This was my first deep sky object with the Sky Watcher Esprit 120 ED and the Panther TTS-160 mount. I was able to get one hour and twenty minutes of 1 minute subs, and I am very happy with the results.
I used an unmodified Canon EOS-R for this photo, and it framed up the Andromeda Galaxy nicely.

The Skywatcher 120 ED and Panther TTS 160. That's like going from 0 to 100 in less than 4 seconds. Nice job.

Hi Bruce, best tracking l have seen so far. Anyway, what’s the difference, advantage and how do you compare using the canon mirrorless to a dedicated cool camera on the esprit. Also what imaging software and processing software do you use. Hoping to hear from you soon Thanks

Right now, I am using three cameras for my astro-photos. I am using a Canon T7 for distant Galaxies (that gives me a 1.6x crop factor for extra reach), an astro-modified Canon 60D (for anything with emission nebula), and the full frame Canon EOS-R for Andromeda. I have a dedicated cooled camera, but I haven’t started experimenting with it yet. You need software to run the cooled cameras, so that is still a little off in the future for me. I use Sequator to stack my photos, and then Photoshop and Lightroom to process the image once it is stacked.

Hi Bruce. Are you by any chance using the Skywatcher flattener or a reducer/flattener? If so, could you quickly review your image train? My 120ED arrives tomorrow and I am so confused about backfocus on the scope. I plan on using the scope with an ASI2600MC and the Skywatcher documentation is all over the place on how to measure backfocus and what that value should be. They talk in the 120ED manual about installing a custom built adapter which really seems strange. Any assistance would be great.

well i cant say that you can take that image with ED80 witch is 5x less money , and everyone would be better getting a better camera then that scope ,that being said , if you already have a good camera and you have money , then why not its better then ED80 , but camera and you skills are going to affect the image much more then that difference between ED80 and 120

This looks an alt-az mount ? If so then not really suited to do astrophotography I suppose ? Nice video by the way

It is an alt-az mount, but you can buy an extra piece call the "rOTAtor" which allows it to track like an equatorial mount for photography.

@@brucetracyphotography9879 Yes that's what I thought, makes it even more expensive to really use it for astrophotography :-)

Why only 1 minutes subs with guiding? You should be able to pull 2-4 minute subs easy.

The total RMS showing the PHD2 is 1.27", thats not great tracking for a mount over $1000 I'd expect under 1.00". Anything over $2000 should be getting less than 0.5" total RMS, I'm sure you can work on the setting to improve it.

There is no doubt it can be improved. This was my first time using this mount, so it was a learning process as I went.

Agree. Should get 0.6 "-0.7".

Take care of the girls, almost $9,000, rig and equipment. A ding or scratch is going to be extremely disappointing I am sure.

No dings or scratches ... at least I hope. I am going to be extra careful with this setup.
