I'm one of the guys that worked on the film. You're right about all the inspirations (even thought I never played dead space :D), we really see the Archiver as a tribute to all the stuff we love in the sci-fi (from books, movies, video games etc..). If you pay close attention you'll see we hid a NES controler and a flux capacitor in the cockpit ;) Also there's not much story but this film is meant to be an introduction to a universe, a bit like a game cinematic. I'm glad you guys liked it!
This is awesome CGI man! This could be turned into a great video game. Plot: You are The Archiver, an advanced AI modular combat platform that is tasked by the Cy-Core to catalogue and archive all the living plants and animals of a dying world. In order to archive a plant or animal you have to extract a DNA sample from it. Each plant and animal sample will reward the player DNA points that can be used to upgrade your combat platform. Rare samples will award more points. While collecting DNA samples you will have to explore the alien planet, fight off beats and stop the alien invaders that are trying to terraform the planet thus destroying all your efforts to archive the flora and fauna. I think it would make an interesting third person action game. :)
hey everyone I'm one of the guy who made this film. thanks for all the cool comments, actually we're french, not russian and we have an "official" vimeo page for the film with more info and a making of :)
This was awesome and looks like it needs to be a movie! super great detail and totally got my attention, but did anyone else click on the thumbnail thinking this was a random Russian upload of a daft punk song bc of the robot helmet guy?
Joe W., I just saw what you saw and I agree, that was pretty hot. It was mellow, lowkey, but lots of potential for amazing action. I guess we are the only ones in an english speaking land who have realized how cool that video was.
This was a great animation. Clean crisp graphics with alot of attention to detail. This is HOLLYWOOD material. Keep producing more work. More themes. Every and anything. Excellent job!
3:24 Am I only one who thought that scene was a re-image of the Matrix scene when Neo went to talk to the robot master and he got plug-in by all those wires?
