I almost use every weapon, the only weapons i don't use are Sword and Shield, and the Hunting Horn, everything else i use them a good amount of times.

And that's super frustrating! Rathian isn't hard, but Rathalos is just annoying. Poison even after you've cut his tail off is icing on the cake.

I always figured apex's are just monsters forced into a deviant-like state due to being caught in the eye of ibushi's storms and gas, hence their darker color and being the head of a large rampage wave

Wasn't the Soulseer a Mizutsune who fought Zinogre, got it realy rough(got eyes badly damaged and thus lost sight) and now is constantly mad at everyone?

I actually always thought the Apex monsters were tied in with Deviants AND MH4U Apexes. The lore of the Rampage is that Narwa and Ibushi has an influence on the monsters that make them run wild. The Apexes are the result of these monsters surviving the rampages and getting stronger, like the Deviants. There's another monster that does something similar, Gore Magala. It infects monsters with it's Frenzy Virus, and makes them go on rampages. If they survive and overcome it, they become Apexes. I feel like these are tied. Gore Magala is a baby Elder Dragon that can make monsters stronger with its influence, not unlike Ibushi and Narwa. So maybe both instances are the same, and all Apexes eventually become Deviants.

It doesn't help that most monsters have different weak points for shot/ranged weapons than melee weapons.

So what you're saying is Deviants. Just do Deviants again instead of giving it a name that came from 4U that gives worse rewards than what came from that game.

Unfortunately I rarely save my sets and cant remember much. But I can say I used the actual full sets, no layered armor, with a 2 level 2 deco slots charm. I usually pick the armor which skills already benefit a specific weapon and then add to it with decorations.

@@JustSomeMemes Are all of your armor upgraded? Apex monsters have one shot attacks for me. The tail whip of Rathian definitely is one of them. Then there's the poison so even with Moxie I die instantly.
