The Appalachian Trail in winter. I wanted to upload this content that made up the "Shoutout Video" I previously made. I mentioned I was going to produce this video.
Regarding the winter of 2012; it was too warm, and here in southern Maryland I kept my windows open almost everyday. The Trail was a bit colder, but not by much.

Who actually made the trail?...Was it always for recreation or was it used for something?

Thanks. The video was shot with a few different old Nikkor lenses, and a Canon 7d camera body.

A guy named Benton Mackaye came up with the idea in the 20's while sitting a top a mountain. At that time there were a lot of trails along the appalachians with huge gaps. Myron Avery from Lubec Maine was responsible for the dream come true. He was the first one to walk the entire distance, with a milage wheel, and figure out where the trail should be. Myron pushed that wheel the entire way, and from there it is history. Myron was one amazing guy. Tough as nails Mainer.

Thanks, and that is great news about the new moon on a shower night. What perfect timing. I feel a fever coming on. I may need to call in sick next month.

We got screwed out of 13 inches here. Our average is 15 inches a year. I had the windows open almost the entire season. It reached 80 once in February I think. A big rip off from old man winter around here that's for sure.

Thank you Matt. The Star-Lapse was of Luray VA. The DREWnetwork is very close to there somewhere in a secret location.

Your work is truly amazing. It really captures the trail. The cinematography is top-notch, and the editing is great. It always makes my day when I see a new video up from you.
