absolutely, I commented on a wiki, questioning how the wiki determined the item values since recently I've been seeing drastic and inconsistent changes in the values of items, and people were honestly quite rude in response to me, maybe they were moderators or something lol
i feel another big thing that has been affecting rarity especially with older items like tikis, headresses, party hats, etc has been just older players quitting the game with these items on their account.
oh for sure, ESPECIALLY jambassadors who have since left the game (Aparri, for example) and were gifted such HUGE items by fans that are no doubt collecting dust now. (Unless he gave the items away? idk, i quit for awhile and only just came back lol)
I remember as a kid when orange beards and top hats/archways were rare and it was so fun to trade- until spikes came along and everything went to pot.... at first it was fun and all but then their worth started surpassing alot of stuff and then the worth of higher items like HDs become crazy compared to before when it was so hard to try and get something like a top hat, or an archway/bubbletron or party hat/black long itself...

Honestly though, I don't understand how spikes are still considered "rare" They're everywhere, more common to see than an actual necklace or any other item. It's sad to see people seriously hoarding all there pixels just to seem "cool" but in reality, what do they actually win after all that? Pixels. They'll most likely quit after getting everything they ever wanted. Why can't we just share items after enjoying them? We're making the game harder for ourselves.
hot take: spikes shouldnt be worth as much as they are any more pretty much EVERYBODY has them now a days and its so annoying that they are still as worth now as they were ages ago when they actually were really uncommon
Spikes are used as a currency almost, and even though there are a lot of them in the game they are still worth something. Just because they are seen everywhere doesn't actually mean a lot, most people keep spikes on their trade list over other rare items they have because they would receive more trades for a spike. I'm just happy the system isn't like play wild's worth cause that is impossible to understand.
I was never really into the AJ economy, especially back when I was a more active player. I just wanted to get items that suit my aesthetics, y'know? And now it's like, how the hell am I gonna get hundreds of solids for a couple of things I've been seeking for nearly a decade at this point? I can't even colour swap the headdress I have because of how different the worths/values are. It's crazy lol
I agree. One of my favorite aesthetics in terms of clothing is shark tails or anything creature-like. So like tinfoil antlers, Dragon tails, skunk tails, shark tails, peacock feathers, yeti claws, three headed dragon mask, pumpkin heads etc. That type of thing. And some of these are so hard to get now but skme of them ive had one or twice since they came out. I even had the white and black crystal Pegasus tails. And traded them away. And then found out they went up. Because it was SO hard to find those gem dquad toys to get the codes for them. I regret ever giving up the crystal tails and shark tail. My favorite things to use for cool monster looks. Ans now all three are like impossible to obtain unless I win giveaways or something. This sudden spike in worth may result in more scamming and more hacking because, even though im not that desperate, some people are, especially when something they want is so impossible to get. This is partly why ive been focusing on ajpw until the worth settles down. And if it doesnt then i give up on trying and will give out the rest of what I have.
honestly disappointed not much players think in-store items can just as much make you look dope as wearing a bunch of exotic pixels. (course, only if you knew how to dress, not to boast.)

Honestly, this rise in worth is just catering to all the people who hacked and scammed. There's no way you can even catch up with this new system legitimately. Greed is really something man. People will always want more and nothing will ever be enough. I'd give this game another 2 years before it completely dies off.

Just checked the wiki and light pink headdress is now 300 solids/black long spiked collars. I'm starting to feel disappointed in how people treat the game.. Seems like all aj is, is now just a trading simulator and It's sad to see how people abuse items like this, especially headdresses. Since they ARE part of a Native Culture, i'm not native but i still feel very offended seeing all these items are is just "meaning doesn't matter, only prices/worths" This is why I moved to AJPW for the most part..
Same here. I have been into worth but only so I could understand it enough to get things I liked or wanted. Like cool nature items or a shark tail. Shark tails were only two black longs or less literally inbetween December 2020 and March 2021 and then in the span of literally a month it went VROOM

Personaly I don’t like the worth of stuff going up because people who are not that rare have a lower chance of getting a item they want because well let’s say they have 3 solids they could get a hd but not anymore because they are now 8 but what if they want a orange party hat it was one black long but now it’s 3 and then it makes people who aren’t that rare harder to get their dream item
People don’t even want black longs anymore, i know individuals have been selling “solids” for a dollar each. Maybe they’re not worth as much anymore because you can buy them for a low price on ebay. Greedy pre teens are just messing with the worth system now.

Finally Someone talked about it. I was trying to get a frickin shark tail in MARCH 2021 and it was only two black longs or more at the time and NOW its apparently more than 100 in less than two or three months and so its near impossible to get now. Along with almost everything else. This includes all promos currently. I guess its fine bit sometjing I was so close to getting in under a few months slipped out of my reach. It makes me regret every trsding my last shark tail. Tjis is the sole item i care about because I like it that much. Its cool and it, yeah. Agh The person I trsded it to told me that they went down. This was arounf when they would be two reds or more or less depending on the person. And well, I believed this person??? I was new to tading and I'm quite impulsive. So it is my fault. But it sucks how crazy the worth in this game gets. Animal jam play wild is hard to trsde in but ive had better luck with that because its easier to understand and get the things you want.

tbh it really makes no sense, solids and spikes haven't really dropped *significantly* in value nor have they become more easy to obtain with the rng system in adventures at least not to compensate for the pace and scale of how high these other items are rising. It all seems like these worth's are being inflated for personal gain for the people behind the wiki, its just to unrealistic with how everything is rising at such a fast pace and yet there is little change to the basics.
Hey! Nyancatmega here, Long ago i had an alpha sword (back when is was obtainable through pet codes) got it scammed, and ever since then trying to get it back! HOWEVER, the alpha sword is now 180 solids. It is legit impossible to get my item back, and i think its all stupidly rigged.
I was in the IWW server way back before i quit, around the time AJ was gifting mag furries on their stream. At that time, nobody knew it was what is now called a 'fake' mag furry, and i remember very vividly a moderator, admin, SOME staff member of some caliber who owned a 'real' one pitching an absolute fit in the discord because the 'fake' furries were dragging the worth of her most beloved item down into the toilet. Because nobody knew at the time there was such a minute difference, people were going on the safe side and only trading something like 15-20 black longs for it (when the original worth was something like double or even triple that at the time?) I don't find it hard to believe that the worth wiki mods have their hands in the pot, so to say. That they'd be willing to fudge worths of their favorite items just a bit. Like, when i quit, lphd was 20 solids. 3-ish years, and it shot up so fast? It's baffling.
The rarity system ruined the game for me. I used to love playing aj, making new friends, decorating dens, playing adventures… now most jammers are all about rares and worth, obsessing over PIXELS… it got so frustrating that I had to leave aj :/ 💔
The way the creators used all there time to make an educational game with fun activities for little kids and it just went to waist with the trading item aspect

It's easier to "overtrade" for an item before the actual item spikes in worth. I actually managed to get a purple beta tail with 1 black long and bad short with other small promos like a week before it spiked to 3-4 black longs, it was scary that I barely even got that tail

4:20 I remember sometime around 2018-2019 someone recycled 100 beta hoods at the time they were worth about 10 blacks longs after he released the video of him recycling them they went up to about 60 or 70 black longs same with the unreleased magenta jamaaliday hat
I do wish one day the rarity system will be more fair and reasonable. When I came back to AJ almost everything is rare and high in demand. I also didn't think Candy Buckets would be worth black longs so quickly and I'm wondering why?? The rarity of Headdresses significantly increased within 2-3 years and I'm not kidding when I say this but a RiM Headdress USED to be worth a Purple short collar - Purple Long Collar back in 2014-2015 till it became worth 1 Black Long and then so on till 10 Solids (Took me a bit to figure out that those are Black Longs). I will also like to note to be cautious when trading for items that don't have a "Rare" tag. The reason why is that I noticed throughout the years on both AJC and AJPW is that and item with a "Rare" tag will NOT come back in stores ever again.. Which is why the Old summer carnival items have "Rare" tags and the new ones are different color variants. This is why Headdresses and Headfeathers have gotten "Rare" tags (They didn't a long time ago even after AJHQ said they won't come back in stores and the later applied "Rare" tags confirms that for me). Rims are also not returning to stores as they are exclusively in stores on those mondays they released. Althoguh some are obtainable in adventures but adventures aren't stores. Keep in mind that ANYTHING that doesn't have a "Rare" tag MAY return to stores (Just like the bongos and fire pits that came back in the host beta party). I doubt everything without a "Rare" tag will return but I honestly don't see Yeti Faces or Candy Buckets with "Rare" tags yet (Unless they have new color variants when they come out during their specific holidays). Will mention glitched items are not likely to return in stores as they were glitched and removed quickly to begin with. But some of those items especially Magenta Furry Hats have became giveaway items before in the past as well as other magenta items (AJHQ saw that a lot of ppl like Magenta and now that color is not as rare as it once was). These are my opinions and I'm honestly just cautiously watching certain items return or not. I wouldn't be surprised if Candy Buckets returned to stores in the future when Night of the Phantoms comes out..

When I used to play animal jam only like a year and a half ago, headdresses were an entire zero less than what they are “worth” now. Rim was 1-2, now 10-12. Lphd was like 16, now apparently 250?? Dphd was like 4-5, now like 60?! What happened in my little break from animal jam..
The corrupt trading system on AJ is only going to further progress the shutdown of the game due to rares being one of the major motivators for people playing today. Newer players have little to no chance to get “rare” unless they use malicious ways to get items 😕 Great analysis video, thank you for the hard work!

@@flemmardedufond4339 According to Wikipedia, they were: “traditionally worn by male leaders of the American Plains Indians Nations who have earned a place of great respect in their tribe” and “they are seen as items of great spiritual and political importance, only to be worn by those who have earned the right and honour through formal recognition by their people” so most argue that these shouldn’t be an item in a kids game that (while they were in stores) anyone could just buy or trade or do whatever they want with. To put it in perspective, you could replace a headdress with a bible or something similar and picture how people would react.

Even as a member, I could confidently say...spikes and headresses are not much at the end at least on their own. Maybe because they're pretty overrated, they look cool but not my cup of tea. And I hope some are not pressured for that spike and hd member validation. And when that membership goes out...what then? I'm saying for those who are not able to pay for the full 12 months because of many important reasons. Hot, fire take: Newer players are quite demanding, and rude. Which is understandable. And some older players are quite selfish like troll trading (like flashing the spikes on screen then canceling which is different from changing ones mind), or very overly-confident, like saying 'I know my worth!" Or asking for a ridiculous number of spikes (let's face it) in a trade. However, even older players can skillfully scam players with the worth (but that's just what I have been comparing to for some items worth on the ajiw but I'm not sure if even that place is accurate, but from the comments, I guess not) Conclusion: Players like those really make the game not fun to play and experience and suggesting that one should not be fully indulged into the toxic trading culture in aj. Keep in mind, it's not Aj's fault for this, I just hope that these comments from various players can speak and realise to the 'aj masses' on how to continue playing aj in a healthy way. I'm just trying to decipher who makes the item worths go up? It doesn't make sense. The demand of worth on trading specific items makes the game fall into a deeper pit of trouble being the fact that even adults will use third party programs just to get a popular item. It's horrible that things have happened the way they have in AJC and AJPW. I dont believe any item, clothing or den, should be listed as a rare being that it sparks a lot of issues. This game started off pretty safe and simple but now the risk of cracking the game, hacking, and grooming has bloomed all over. Even if it were released in beta days, yeah it would be rare but why should it be? I dont see why the creators change a lot over just a few years of time. Personally, nothing is perfect and things will be flawed, so really I can't complain. This is just my opinion though. Stay safe Jammers. And people are more willing to work with you on trades because theres SO MANY more cool NEW things constantly added that gives everyone, includng non members, the chance to get things they enjoy. Cause literally all of the rarest things on play wild are non member.
The issue is the Wiki moderators. After I was banned in 2018, i made Metacøre my new account. I had literally nothing. I did some TFD adventures and got 2 spikes. I traded up and got mega profit because I previously knew the moderators. I knew what to play and trade and when they would change. Now i’m worth like 1k after selling half my worth. But im too lazy to log into the game to sell lol
what- the last time I was into trading the rare item Monday headdress was worth like 3-5 black longs, its worth 11 black longs now 😭, and thats not even close to the other headdresses in the game. I wish all headdresses were not only a reasonable worth, but also why can't people just color swap, like any other item 🙃.
The cp wings in ajpw 2020 used to be: Pink: 2-3 rare forest gauntlets Blue: 4-5 rare forest gauntlets Black: 6-12 rare forest gauntlets White: 15-18 forest gauntlets And now they are all worth like rare bowties!! 👁👄👁 The fact that I also had them, was hacked in december, all of them are my dreams (especially white cp wings) and I can’t keep up anymore.. ;-;

i've been playing for a while and i have not ONCE been able to get a black long collar, i got one gifted to me but i don't count that because i didn't earn it. And then i got hacked and after i got hacked i tried so hard to get my stuff back, but ajhq didn't even give the items i lost back and its so sad because i gave up after i realised i couldn't get the rim hd like i wanted. Hello kek. i met a hacker earlier he kept teleporting and going through walls in the artic wolf cave i asked him how is he doing these hacks and he said "lets play a game!" And sent me a trade with some wolf sticker for my armadillo lizard and duck i accepted and looked up what was the sricker he gave me. No results at all i went on the unreleased hacked items ajpw wiki and it had the wolf sticker there saying it was unreleased. I don’t know what to do with it can you help? My user is starevee it’s on my trade list for proof
