Hey my buddy I have a question about the Andy Griffith Complete Blu-ray Series do they featured the original sponsor commercial after every episode and do they also include the original opening and closing credit where Andy and Opie are both leaving the fishing hole because I know in syndication they don't show it just asking.

Oh I forget to asked you on the episode "Christmas Story" is the original sponsor commercial included on the Blu-ray and as for the original closing credit are they showing both Andy and Opie walking back home with Opie dropping one of his fishes while leaving the fishing hole and what sponsor commercial is featured at the end of the "Christmas Story"

@@Sthunderrocker Bonanza is another great western that CBS & Paramount own too, that would be another great western that would be awesome Remastered on Blu Ray. I almost forgot Have Gun Will Travel too, I did a review on this complete series DVD set many years ago. But I love all those western series too! Hopefully these 2 new Blu Ray sets sell well enough so we can get a ton more of these great shows too remastered on Blu Ray from CBS.

Thank you so much for this review! I became aware of the channel from the unfortunate “I Dream of Jeannie” release. If anything, I didn’t think you were critical enough on it. I have it and it’s absolutely disgusting (I had bought it before I saw your review). I’m so happy to hear that The Andy Griffith Show got the release that EVERY TV series (especially from the 50s and 60s) should get. I wish Sony would learn from Paramount/CBS and do a great Blu-ray release for Bewitched but… anyway thanks again!

It came today and so far it plays fine. My only nitpik so far is on the cases where it list the special features, the print is so small that I can't read it. Is it a big deal? No, I can live with it, but that's my little quibble. LOL

Well it took along time but I finally finished watching the whole set! Loved it but my favorites are still the first 5 seasons. To me the color episodes weren't as good because Don Knotts left the series. His guest star appearances were the only ones I liked from the color seasons but's that's just me. I was glad they also included the Gomer Pyle episode with Andy & Opie. I hope that gets a bluray release as well. The one thing I was surprised that they didn't include as an extra was the Mayberry RFD episode where Andy & Helen finally got married. That would have been a nice treat but oh well. Bottom line this is a great set to have!

I am currently watching it as I type this. It’s a great family show that’s really relaxing to watch at night & helps my nerves & mind to relax. It’s still amazing to me that we got 2 huge remastered classic TV series released within a few weeks of each other & they both (MacGyver & Andy Griffith) look great and are outstanding remastered Blu ray sets to own & enjoy!

My Dad and Mom literally watch this show every single night. Haha. I’ve been tempted at ordering it for awhile, and finally think I’m going to, especially after this review. Can’t wait to add it to my collection!!! Also, how awesome would it be if they did this same treatment for Walker Texas Ranger? I have the older DVD Complete Collection, but man what I wouldn’t give for a really amazing Blu-Ray Collection. Seeing Chuck Norris kicking ass on Blu-Ray would be like a dream come true.

I agree, Walker Texas Ranger is one of the shows that I talked about in this review, that I would absolutely love to see complete remastered on Blu Ray. Also I am a huge western TV series fan so I would also love Rawhide, Bonanza & Gunsmoke complete series remastered on Blu Ray too. I have been asking Paramount & CBS Home Entertainment what their next remastered TV series plan are, but I haven’t gotten any definitive answers yet. Since the release of MacGyver and Andy Griffith Show, CBS has been putting out a lot of Complete Series Collections, all in the same packaging as these two sets: with individual cases for each seasons! In 2022, they have released Charmed (both classic and reboot), The 4400, Hogan’s Heroes and Frasier, it’s nice that these shows are still released in complete sets, I certainly want CBS to keep them coming! I heard rumors that we’ll get I Love Lucy sometime soon, fingers crossed and I’ll get that Day One for sure if it really happens! :) Some other shows that I hope to be released in Blu-ray complete Boxsets: - The Brady Bunch - Sabrina the Teenage Witch - Beverly Hills, 90210 (though it’s highly unlikely, I already got the ultimate DVD set regardless!) - Matlock - Hawaii Five-O and Five-0

I just ordered this through your link! Of course when I get this I'll watch it all the way through but I already know my favorites are the black & white seasons. Mainly because of Don Knotts. When he left after the series went into color the show wasn't as funny without him. I'm glad he at least guest starred in 5 of the color episodes though.

Glad you enjoyed my review, I was also happy this set turned out so well. To keep things varied I feel that CBS should release a western remastered TV series next, just so they show off different genres, or they should do a courtroom drama TV series or Murder Mystery TV Series, this way they can keep the content they are releasing varied. But I will have to see what I find out is coming out next, I just hope these 2 releases sell well enough for them to justify releasing more of these complete series remastered sets.

@@InSearchofPhysicalMedia Gunsmoke was from CBS. You may need add extra storage space if that puppy comes out in Blu-Ray. The show is streaming in HD, so HD masters are available.

I am hopin the box set for hogans heroes is set up just like this. Easy acess to every single disc is my main concern. For tv sets i hate when i have to pull a disc out to play the one below it. This set looks perfect for my needs.

Well I will be getting this nest month! I am glad it includes the Gomer Pyle episode with Opie and The Return to Mayberry movie. I wish they had thought to add the episode from the Danny Thomas show that introduced Andy Taylor for the first time or the first episode of Mayberry RFD where Andy & Helen finally get married but I realize we can't have everything. LOL I do hope CBS will think about releasing Gomer Pyle & Mayberry RFD to bluray because I think that would be a good thing!

Good to note the differences! Blu-Ray for Hogan’s Heroes dies not include the great extras found on Season Two of DVD. I did notice same number of disks for Season one of Andy Griffith show somassuming video quality (which is quite good) is the same on Complete Series Set.

Question: Like with MacGuyer, after Season 1, if you start to play an episode from seasons 2 to 8 then stop the player in the middle of the episode then restart the player will it save from the spot you stopped at or will it go back to the main menu like MacGuyer does?

So this has auto start replay option when I play each disc, now with that being said my 4K UltraHD Blu Ray Player also will remember when I watch some other Blu Ray disc and then I come back to put Andy Griffith back in and it will start up exactly where I left off even if I have watched several other discs lol!!!! As I type this I am currently watching this show allover again from the beginning lol!!! This is such a great classic series that’s short but fun episodes.

As i have said on other comments before on this channel and others 90 percent of my collection is dvd for some of us dvd is good enough there can be bad transfers on any format there are some dvds that look almost as good as blu ray and there are some that look barely better then a vhs for me its mostly price as i collect alot of stuff from 50s 60s era so not all of it has gotten released to blu ray i am happy as much of it has got releases and have to say it has peeked my interest and 5 years from now who knows i may start upgrading the stuff i can. I am not judgey in general in life to each there own we can all respect each other's tastes even if its not for us. Im only 22 and love physical media i dont think it will ever really die they said that about vinyl 20 years ago it all goes in cycles.

With the Gomer Pyle episode in HD and shown in syndication in great HD on The Sundance Channel (slightly larger than 1:33 to 1, but looks fantastic), perhaps waiting in the wings?

One of the best shows in tv history but good lord, the color episode side by side comparisons look more like 1940 cartoons on both formats. Glad I stick strictly with the cool and crisp b&w seasons.

I have another question. You mentioned one of the bonuses was the colorized version of "The Pickle Episode" and I wondered if also included was the colorized version of the Christmas episode from Season One? The reason I asked is because I remembered that CBS once aired a colorized version of that episode at Christmastime. In fact if I remember right they aired both the Christmas episode and the Pickle Story together to make it a one hour TV special.

The first episode of Mayberry RFD. Andy and Helen get married and it has Opie, and Barney also. I think that episode should have been on the original TAGS show not on spin off Mayberry RFD. Just My opinion tho for total of 250 episodes. Only dvd of spin off show is season one thanks goodness that has that episode as first episode of Mayberry RFD.

I've seen several asking if some of the episodes are edited versions but have not seen an answer? I'm holding off buying this as well until it's confirmed if they are edited for some reason and if so will they be issuing replacement disks? All the work that has gone into these it would be shocking if they still used edited episodes on some! I would say that should take the score down as well for this set since fans of the show want the episodes as they were originally aired and not bits cut out.

To answer your question, I have answered this a few time before in comments & on the community section. But to make it brief this set has the exact same episodes & runtime on each episodes as were available with the film elements that exist & were present when the made the Andy Griffith the complete TV series DVD set that I am comparing this new Blu Ray set to in this review video I created. So if a originally film element didn’t exist for them to scan originally when creating these sets then it’s simply not available to use, otherwise I didn’t notice anything really missing from this set that was present on the DVD set that I owned & compared this Blu ray set to. But I also don’t sit comparing viewing millisecond by viewing millisecond but according to the data present on each disc, both sets had the same runtime so they both have the same episodic content. But with that being said if you choose not to buy the set because you are worried there might be a missing a very few brief seconds that Paramount Studios & CBS could not locate or find when scanning the film elements to create these DVD & Blu Ray sets, then you probably shouldn’t buy most of the remastered TV series sets that come out because TV series & film restoration & remastering is never 100% percent perfect & it never will be either. But this set of The Andy Griffith Show Blu Ray has been great to enjoy for me and my family & has been a wonderful upgrade over the DVD sets & looks the best this show ever has. Hope this answers your questions & helps you to understand all of this.

Yes, I explained in this review that’s one of the special features that was remastered in full 1080p HD in this new Blu Ray set.

I just got mine today and the first episode I tested was “The Pickle Story” and my God, the scratchy high frequencies sound horrible! When Barney talks in his high voice or when the laugh track kicks in, the audio becomes nearly unbearable to listen to. The DVD audio on the old discs is much more tolerable, possibly thanks to a higher compression rate.

Something is definitely wrong with your specific discs and they were most likely miss manufactured because there is no such issues present on any of the episodes in the sets I reviewed. So 2 ways for you to verify if it’s specifically your discs or your Blu ray player would be to play that episode in another Blu ray player and determine if you hear the same thing on a completely different TV & Blu Ray Player. If you still do hear the exact same thing on a completely different TV & Blu Ray Player then your disc was miss manufactured and you simply need to contact the company you bought them through and have the set exchanged for another Blu Ray Set. Now if you test that same episode on another Blu Ray Player and it doesn’t do the exact same high pitched screeching sound then that means either your TV or Blu Ray player needs an update or if it’s too old and doesn’t have updates in years then in some small cases your player might be simply too old for most modern Blu Rays that are being released. But this very last scenario is pretty rare because most people buy a new Blu Ray Player every couple years and don’t have ancient players nowadays. Hopefully you are able to test this the ways that I explained. But no matter what the good news is as I explained in this review this is not an issue present normally on any of the sets and they play perfectly fine through all the testing with no issues.
