The Archaic Reason Hot Dogs Come In 10-Packs And Buns In 8-Packs 

Do you think this is a reasonable explanation, or is there no excuse for the quantity mismatch anymore?

Archaic or no, innocent reason or no they can still FIX it so that they come in the same number. There is NO excuse for this to continue.

I always thought that he two, extra Hotdogs were in the package because of my Beagle, because she would always eat two as soon as they were hot and ready to eat right off the grill. She also loved hamburgers too! Both plain, no bun.

Oscar Mayer sells "Bun Length" Hotdogs in an 8-pack. 1 pack of those with a pack of buns and you're all set.

40 is the least common multiple, so 4 10-packs of hot dogs and 4 8-packs of buns (plus a freezer to keep them in) solves the problem. But with the advent of 12-packs of buns, you can reduce the LCM to 20: 2 10-packs of dogs, an 8-pack and a 12-pack of buns. So that cuts the necessary investment in half. Progress!

I want to know why Costco does sell the buns they use in the food court for the Costco Dogs since they do sell packaged hot dogs. The closest thing I found is sandwich buns.

There are always people at a Barbeque who prefer just the hot dog and no bun, so having a couple more of just the meat, makes sense.

Wonder bread? I rarely eat hotdogs, and NEVER eat Wonder bread. My parents didn't even feed me that shit as a kid.

In 1982 I read the white paper entitled Why do hot dogs come in packs of 10 while buns in 8 or 12 that worked out mathematics for this. I was in the C-MU graduate school of engineering and the paper was a big hit with my friends. The mathematics was beyond us and the paper was long. (I need to find my copy of it - it was definitely a keeper.)

It's just cheap garbage hotdogs that come 10 in a pack. Good ones come 8 to a pack. Unless you Buy a jumbo 2-1/2 or 3 pound pack like I do and freeze some.

Last two hot dogs I cut up and pan try then put in macaroni n cheese. Easy fix to the 8 buns to 10 hot dogs scenario.

If you get the "bun-length" hot dogs, they come in packs of 8. Not a prob.

I changed over to using a slice of bread. Works great and less calories/carbs, and you don’t hafto worry about buying other types of bread

It used to disgust me lol. But, I would buy two packs of buns and then either get another pack of hot dogs and eat a couple without a bun, or make pb&j with the Xtra buns. 👍

Never been a big deal. I just boil up the extra dogs and eat them with relish, mustard and katsup on a plate sans the bread.

Yuck all the bread company's Wonder bread. I did like Wonder bread as a child and I vowed not to eat it as an adult. I'm hoping everyone else. Get on board because Wonder bread would be the last . Bread company that I want to deal with. Just yuck.
