The words were never written as part of the original song. However Australian fans added those words to the song themselves (not at this concert, but well before) and they basically became unofficial words to the song. They’re added by the crowd at every live performance of the song. He’s wearing the shirt because of that.

The Angels had so many good songs. They should of been bigger overseas. So many great Aussie bands never got the exposure they deserved. I think we were just too far away back then. The world wasn't as connected like now and the big shots in America and Europe probably just brushed the Aussies off as pesky flys
@aussierhino471
@aussierhino471 Год назад
Agree absolutely! Ignoring the dozens of brilliant Aussie rock acts from the 70s thru the 2000s was America's loss. Generations of Americans never got to experience Aussie talent - it's only in the last few years, when YT reactors from the US and the UK started latching on to bands such as the Angels, Cold Chisel, Rose Tattoo, AC/DC, Baby Animals, Hoodoo Gurus, Australian Crawl, Noiseworks, Screaming Jets, John Farnham, Little River Band, Jimmy Barnes, Billy Thorpe, Midnight Oil, INXS, The Living End, Powderfinger, Crowded House, silverchair, Paul Kelly, Black Sorrows, Tina Arena, Vanessa Amorosi, Diesel, etc, etc, etc, etc, ad infinitum (I could name at least 20 more), that the rest of the world began to realise just how good we are. Before then, I swear the only Aussie acts know outside this country were the Bee Gees, Olivia Newton John and f***ing Air Supply. Sheesh!

My 15 year old granddaughter was at her boyfriend's uncle's wedding last week. Quite late during the reception the DJ played this. Her boyfriend's relatives were surprised and impressed when she knew the NWGFFO bit and joined in along with the adults. She later sent me a message to tell me all about it because I was the one who introduced her to it 😄. Another fun song along similar lines is Sykhooks' 'Why Don't You All Get Fucked'. In the 70's they would play it as the last song. Often the police were on hand ready to arrest them if they used the F word on stage but they didn't need to because the audience would sing it for them. The band would sing ' why don't you all ...' and the audience would sing 'get fucked'. (I may have also introduced my grandkids to this little gem of Aussie rock culture as well 🤘). As far as I know there is only one clip on RU-vid of them performing it live, it's at the Opera House. You need to search for Skyhooks Why Dontcha. FYI it is the norm for teenagers to swear when they think their parents aren't around and has been since I was a kid, in fact it was teenagers at a Blue Light Disco (a dance for underage kids organised by local police) who came up with the NWGFFO response.

When I was a 17-18 year old and going to night clubs with my friends back in 1983-84 in Brisbane Australia this song would come on and the place would be jumping. And yes, everyone in the club would answer with, "no way, get fucked, fuck off!!" Oh boy I have great memories of this - and it did not matter to us Aussies where we were or what we were doing when we heard this song, the response was always the same.

The Anges, like many Australian bands, toured up and down the East coast and inland, playing in pubs and bars. These were incredible times. Often the entire band were playing in a small corner of the packed bar, jostling with drinkers. The music was so loud the bar staff used lip reading and hand signals, the enpty beer galsses rattled across tables to destruction. Mount Isa is a rough as guts mining town in the middle of Queensland Australia, not known for its kindness to pub bands. The Angels were playing up there one pay night, the miners were drunk and full of fun and fights. When Doc Neeson asked the question they replied, and the legend was born.

When my wife was a teen, her mother, hearing the song, asked her what's so controversial about it. So my wife told her mother to say "Am I ever going to see your face again" to her younger sister. So my wife's mother walks up to my wife's younger sister and says "Am I ever going to see your face again?" So the sister, a bit confused, says "No way? Get fucked? Fuck off?"

A random guy in a pub in Melbourne said it first it became an Australian anthem

There is another song not related as such to this one that the crowd will show out Who the Fuck is Alice. But yea seen The Angels a couple of times. Once as a teenager and once just prior to Docs passing. The Angels played with Motley Crue and Bret Micheal's in Melbourne. Doc never lets you down. Replacing him these days is the Screaming Jets singer... Brilliant replacement as he is a powerhouse in himself. Dav Gleeson

Aussies do love a good sing-a-long. I was wondering where this was taped but the clue is the Ferris Wheel and big meat pie on legs at 11:18 - The Melbourne Showgrounds.

Swearing is fine, even from children, as long as it’s used in the right context, lol!…. I enjoyed this reaction very much. ❤️🇦🇺
