, annsiety, fibromyalgia, anorexia, antiinflamatory effects, regulation of the immune system, nausea and pain control, insomnia, Antiepileptic and Neuroprotective effects among other benefits. I'm a medical student and I really appreciate your work making these videos, Regards from Chile !!!🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱

I think one of the most interesting thing about the endocannabinoid system is that is ubiquitous: we are finding proof of cannabinoids modulating the immune system, the digestive and secretory ones, among all the others we know about. Fitocannabinoids are so fascinating especially for their adaptability and evolution coherent with the progression of the various apparatus and system of mammals. And so I really hope cannabinoids will get to be used more in treating a large plethora of diseases and conditions, also giving us other perspective of the neuromodulation they are involved in. Great video as always!

I can tell you that long term use is wonderful, Lol. Started at 14 and now 61. The strains are powerful as hell now. I was smoking it back when it was called ditch weed or alcapolca gold. I feel fabulously 45, aside from a few aches and pains of natural body aging. Health is good. Eyesight; last year they put a hole in each of my eyes just outside the color part due to hypertension. My eyesight is good for my age but has improved since my eye pressure has been reduced. I graduated high school 5th in my class at age 17, had a great career (retired at 56), raised a family as a single parent and now a Grandmother. I have always had munchies. To combat that - drink warm tea or lemon water and munch on low calorie things like sugar free jello, salad, etc. - then you can eat until you can't. Stay away from sugary sweet things, it's not easy, even I have to have a spoonful of honey that magically turns into 4 spoonfuls, Lol.. Not sure if anyone will read this or no - but if you do and got this far .. don't let anyone tell you you will fail if you partake, you won't. Don't let anyone tell you it will affect you weird or harmful when you grow older, it doesn't. Don't let anyone tell you that you won't amount to much because you partake, because you will develop wonderful creative skills that allow you to cope in the harshest of situations you will run into, in your lifetime. Eat organic foods when you can, drink clean water always, don't eat too much meat, live and let live (others have the same rights you do), don't get uptight over those little things - You will go far. As a 48 year partaker - if it is meant for your body to continue using, your body will tell you and you will know if it's for you, but keep in mind, it can become a long term medicine. *Cheers*

Tolerance has to do with the thc attaching to your cells if all your cells are already affected by thc because you already smoked it will in turn affect you less since weed takes weeks to leave your body. Man i miss daydreaming on sativa

Thank you for this. I live in Canada where prohibition is only a bad dream in the past now. I really grasped all that you explained using the body parts. It's one thing to be told these things but I feel you really brought it home with how you explained and used your human examples. I completely surprised my doctor after consuming some edibles and waiting for the high blood pressure to lower blood pressure transition to occur. She was happily surprised at the results. I have moderate high blood pressure and am taking pharmaceutical medication to control it, but I am hopeful that science can all of us the same results without the pills, possibly using micro dose levels of Cannabis to moderate instead. There is so much to learn about this plant. You mentioned that Cannabis affects all the body organs. I would like to learn more about the effects on liver and kidneys, since they all have receptors. Could it be that Cannabis is fixing, tweaking and repairing us as we damage ourselves from the world we live in?

Cannabis is pretty big among the body building community due to it's ability to over emphasis what's called "mind muscle connection". Then they introduced Fentanyl. What I have learned though this process is that natural remedies work best, hands down. I was 50 the first time I ever tried cannabis for pain relief and nausea and that changed my life. I am no longer on any of the petroleum based prescription products and have my life back now. I’m grateful to see the stigma of CBD and cannabis changing and hearing story after story of how lives are improving with the use of plants.

Endocannabinoid video idea is FIRE 🔥🔥🔥 Off topic note, i dont get munchies from THC. Many do. Maybe its just mental discipline?

I smoked weed for 30 years. From the age of 13 to 43. I was a daily smoker. I quit smoking a few years ago. When I quit… absolutely nothing happened. I didn’t get noticeably healthier. My life didn’t get better in any way… or worse for that matter. I don’t know what this means exactly. It’s just my experience.

@Christian Gormley the weed that everyone smokes nowadays is pretty potent. You really don’t have to smoke a lot. You can just take a couple puffs and you’ll be high. I don’t imagine that would be too damaging to your lungs. Probably nowhere near as bad as living in a large city with air pollution. Just don’t smoke all day, that’s not necessary, it’s a waste, you don’t get any additional effects. In my experience…

I’ve found that word recollection and vocabulary can be diminished, especially if currently high. This is anecdotal, but I’ve had many friends who smoke regularly who have realized this.

I would be really interested to know more about the long term affect of the munchies. When I started smoking I would get the munchies and it didn't seem to matter what strain I smoked but I've noticed in the past few years it actually suppress my appetite. For example it became apart of my routine having a quick puff before supper and minutes later I had absolutely no appetite, even if I was starving before hand. Knowing I had to eat something I would still eat but it was nauseating. A good friend of mine who had been smoking longer than I have was having issues with appetite as well, which lead to other gut health problems. She tried a few things but eventually decided to completely cut weed out to see what would happened. After a week she got her appetite back! I guess what I'm getting at is does long term use maybe have the reverse affect? I only noticed this since it became legal in Canada and was being sold legally. Maybe what ever they do to mass produce it vs home grown has different side affects? Love the channel btw! You make learning anatomy fun!

Weed can be good yes if not smoked everyday back to back I ended up getting severe liver pain from smoking and the only time it went away is when I quit for 5 months started again pain came back after like a month of starting up again and I also know some one who had a heat stroke from smoking weed and he’s now paralyzed on half his body and I also know some one else who had a stroke and believes it’s from weed it messed up your digestive!!!! And munchies only really came for me when I first started smoking back up after smoking for a while you lose your appetite and you actually feel liver pain All the time

I'm reaaally looking forward to the full series of how cannabis affects everything in our body. I immediately thought of an idea of how different strains affect the body - ie. Cannabis Sativa & Indica. Perhaps a separate video could be dedicated to that. Thank you for everything you do.

He’s talking specifically about thc. Which will effect you the same way regardless of the strain of cannabis. The difference between saliva and Indica are the ratios of the cannabinoids that they contain. This is what causes the difference in perceived effects between the two. There are hundreds of different cannabinoids in cannabis (many of which have very few formal studies on them) doing a video on them would be difficult and we’re a long ways away from understanding them all. Perhaps a video on CBD?
