The Arctic by BMW R1200GS - Episode 12 - The final push: It's time for the final episode in my most adventurous tour to date! In this series I hook up with Motorrad Tours to ride my BMW R1200GS to the arctic circle via the brilliant motorcycling roads of Norway. In this episode we return home via the sights of Holland including (of course) some windmills and the surprisingly interesting town of Rotterdam - Stay tuned!

I agree with your assessment. I spent a few hours each day. They kept getting better and better. Honestly this is just about the most meaningful and well done "VLOG"'s on the net! I too, do not see how I could ever go there. Fantastic story and pictures, done by a kind hearted and giving man. I have a question if you don't mind. I want to get back on a GS. Life got in the way about 10 yrs ago. I lost my job and and to sell my 2007 R1200GS. I can not afford a new bike and I do not know if I can save up for a 2013 to 2014 GS liquid cooled. That said, are the 2013's and up that much better than the previous iterations? A 2010 - 2012 R1200GS can be bought in the USA for around $9,000. A 2013 - 2014 R1200GS water cooled costs ~ $13,000 to $14,000. Thats a lot of money to save when one is past his working years. By THE WAY... if you ever make it to the states, there are places to rent bikes. The Great Smoky Mountains, the painted desert, and The Rocky mountains are sights to rival your Arctic trip! ...and every one drives on the right side of the road! Come on over. A little late to the game here ( Feb21/21) but I have thoroughly enjoyed this tour, kind of feels like memories of actually being there on the tour. I must say that although a very minor point - the microphone on that GoPro certainly picks up the motor sounds, distant sounds and your voice much much better than the current models. Don't know what the technological change in the last two models is but it really has lost touch with the real sounds. Really enjoyed the final slide show as well, great photos. Thanks a bunch for this enjoyment you have brought to the current times we are now enduring and with your help, we continue on. Ray

A little late, 6 years to be precise, but I’m planning a trip to Norway this summer and you’ve certainly caused me to consider several different places that weren’t on my original plans and that’s a good thing! What a great adventure that was, what incredible weather, 20° odd in the arctic circle, amazing! I’ve learnt a lot and I have enjoyed every minute, thank you. You obviously have a wonderfully understanding wife and family as do I, luckily. The intention is an open ended trip north maybe to Nordkapp, maybe south through Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania……maybe not we’ll see. Weather, energy, cost all come into it! Thanks again, wonderful! Sam

LOCKDOWN UK. Over this last week it’s been a great escape to travel with you on these tours, I’ve seen many episodes. Loved the North Coast 500, and north Wales tour, thought provoking memories of places I visited last summer, in the R8. Some of the scenery of this Arctic tour was breathtaking, even on screen via GoPro, so I can only imagine the reality of being there physically. Belson was emotional, thanks, I hope to visit one day.

Hi Andy, just finished binge watching this series, great job mate, thoroughly enjoyed it. It's brought back a lot of great memories of my time in Norway and what an incredible ( although very expensive ) place it is. My friend and i were working there in 2006 ( in the oil & gas industry ) and the company kindly agreed to pay for the ferry crossing on one of our rotations, instead of flying us back. You could get a ferry from Newcastle back then, ( sadly no longer sailing ) which called to Stavanger, Haugesund ( where we were based ) and Bergen. So we had our bikes out there for a month, mid July to mid August, what an experience and like you, we were blessed with some amazing weather. All of our ride outs were in the Stavanger and Bergen regions, absolutely spectacular scenery and amazing roads, as you know. But without doubt the best days riding we had was our ride to the eagles nest café, near Lysebotn, which sits on stilts about 650 meters above the Lysefjord, incredible. There's a great road, full of switchbacks and a tunnel down to Lysebotn from the café and we were then lucky enough to get the ferry down the fjord, back to Stavanger. An incredible 12 hours ride out, that i doubt I'll ever beat, highly recommend it and that region of the country if you ever return mate. Love the channel, keep up the great work mate, ride safe 👍👍

Epic tour video TMF, very well done. We’ve just got back from a 220 mile day trip across North Yorks through County Durham and into Cumbria to Ullswater and back. Hello Andy, I love watching your tours and I always watch all episodes. I can't remember if I mentioned previously, but I might be screwing with your RU-vid stats as I generally watch on the lounge big screen TV and it's a real pain trying to find and click on the thumbs up icon. I was really impressed with Norway and its beautiful vistas. The fjords, bridges, waterfalls and great driving roads are impressive. The high temperatures you experienced at times would have been frustrating, especially wearing all your gear. The Bergen-Belson visit was obviously emotional and I felt the same watching the video and snaps. As you stated or words to this effect, it's unbelievable what humans can do to other humans. Definitely a long trip but I'm sure your wife and kids were glad to see you safely home again. Thanks for the great tour.

Fantastic series Andy, having found myself hospitalised with a suspected heart attack this weekend it was a welcome 6hrs taking my mind elsewhere, certainly looked like the trip of a lifetime with how lucky you were with the weather.

Have watched the whole series over the last few days doing a little vicarious touring, what a fabulous time you had! It's rather a two edged sword though as it reminds us of what we're missing in these dreadful times - how I yearn to get out on the bike again. Tentatively booked a tour for the Summer but trying not to be over optimistic about it coming off. Many thanks again for a smashing series.

Just watched your entire Norway trip, have to say it was first class, been in touch with Motorad about booking for 2022. You did some big mileage and the trip to the war memorial was very stirring stuff.
