The AntiAsianness within the Black Community

The antiAsianness within the Black community is a serious problem. Just last year, we’ve seen hundreds upon hundreds of videos. This doesn’t mean that all Black people are responsible for these acts. And we should NOT generalize NOR perpetuate hate by blaming the entire Black community. But at what point after hundreds and hundreds of videos do these no longer constitute “isolated incidents” and rather something society should talk about?
When we’re having group-level public discussions on race-relations, we talk very often about the antiBlackness within the Asian community (as well we should). But we never talk about the antiAsianness within the Black community. I have not heard a single Black activist, thought leader, political leader, Black-led organization publicly state that antiAsianness within the Black community is a serious problem that must be addressed. All they’ve said pretty much sums up to “we stand with Asian people against White supremacy”. This is a narrative that people are telling themselves so that the elephant in the room need not be addressed. What’s actually happening is that the Black community has greater political power than Asian people, and that’s why we are seeing this disparate treatment in the public discourse we have about antiBlackness and antiAsianness. I talk about the Wokeism ideology that is underlying this phenomenon, and how according to it, you cannot talk critically about groups that are deemed more oppressed and that this belief system manifests itself in certain ways: that “Black people can’t be racist” or that “Talking about antiAsian racism within the Black community is divisive, when we need solidarity and unity.” We never say it’s divisive to talk about the antiBlackness within the Asian community. I say that it’s time that Black community leaders engage in race-relations dialogues in a more equitable manner, and explicitly state that antiAsianness within the Black community must be addressed.

@@codeandcoffee6672 I am reading a lot of comments like yours. It's kind of annoying tbh. You're implying that you're looking at the world around you from a bubble, that you have no impact on, or take responsibility for. But actually, you are just as much a part of the world as any other 1 person. If every 1 person would take responsibility for their own actions instead of watching the world go by from a bubble, things would improve. The world simply is made up of a bunch of 1 persons. Stop echoing this negative, non-productive narrative, and find the power within yourself to make the world 'eventually causing' peace, forgiveness and love. Look to the root of the problem, not the middle of it. We should call put leaders to do what, say something for you, no. As an interpreter who translates between Burmese and English over the phone, I support the message conveyed in this video. Through my experience translating 911 and police calls, I have observed that approximately 95% of cases where a Burmese individual is brutally attacked, robbed, or bullied, the perpetrator is typically a black person. I once translated a call where a Burmese family reported being harassed by a black family to the police. The Burmese family was so frightened that they were afraid to leave their own home. The black family harassed them by urinating at their doorstep, throwing stones at their children when they played outside, and even physically assaulting a Burmese child and stealing his bicycle. The situation has become so extreme that Burmese people living in America have created a derogatory term specifically targeting black people, which is never heard of in my home country of Myanmar. They often make comments like "It's the * again" and "Of course, the attacker is ***," indicating that they have come to expect this type of behavior from black people due to past experiences of prejudice and mistreatment.

I understand, trust me. I didn't see color as a kid, only people. I went to university in my late 30s and they shoved it down my throat, the "oppressed vs oppressor" agenda; and even though I knew it was wrong and fought against it (even though there wasn't much you could do to fight it without failing or being expelled), now I can't not see color. And I hate it. Despise my university experience. I honestly just want to see people and let them show me who they are without noticing such arbitrary characteristics but even with resisting, enough repetition works wonders. Despite years of being bullied and physically assaulted, jumped, having people spit in my face calling me their bitch, honky, cracker, and so on, having needed stitches and casts for fractured bones from it, the first time i stood up for myself and hurt them back i was expelled from school, sued by the kids mom because i guess because I was white my family was supposed to be rich and well off, and painted to be the bully in court. I completely agree. I'm a Taiwanese American, and almost all the anti-Asian racism I've ever encountered has been from Black teenagers. The White teenagers in my school aren't racist to me, and most of the Black adults I've met are very kind and inclusive to all people. I also almost never have time to do anything other than work, so I'm constantly very stressed (although most Asians have it harder than me). All it takes is for one Black person to be racist to me, and I'll be stressed the whole day. Over time, this has built up resentment for Black people in me, especially since I despise any form of injustice (possibly due to my autism, which in addition to my ADD, also make it very difficult for me to focus and work). Even though I know in my head that not all Black people are racist, I can't help but subconsciously dislike them a little. This makes me feel bad for the Black people who are not racist, but are judged by people like me who don't know them. Good luck, Harry! I hope you stop being discriminated. :C

I just discovered this guy's channel and it seems to me (from what I've seen so far) that he's just telling objective truths whilst offering his own personal feelings about values and humanity. This world crowds out truth and reason and pushes hate and violence instead. By dismantling common sense and establishing the juxtaposition of political correctness with sheer discrimination against traditional values and normal sets of behavior (be it se. xual, social etc) they create tension inside of society itself. There is the old saying "divide and conquer" which applies to today more than ever before, because we have a lot of splintered up groups in society, where we dont have any common denominator to rely on anymore. My grand parents and aunt was killed in LA by an African American (3 people shot at point blank range during a break-in robbery on March 11th, 1979). I was with a friend in Union Square, NYC when we were mugged by 5 African Americans in 1999. I have and am still friends with people from various races (African Americans included) and agree that it should not be generalized to all African Americans on Anti Asianness. I decided to move back to Asia in 2000 in order to cope with the anxiety as a result of those experiences. Not all experiences can be overcome and in my case I had to make that move to battle my demons.

I’m an Asian who grew up in a hispanic and black neighborhood. From kindergarten all the way to my senior year of high school, I was constantly mocked, made fun of, called names, shoved around, and avoided. It was very hard for me to focus in school because I developed a constant fear of being picked on. My PE teacher back in high school also participated in making fun of me, and suffered no repercussions. Because of my experience, I ended up becoming anti-social, and it’s taken a lot of effort to learn how to properly socialize with people now. I wish this problem was covered more often, because I now know I did not need to put up with that growing up.

I’m also aware that not all hispanics and blacks have it out for Asians. I’ve made some hispanic and black friends who are kind to me and take me out to have fun. Everybody is talking about “boohoo” sad stories being picked on as a kid. Newsflash, everyone got picked on as a kid. For whatever reason. Most kids are assholes. I know Asians who would say the N word with the ER at the end. But, guess what, how many Asian people are trying to overturn Affirmative Action? That’s actual racism. Trying to overturn a system designed to help Black people who were targeted by the government and denied ability to succeed. And Asians are trying to throw that out.
@M_Graves
@M_Graves Год назад
@@WatchinVidz First off, I’m just sharing my experiences like many others in this comment section have. I don’t see any issues with that. Second, not everyone was picked on as a kid. Anyone who’s attended a public school knows that’s not the case. In regards to Asians saying the N word with a hard R, of course that’s wrong. However, the same argument can be made for every other race. Racism has roots in every community out there. The issue of racism itself is constantly brought up everywhere but no definitive answer is ever agreed on and worked towards as a whole. So if you think you’ve got an answer you can rally the people to act upon, I’m all ears. Moving onto Affirmative Action being overturned, it’s not a simple topic to discuss. It isn’t just a two-sided coin and you just pick what side you’re on. They aren’t trying to overturn it because they outright hate black people, it’s more out of concern for themselves. My personal thoughts on it are that it’s a misguided way of thinking and I don’t see how overturning Affirmative Action would benefit AAs, because based off my knowledge on the matter so far, it would just be bringing the opportunities of the minorities in question down. And I don’t think the answer is bringing other minorities down. Like I said, it really isn’t an easy topic to go over, and that wasn’t the purpose of this video to begin with…
@WatchinVidz
@WatchinVidz Год назад
@@M_Graves yes, everyone was picked on. I went to an extremely diverse school and literally everyone from every background had something to say about each other. even the cool kids got picked on, cause there’s always someone who’s cooler, funnier, etc. And it’s not usually out of hatred, sometimes sure, but usually it’s just kids being kids. Share your experience, fine. But, people are using those experiences to downtalk Black people. As if we have some hatred issue. But you ignore the fact that basically every immigrant community that moves to America looks down on Black people. You know how most immigrant parents or grandparents view African Americans, don’t deny it. And I know how the current generation, deep down, views us too. It seeps out in small ways. Like when discussing Affirmative Action. You see, we can’t just talk about the parts that are convenient for your argument. Because we need to look at the bigger picture. So yes I’m on the side of keeping Affirmative Action. Just like you said, dismantling it is a move that the Asian community thinks will benefit them, and they don’t care how it will affect my community. That’s racism. See, people get it twisted. Making jokes and poking fun, is mean, sure. Prejudice if you want to think about it that way. But, racism.. that’s deeper. That’s maliciously using the system to your advantage at the expense of another community. At the heart of it, Asian Americans think they are smarter and that the “seats” at Harvard are being given to dumb, under motivated people, mostly Black. So, let’s be racist and change the system so we can continue positioning ourselves above them. So, how do you fix that? Because, truth is, I doubt it’s ever going to be “fixed”. Humans are tribal animals, who pick their “pack” of others who think or look like them, and rank themselves against others. There’s always going to be someway we categorize ourselves. And racism is so far baked into society. But, one thing that’s NOT gonna help is overturning laws from the civil rights era that my community literally died for so your community can go to an Ivy League school. You know why Black people deserve Affirmative Action? Cause we literally built these places, from brick and mortar, and were denied access legally and systematically. How can we fix racism if immigrants come over here not acknowledging or respecting that history, trying to change it for themselves, then pointing the finger at us claiming racism.

He did not want to borrow but was trying to rob me. I refused. He punched me in the mouth and I fell. I punched him in the stomach and we wrestled on the ground. Finally he told me to get lost. A week later I was walking in the area and he recognized me. I thought I was in for a beating. To my surprise he just walked by. He knew I was not going to give it up. They lived in a white majority area, they cared about school, their grades, the family reputation, were super athletic, super kind amazing people etc. When they moved away to university they tried to make new friends (of all races). Their black friends would always tell them they “sounded white”, “acted white”, seemed “uppity”, sounded like they spoke “too proper” etc. They are all successful, have good professions and are married now. They all married white people, even though they had all dated people of various races when they were single…..it just so happened that they fell in love with white people and married them (they didn’t set out to marry white people). When my friend married her husband, her extended family members (not her parents) said “You’re lucky. Successful, handsome white men don’t usually like darker black women. Hang on to him!” Their reaction when her two brothers both married white women? Anger. Anger that two smart, successful, well off, good looking black men “wasted” themselves by marrying white women. Anger that white women were “snatching” up the “good black men”. The way they spoke, and viewed things was disgusting. They told the white girls (that married the brothers) that they must have “jungle fever”, and that they should “stick to their own instead of stealing the black men”. F’n insane. These people think they’re NOT racist and that white people are (including the ones that married and had kids with their black nephews/niece/cousins…….totally delusional.

They play games with society. They have the power to choose which countries, cultures, or individuals will excel or fail. They say life is what you make it, and that's true... to a point, but at some point in our endeavors, we all need the assistance or approval of a superior authority to accomplish certain goals. That is even true with health insurance chosing which diagnostics and treatments are and are not covered for this person over here and that person over there. I'd be much more supportive of black people if I hadn't lived around them for almost 70 years in Philadelphia. I've taken a back seat to blacks on many occasions starting with affirmative action in the 1970s when I was told (by a black HR worker) that I was the wrong color to get a job at the local steel mill. I have stood down so that blacks could have more opportunities and I've never in my life hurt or hated anyone, but at this point in my life, I have to say I was wrong, my parents were wrong, my fellow hippie protestors were wrong. In Philly, I worked as a laborer and I worked often in the Asian section, including working with Chinese immigrants. Never did I feel threatened or hated by them, even though language differences sometimes made communication hard. We respected each other and real friendships evolved. Black friendships evolved too, but it was hit or miss, and mostly miss. As soon as a problem arose, the race card got pulled, every single time. To their credit, I was once even involved with the NAACP and they thanked me for being fair and told me the black person who called me a racist was the one who was at fault. Now I'm not sure, I think I may have finally begun to feel real racism because I hate some black people pretty much just hearing them say stupid and hateful things like I hear and see in some of your video clips. I believe God has given them many gifts, including a life in America, but I don't think God gave many of them the gift of higher intelligence, and I believe that is the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about. It's fine to boasts about being better in sports and music and even acting, but let's not suggest that Asians and white people might be a little smarter on average. Noooooo. Like Chris Rock said , I love me some black people, but you know what, I also hate the same ones' Chris says he hates. Sad truth of reality: there was no proof that the George Floyd situation was racially motivated. The media and the black liberals just took advantage of the situation to silence the cop and cause worldwide hatred towards him without any proof. Black woman here, and thank you so much for bringing this up! The discourse and hypocrisy in our own community is out of this world. I remember how relieved my brother was when he asked me if black people could be racist, and my answer was a resounding yes! He had gotten into a whole argument with a group on facebook who were claiming every social, political, and religious take on why black people couldn't be racist due to a technicality. Like what? This isn't law school where we're analyzing the oxford comma. EVERYONE, regardless of their race, can be racist! Hell, a large majority are racist against their own people! We just call it Colorism. Victimhood is rampant, but that status is only granted to black men. We'll hear about "da white man" this, etc, etc, but we'll RARELY hear about the violence black men commit against black women. A black man can degrade a black woman, abuse her, and kill her, but they still expect her family and the rest of the community to keep hush on it so they don't send "another brother" to the police. They still expect black women to march for them regardless of this. And the crazy part is... WE STILL DO. It's like we're expected to ignore every violent act committed against us because "the whites" are still in power. That being said, at least the women speaking on this in our community are gaining popularity, and ARE able to talk about it to the extent that it is now. I can't even imagine the hurt, confusion, and anger I would feel looking around and having _no one_ say a peep on what is clearly systemic violence. Until you spoke on it, _I_ didn't even know it was to this extent, or what was happening, so thank you for being brave and being one of the firsts to voice it.

But you can't ignore how in the black community black girls are expected to take up more, complain less, march, and be activists while Black men are often times infantilized to avoid accountability. "He was too young, he got into the wrong crowd at a young age, his father left his home." But somehow, a BW will catch blame for his own father leaving the family. And for the record, black lives do matter, but it was people in our own community who diminished the message by catering to the crowd too sensitive and too dense to realize the nuance in that statement. And then it diminished even more when the cases of violence against black women by the men we were protecting were silenced and/or straight-up ignored.

I also will not ever forget how left-wing Korean-American activists from Berkeley came down to LA and tried to portray the whole "uprising" (their euphemism for vengeful racial violence) as the fault of white society. They actually tricked some of these surviving shop-owners, many of whom did not speak English, into taking part in a news conference in which they put words in their mouths. I had seen what happened on live tv feed---gang members had actually driven across town to attack Korean business---and I was so disgusted by this propaganda that I ended up having a complete about-face politically. I began reading black conservative authors such as Shelby Steele and came to accept their interpretation of race relations. I suggest you look into some of these authors. The three of us were the only people in the hall. Yesterday, another Black person was reassigned a seat next to me in class, and in that same day he insulted Chinese people right in front of me. Even though I'm not Chinese, as an Asian, I felt unimportant and invisible. If so many Black people would be racist to Asians right in front of my face, what do they say among themselves? What do they say at home? I don't have anything against Black people; even racist Black people. I know one of the Black people who called me "chink" to be nice (and a Black person in Italy who was making racist Chinese noises even apologized). However, the fact that almost no one knows about this problem, let alone the extent of it, keeps me up at night. If you are reading this comment, please share this video with as many people as you can. Multiple people will read this comment, and I hope multiple people will share this video, and that the people who they share it with will share it with even more people, until this issue is common knowledge. Everyone thinks racist thoughts. Even I used to profile Black people based solely on my experiences with the few Black people I've met. If you're wondering if you are racist or sexist, I encourage you to take a seemingly innocent sentence you say to someone and pretend you're saying it to someone of a different race/sex. If it seems out of place, there's a good chance what you said was racist/sexist. There's a reason why so many people are racist; it can be hard not to be. However, in my religion, the important thing is to always forgive everyone, no matter what they've said or done to you. Don't take the actions of a few and let it influence your perception of an entire race. That makes you the racist.

Wrong. You're defining racism incorrectly. You are confusing "racism" with "bigotry". They are two entirely different things. In America, B people amount to bw 10-13% of the population. You have to be acutely aware that an ideology is gaining its own momentum in the USA that has the potential to be much more destructive to your country and peoples than one may expect. It is important to halt its momentum through discourse while that is still an option. To Americans I say do not let fear stop you from discourse. Also news channels like African Diaspora News Channel pretty much shut down Asians for having the audacity to talk about Asian American issues. Asian Americans have stood up for black people vocally. It would be great to see African Americans do the same thing. I seldomly see it but I’m grateful for the ones that do stand up for us Asians 💙 Luckily most black people (almost all of them) I know of aren’t like that. Unfortunately, there is one group of "untouchables" who play a disproportionate role in souring race relations, both through their influence in business, the media, and the university system, and they have placed them self in a position which is beyond all criticism. They're "white" when it suits them, and they're an "oppressed" religious and ethnic minority when it suits them. It may not be _all_ of them, but they are certainly represented beyond all proportion to their percentage of the population. I think the bigotry of the left towards black people needs to be exposed. The left tells black voters they can do no wrong regardless of their actions giving them license to act poorly and blame it on external factors. It destabilizes and destroys poor black communities. Democrats did it in the civil war, they did it in the Jim Crow era and they are still doing their best to keep black people poor and weak. The only way out is to embrace personal responsibility and that is so far from the norm on the left that it may never happen. Eliminate the Democrat party and the 90% of Republicans that are part of the liberal Uni-party and all of this stuff gets better instantly. Culture flows from the top down.
