Dr. McGill's wisdom put me back horizontally, and back into training.. 100's of hours of physio based on his teachings , 1000's of hours of " the big three" plus " , ":stirring the pot" and calisthenics, years later , I am almost fit for a job in circus , brush off the doom mongering spinal surgeon's findings and his promises of an inevitable surgery..so far so good.. I am eternally grateful ..

Many clients get trapped in habitual postures and repetitive movement patterns that cause their pain. Ask yourself, "What motions, postures, loads and activities are triggering your pain?" Instead of paying clinicians to perform procedures, we need a health care system that trains clinicians to perform accurate, precise physical assessments and then prescribe functional, pain-free postures and movement patterns.

There is very little info about Tarlov cysts that cause back pain. Radiologists say they’re incidental because they require specialized treatment and most neuros won’t address them. Read your own MRIs to see if they are noted. Dr McGill has actually had a patient with Tarlov cysts and sent her to a specialist because he couldn’t help.

Same here. Before injury i was a competitive fighter ever since i was 8yrs old. Parents had me in muay thai and japanese jiujitsu from age 5 due to bullying. first time i was ever punched in the face i just turned 5 and was hit by a 9yr old bully wearing a gold ring. Busted my eye wide open. Started doing mma at 18, at 21 got slammed real bad, whole spine felt like it was being cooked by a blowtorch and electrocuting me. Pain is 24/7. im 34 now and lost all of my 20s. Each day is just trying to survive. The physio person i saw treated me like i was an idiot who knew nothing about physical fitness etc despite them knowing my sports history. Not once did she ever even touch my spine. my sessions were her having me on spin cycle for ten mins then stupid stretches, nothing else. Absolutely ridiculous. My injuries are excessive. At t9-10 the spinal cord itself is twisted into the vertebrae and you can literally see on the mri the csf fluid being backed up below the point of impingement, above it you dont see much fluid. Think of it as a hose pipe with a kink in it not allowing water to flow properly. Its this thats causing all this pain, yet docs treat me like an idiot despite the fact ive spent all these years studying the spine and can clearly communicate with the docs with the terminology they themselves use. I get disregarded alot because of my age which is bs, i know for a fact if i was 60 this wouldve been resolved in months 😞😢 Theres also several endplate fractures and bulges, the bulges arent horizontal, outwards like normally do, theyre vertical into the vertebra and fractures themselves. Sorry for the rant guys lol im sure you guys understand how torturous and annoying it is

How does one find a doctor or chiropractor who is trained by him? I know I can’t see him, but I’m almost 67, and have had back pain since I was a teenager. It’s gotten worse, and I can’t move by the afternoon because I’m on my feet. I’m only 4’ 9”, and I’m single, so I have to lift things by myself. I also have a lor… something. It’s not a posture problem. It’s a spinal deformity. I don’t know how to treat it. My pain doctor just want to give me meds, injections that I can’t take, and an implant that goes near your spine. I would try that, but I’m so reactive whenever I have surgery and almost died on the table from breast implant removal, and I developed a bacterial infection that was potentially deadly. I don’t want to live the rest of my life in this pain. I want to enjoy my time left!

Dr. McGill has a lot of knowledge but I am always perturbed by his arrogant side. It tends to emerge in every interview at some point. He also does not really like to share any actionable advice and instead looks down upon lesser therapists from a very high throne. This young British therapist interviewing him is caught like a deer in headlights and a lamb to the slaughter.

I think you’re mistaking his arrogance for his passion to try to get across very complicated subject matter to the common public. He wants to help people in pain and is trying to explain his knowledge and experience in the most digestible way possible. He shares a ton of actionable items. Read his book or watch some interviews of his. And in I wholeheartedly disagree about the host. I thought he did great and asked the most important questions in the little time he had to get the most valuable subject matter out of McGill.

You must be watching a different man than me. Stuart McGill is as humble as they come. He is correct about most practitioners, they don't care for the individual. They don't have time. Get his book Back Mechanic and follow his program precisely. Or, you can just continue bashing the messenger.

This man has spent decades on his craft and spent a lot of energy on writing books, he’s not going to give tons of free information when it’s all in his books that are wonderfully illustrated.

I might normally agree with you and I also originally had a similar opinion but honestly after studying two of his books and applying them the man has bragging rights A real scientist in my opinion

Yes McGill gets irritated by the amount of misinformation and doctors treating back pain simply for $$. It’s also not just about a doctor visit and getting fixed YOU must put in the effort to get better. Back pain isn’t a simple fix and fixing learned behaviors isn’t ez. I think he’s arrogant but he’s brilliant.
