I'm an Irish man that lived in Australia for years and I don't recognize these Lyrics to this song,I remember them being more colorful hahahahaha...I miss Australia, what a beautiful place it is and the Aussies are a rare breed, long may they live and prosper in peace....Up Australia you Legends!
Doc Neeson the singer for the Angels was born in Ireland (and bass player in this song) wrote the lyrics to this one. It was in Mount Isa Queensland that he first heard male audience members sing the colour that speak of.... Up Ireland as well you legends.
Nah, I know what you mean - but it just means you didn't understand the verses. Some of the most poetic verse in Rock history - and some great guitar. Fortunately, their live engineer was much better than the recording engineer.

Saw the Angels live in Aussie pubs. Doc Neeson belting it out in his tuxedo.. climbing the stage scaffold...his face in the blue light singing Baby out of the blue. One time I was close to the stage in a pub and Doc spat water over the crowd...landing on me. It was like holy water...RIP Doc and long live The Angels in Aussie rock mortality.
Doc was in a class of his own. Great musicians but Doc WAS The Angels. The fill-ins and pretenders are second-rate at best. Lucky for us, we can watch one of the greatest frontmen to ever come out of this country whenever we wish. Thanks for the great memories, Doc...RIP...🌺🌺🌺
Well said. Saw them in the early 80's at the Agora Ballroom in Tampa, Florida. At that time, I believe we had previously heard 'Marseilles' on AOR radio a time or two and after seeing them I could not believe they had not received the same attention to date that the great AC/DC had. Bought all of their music that had been released and they became one of my, and my friends, most listened to bands. Phenomenal talents and Doc performed as if he was at Madison Square Garden.
@@ROOKTABULA Bon was born in Kirriemuir, Scot, and his family moved to Australia when he was 8 in 1952, They moved to North Freo, WA in 1956 when he was 12. He was educated at North Fremantle Primary School, and at John Curtin Senior High School, WA. The original and the best. Doc Neeson was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. When he was thirteen in 1960, his family moved to Adelaide, South Australia. He served in the Australian Army in Papua New Guinea for eighteen months in the late 1960s. Massively underrated lyrics. Right. From. The. Opening. Line.
And they're both fresh off the boat, like a lot of Pop Icons, Australia has taken to heart, like, as you mention, and the BeeGees,ONJ, Jon Farnham, the Easybeats, etc, etc
@@rippi37 I saw them at the Armadale in Vic about the same time, then again in the early '80s, caught some of their big concerts, then saw them in Perth in the early '90s - timeless energy! People had started singing the response chorus by the last one, but they were above it.
@@presidentxijinpingspoxdoct9756Bridgeway is in Adelaide. I was there the night their PA blew the 3 phase power for the whole pub. So loud I could barely think. Drummer did a 10 minute solo while they tried to fix it and then the gig was abandoned.
ANGELS always loved the music and how wonderful they are thank you sharing it am l ever see your face again thank you sharing it beautiful wonderful as well
Great seeing them as young dudes again. I remember the first Countdown they did. Instant fan. Sad they fell to pieces a but but it’s amazing what they achieved after this.
Mate, they were unbelievably good live. Back in 1978 when I was 19 and saw them with my mates They were part of a group of three bands handled by the same booking agent. Triple Bill, Angles, Cold Chisel, and Icehouse. What great nights
We didn't realise back then that we were watching the development of one of the greatest rock bands this country has ever seen; fantastic lyrics, awesome music, one of the greatest front men in rock and absolutely sensational live... just pure talent. What a legendary band :)
the angels almost blew the roof of one night at south maroubra pub 1980s. we were young whipper snippers teens hanging around the back of the pub drinking kb cans. the whole croud started singing iam i ever gonna see your face again.then the croud would sing. no way get fucked fuck of. absolutely sensational. never forget it. now my kids admit the best singers and bands were from the late 70s-80s. cold chisel-australian crawl-divinyls-acdc-midnight oil and so many others. and the best thing about it you could see them at the local pubs.
East Donny High ..we won the Big M competition for them to play at our school and they played in our sports hall. Paper boys brought it home by pinching so many Big M's from all the surrounding schools milk drop offs each morning..haha..Respect Joffa,Big Tim, Pitsy , Strappa, Matty,Bud,Trent, Adam nwgffo:)
I toured Australia with a US basketball team years ago. In Darwin they held a big party and played this song. In the chorus we were all surprised to hear the locals all screaming "No way! Get F'd! F off!" (This is the abriged version). By the time the second chorus hit we all joined in! Great time, great song, great chorus!
Except this song is a blatant rip-off of Status Quo's song Lonely night and they had to pay Status Quo royalties. AND, AC/DC are not really Australian. They're basically a British band formed in Australia.
these are not the amps they used ...these are props for video ...at this time they were using the amps they had bought from Angus and Malcom which gave them their holy grail tone
i think it is an "off brand" chorus pedal, but he is pretty tight lipped about his FX chain in all the interviews ...very unique and cool, and what attracted me to Angel City ...does not use it live any more ...i do not understand???
I know, you say gimmick, but wouldn't he, the band be fore front on the evolution? I mean that in the most sincere way! Listening to some early tunes, mourning a middle school friend lost in a motorcycle accident, I'm 56, makes you hear music in a different way, kind of piecing together my own mortality! I know bleeding heart, just lost my father in law a few weeks back, trying to fall back on the one thing that unites all.. a cool tune! Wish you the best if you are out there in Aussie land!! Pipes!! To this day, Ac Dc rocked them best... thanks for listening... ✌️
An interview Doc gave (source not recalled) stated that the premise of this song was about an ex-girlfriend that had commited suicide. "Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again" The band was disappointed when the catch-cry of 'No way get f****ed f*** off' developed as an anthem.
The only reason they are called Angel City in North America is so they could avoid any potential law suits with other bands who used similar names to their own (The Angels), hence why they had a different name for international markets
