I agree with your thoughts 100%. I've noticed with a lot of fanbases that the worst thing that could happen to them is the refusal to encourage conversation and differing opinions. I've been pushed off entering some fanbases because of situations like that.
For me personally I don’t really go into everything with huge expectations even if it’s hyped up if I like it I’ll keep watching if I don’t I’m just gonna say I didn’t like it and leave it at that. It gets annoying when some people either won’t or can’t seem to do that.
I commend you, it’s easy to get sucked into hype & buzz around shows & at least for me, sometimes I have to sift through what my own opinions & observations are & what’s told or expected from the show
We're gonna see something very similar with the release of CSM. If it's adapted well it'll be gassed to the moon and will be the no 1 anime on MAL almost instantly but then it will be mass downvoted. As a HUGE fan of the manga I want to see it succeed but it's going to be a shitshow when it drops. One of the worst instances of this in recent times was Fruits Basket S3. Every episode was almost unanimously agreed upon by the fandom to be excellent and it got better and better every week. The ratings climbed until it reached the top spot only for FMAB fans to downvote it into oblivion. I feel like MAL should make it that an anime can only be rated and reviewed after it's finished airing. It won't solve all the problems but it's a step in the right direction imo
I feel you & sadly something with the hype & expected quality of CSM definitely may be the next victim but hopefully things do change to try to halt that shii as much as possible💯
