I have long distance hiked over 20,000 miles on the Appalachian Trail, and covered every inch of this 2,180 mile footpath at least 7 times. Simply for the love of adventure, and for the love of this amazing trail. Oh the memories
The summit sign looked a lot different in 2009 then it does today. I notice that it was freshly painted then. It's been replaced at least once since then, and the current sign is looking pretty worn out.
When you people from Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York. Come up here please start picking up your trash, and stop carving your names into trees and shelters. Stop your vandalism and bad habits, that made your states into the dumps they are. Nobody cares what your name is or if you visited in 2020 or 2021 or even 2022. Enough with the graffiti pigs.
I met Napoleon at Shaws this year. He's done two thrus of the AT since this, and thousands of miles on trails across the globe. He's one of the most well-spoken men I've had the pleasure to meet, and he'll preach if you let him. Truly a special human
Hi kookiemoose! I love the time lapse so beautiful! I was wondering if I could use this content to add as a short intro in a work video I am making. Please let me know if it is alright to use this content. Thank you very much!
Poorly managed and polluted by the rangers that work there. They burn all types of treated wood there and other hazardous substances instead of dumping them in accordance with the Law. The EPA (Federal) should do a surprise inspection. They also perform these control burns that achieve absolutely nothing but burn alive turtles, rabbits, raccoons, and other species that cannot outrun the fires set. I have seen this with my own eyes and the results of these control burns are totally in-effective as the vegetation is back to what it was in just a few months. The smoke is horrific and has caused health problems for some workers. The State Natural Resources has such a big pollution footprint there that is horrible but no one knows. Not to mention the trash that people leave since there are no receptacles and people are expected to bring out their own trash. This makes it very convenient for the lazy rangers that ride around in their nice truck but it is killing the environment there. It is all about making money for the DNR and the Park Service. Conservation agencies should be outraged. More oversight is needed since the Park Manager is incompetent.

Growing up in the suburbs of DC, going to the Monuments and the museums all time for school field trips started to become redundant. It wasn't until i grew-up that I started to really appreciate what DC stands for. Capital of the Free-world and my my home city baby
Did you know that a thru hike is an extrodinary thing to accomplish for a tiny human being in a big big universe? I tip my hat and hope you have new adventures to trek.
