as a Muslim I find this really beautiful and majestic, God bless Jibra IiL, Gabriel, God bless our Christian brothers and sisters, our Kin, Peace upon you all
Wonderful comment to hear from our Muslim fellow citizen. If we in our Anglican Church can all respond as he has what a peaceful place this world could be.
Although I am Muslim,Church carols are very special and breathtaking for me.Remembering God and paying tribute to prophets are always good,it doesnt matter if you do that in Church or Mosque.I hope one day I can visit Church too.May God bless you all.❤
What a Beautiful song!!! This is one of those rare ones where you get Goosebumps when you first hear it, true Church music that makes you love and (most importantly) *fear* God, very good singers all around, a masterpiece!
The angel Gabriel from heaven came His wings as drifted snow his eyes as flame "All hail" said he "thou lowly maiden Mary, Most highly favoured lady," Gloria! "For know a blessed mother thou shalt be, All generations laud and honor thee, Thy Son shall be Emmanuel, by seers foretold Most highly favoured lady," Gloria! Then gentle Mary meekly bowed her head "To me be as it pleaseth God," she said, "My soul shall laud and magnify his holy name." Most highly favoured lady. Gloria! Of her, Emmanuel, the Christ was born In Bethlehem, all on a Christmas morn And Christian folk throughout the world will ever say: "Most highly favoured lady," Gloria!
My favorite Christmas Carol. I remember as a young child going with my parents to my elder brothers school and hearing it for the first time. He was in the choir.
LOVELY!!!! Just LOVELY!!!! The king's College Choir Cambridge Christmas carols (In the Bleak Midwinter is my VERY, VERY, VERY favourite) has always been played at the traditional mixing of the Christmas puds each year which is a LOT of fun!!!!!
Just as we cannot benefit from a wrapped gift under the Christmas tree until we open it, so gratitude can be seen as our way of opening the gift of God’s love intended by all the small and big positive events of our lives.
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. This is to all denominations: If Luke 1:26-40 is your Scripture of the Day, this is a good hymn to compliment it.
Basque medieval music. British victorian arrangement.... the most beautiful music ever created. This is why Europe must stick together, strong in it's diversity .
I had grown up hearing this Christmas carol on the vinyl LP entitled 'The Christmas Story' narrated by Franklin Englemann and Judith Chalmers, which my late dad owned, but interestingly enough this carol was not sung out our school or church, which is a shame as I think it's one of the best carols, which embraces both the Advent and Christmas seasons. It was only as an adult that I got the opportunity to be familiar with this carol as one of my parish priests re-introduced me to this in 2002. I love listening to, and singing this carol. 🙏🏾 🎼👏🏾✝ 🌲
is a Basque Christmas folk carol about the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary by the archangel Gabriel that she would become the mother of Jesus Christ the Song of god. A Basque folk carol, originally based on Angelus Ad Virginem, a 13th or 14th Century Latin carol,[2] it was collected by Charles Bordes and then paraphrased into English by Sabine Baring-Gould, who had spent a winter as a boy in the Basque country. The tune is called "Gabriel's Message".[3] It is commonly performed in an arrangement by Edgar Pettman published in his 1892 book Modern Christmas Carols. In 2012, Kalakan trio performed an arrangement of this song based on the Basque oral tradition during the introduction of the show of Madonna's MDNA tour.
@@whocares2126It is my right to be as weird as I want. I have had unusual experiences, some of which have been shared with some others & I am more open & honest about them than most because I believe in sharing our experiences & endeavouring to learn from them. I would rather be weird than boring if I had to choose. Maybe as you progress through life you will find you have some odd experiences too. All the best my dear.
My guess is that she did have an inkling; Who could go their whole life sinless and not notice? She might not have guessed, in fact she probably didn't, but once the Angel came, I bet she figured a good bit out.
@@joejoe1225 repent while you have time. No one knows when their last day is.,God exists, Jesus is Son of God and does not look kindly on those who mock His Holy Mother. No Mary, No Jesus, no salvation.
While certainly appropriate for a Christmas liturgy, it works better in an Advent carol service or Sunday hymn during advent Eucharist/Mass. The Annunciation was of course months before the birth in Bethlehem.
I first this moving carol sung on the radio by Janet Baker in the late 60s. Superb - surely someone has a recording (I used to have it on reel to reel type but stupidly threw them out in moving house). My wife also sings it very beautifully. But this will do as second choice.
i love this song my choir well its not my choir but im a soprano member and we did this song and i did not expect it to sound so close to this but other than that i love this song

In the fullness of time He ( The creator of the universe) prepared for himself by means of perfection, the most perfect vessel by which to descend from incomprehensible greatness to mortality, and thus, his Immense spiritual essence took upon himself the likeness of flesh & the human nature of the most magnificent human being to have ever been created!! by the hand of the Father (the Immaculate conception) Holy Mary We can all approach God, but in no way can we present ourselves to him in the way Holy Mary would, as his mother, ... as our mother, the most perfect mother, because her purpose has never been to seek praise or attention for herself but with the purest love, instead to bring all humanity closer to her Son, ... God, and of course nobody is closer to him than the womb which bore him, the very person of which he took human likeness!!! the Immaculate Conception; Holy Mary
"Γνώρισμα των αγγέλων είναι το να μην πέφτουν... Γνώρισμα των ανθρώπων είναι να πέφτουν, αλλά και να σηκώνονται πάλι, όταν πέσουν". .Άγιος Ιωάννης ο Σιναΐτης The characteristic of angels is not to fall ... The characteristic of humans is to fall, but also gettin up again, when they fall ". .Saint Johnathan of Sinai
I first learned this lovely carol when singing with the little choir at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Arcata, California. Then the Lutherans published it in With One Voice, and I started teaching it to students. I sing it faster than this, though.
The angel Gabriel from heaven came, his wings as drifted snow, his eyes as flame: 'From God, all hail,' the angel said to Mary, 'most highly favoured lady!' Gloria! 2 'Fear not, for you shall bear a holy child, by him shall we to God be reconciled; his name shall be Emmanuel, the long-foretold: most highly favoured lady!' Gloria! 3 Then gentle Mary humbly bowed her head: 'To me be as it pleases God,' she said, 'My soul shall praise and magnify his holy name.' Most highly favoured lady! Gloria! 4 'And so,' she said, 'how happy I shall be! All generations will remember me; for God has kept his promises to Israel.' Most highly favoured lady! Gloria! 5 Of her, Emmanuel - the Christ - was born in Bethlehem, upon that Christmas morn. And Christian folk throughout the world will ever say, 'Most highly favoured lady! Gloria!'
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end,.......upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. Isaiah 9: 6-7 (KJV) Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: Isaiah 26: 3-4. (KJV)
