Academy Award-winning director Roger Ross Williams presents The Apollo, a chronicle of the unique history of the New York City landmark. The Appolo premieres November 6 on HBO.
They actually only spend a short amount of time actually talking about the history of the Apollo, and even that is just a partial history. They don't talk about much of the '80s or the '90s or the 2000s at all and the majority of the documentary is a "We had it so bad" story of African Americans and not necessarily in entertainment either! Just a plain ol' "It's tough to be black and police kill us" story with 30 minutes of Apollo footage from the 30s-70's.
