Update
The date has been fixed, I have no idea why I had it as whatever I put it might have been for another video apologies to everyone who was mistaken, also the dates of when this episode was recorded and aired are shown at the beginning.
Okay so this isn't The Beach Boys in 1966, the episode just aired that time. Also the video was originally probably gonna be uploaded in 480p which doesn't look good on RU-vid so it's in a 1080p frame, the footage itself has not been altered in any way.
This is also the only episode I have of "The Andy Williams Show" I got this DVD off of eBay, so I'm sure there are more shows being sold.
The Beach Boys Performance: 32:00
IMDb Description
Andy Williams hosts this musical variety show which opens with him singing 'Love' and 'The Shadow of Your Smile.' Sid Caesar performs as a concert pianist at Carnegie Hall and a Prussian officer coping with a bumbling aide. Tallulah Bankhead sings and danced as 'The Hostess With the Mostest' and discusses baseball with Williams. The Beach Boys also perform.

One of The BBs' greatest moments on American television was at 36:14. Stunning.

I always listen to this song whenever I have a bad day. It makes things kinda make sense a little more.

There is no other band that harmonized like the Beach Boys. They set the standard that no one else can equal. They're still doing until this day. God love these guys.

They all sound really good but it's always great to hear Mike's bass/tenor vocal! (sometimes it gets buried in the mix) For me, they're all heroes, no villains! 🙂

I guess they didn't want to give Honda the free advertising. In the long run it really destroyed the Honda Motor Company.

FTR, the show itself -- at least The Beach Boys' segment -- was recorded October 22, 1965. Weird that it took over six months to air. The next day at the same studio, they did The Jack Benny Hour.

I first heard The Beach Boys in my toddlerhood and childhood. The only song I ever heard by them at the time was “I Get Around”. Later, I heard “Little Saint Nick” and “Surfin’ U.S.A.”. Also, production masters should always be widescreen with the timecode placed on one of the black bars. Otherwise, don’t stamp it on the screen for people who like to see the picture unblocked.

Everyone might not know this, But two weeks airing this episode. They would release one of the GREATEST ALBUMS in History. By the end of the year, because of this album. They Became The Best Band in The World...until it all came crashing down a year after the airing of this episode.

It'd be ideal if NBC made a RU-vid channel for The Andy Williams Show, maybe not the full episodes, (No dedication channel to old shows has ever done this anyways). But they should repost their most iconic performances from the masters they have.

Other than the color footage and the headline of 1966, there's nothing to distinguish The Beach Boys look from four years before. Which makes The Beatles musical and visual transformation that much MORE remarkable. In six months, they would be seen entering the Abbey Road studios with mustaches and the beginnings of SPLHCB. I'm certainly not taking anything away from TBB music, just merely, pointing out how The Beatles were leading the change in contemporary music and popular culture worldwide.

Wellllllll....I wouldn't go *that* far...I don't think they brought out the striped shirts until 1964, probably an Al suggestion based on the Kingston Trio. But yeah, I can see what you mean.

I thought Craig smith left the good time singers in 65. I think the date might be wrong because the beach boys also look like a bit of an anachronism given that they almost look the same as when they did that appearance for California girls especially Brian.

Just fixed the date when the episode aired, at the very beginning it shows when it was recorded and when it will air.

The instrumental track was pre-recorded. Dennis was not playing the drums...only pretending/miming so he couldn't actually hit the skins.
@jlee2383
@jlee2383 Месяц назад
@@robertfinkel7548 ? How is this pre-recorded? Notice the very real flub to start off 32:29 why would they include that if it were pre-recorded? Perhaps someone out there knows more than I do about this stuff, but it sounds very much live to me. As for Dennis, I’m not gonna say he’s the greatest drummer in the world, but I think he sounds fine here. If he had done more I’m not sure it would have worked with the overall sound. Just my opinion 🤷‍♂️
