this is the area where many maltese people live here in malta. i have been getting a lot of messages to show areas where maltese people live, and this is Zurrieq, a village where predominantly Maltese people live. It is located in the South part of Malta. This area is populated with roughly around 11 000 people predominantly Maltese. This area in Malta has pretty much everything, from shops, barbers, hair stylist, supermarkets, bus connections around the island. as well the famous Blue Grotto is forming part of this village. I recommend this area for people if they want to see where and how maltese people live, i personally enjoyed this little tour in Zurrieq as i get to know how the maltese people act around non maltese people, very friendly! we get to visit the Wied Fulija, a new park that has been build where people can go for a jog near the cliffs enjoying breathtaking views of Malta.

The ending scene after you showed Blue Grotto is called "Il-Munqar" which means beak due to the pointy beak looking rock in the cliff. Il-Munqar is part of Żurrieq since there is The Garden Of Eden and Gibjun nearby. Thank you for showing around my town/hidden gem of Malta! 😊👍🏼

I am Brazilian, currently living in US, I am so excited to move to Malta, I drive 30 minutes to go to work, 45 minutes to church, 40 minutes to my friends house, you can easily spend 1 hour in the car going to places close by. Thank you for showing this place less crowded and so beautiful and full of history, I would love to live in a place like this and drive only 20 min to work in a central area. Keep showing all the little villages! I want to see all of it! ♥️

I was shocked by how clean Malta actually is! Very clean and very safe. Someone commented here for Alex to show the slums of Malta: there are no slums in Malta. The islands are clean, safe and beautiful!

Zurrieq is so beautiful. My mother is originally from Zurrieq and we go to the feast of St.Catherine every year. At least before CO-VID

I have lived all my life in Zurrieq and pass from next to the church every day. It has never occurred to me to stop and notice how picturesque the square actually looks. I get my haircut at that barber, he is amazing - a haircut costs 8 euro :) Thank you for this :)

I love Zurrieq too! You should go to the University make a proper tour there! Like show classrooms, gardens there, the pool etc. etc.! So make a tour of whole campus, show thstationey, photo copy shops and other shops including restaurants next to University, pleeeeease! So a whole vid dedicated to University of Malta 😍 YESYES!

Wow, Alex, I never made it over to Zurrieq, but it looks delightful! Thank you for showing aspects such as the bus stops and numbers to get there. I think Marsascala is a nice place--I recall enjoying the vibe at Zion Bar and Restaurant there, and it's seaside too. I think San Gwann is a nice inland town, too. People might enjoy seeing those two places--I know I'd like to see more of those two places.

Hi Alex nice video once again. However I would like to add some suggestions but if you don't like them just discard and no hard feelings. Fist I think the video would be better structured if you could make it in three parts that is three separate videos. Namely first part would be visiting the old part of the village. Possibly commenting on the streets and houses. The second part would be on the new part of the village and commenting on the new houses and roads. The third part would be places of interest of the area such as playing fields., local councils, churches and shops. Well thanks once again and I look forward to your next video. God bless.

Hi Alex. Very good video. You should go to Ghar Lapsi. It was voted the best beach in Malta in 2021. Its part of Siggiewi.

Hello Alex! Happy to have found your channel, lots of great videos (still have to watch alot of them). I'm moving down to Malta this summer from Sweden. From the most north part of Europe to the most south part I guess :) I will be studying a masters degree program at University of Malta and I will be renting an apartment in Msida. Maybe you already have videos on Msida but if you would explore that area it would be greatly beneficial to me. Me myself apart from IT (that I will study) I'm interested in nature, environment and physical exercise. If you could add any of that subjects into a video that would be cool aswell. Thanks for making such easy to understand videos, but at the same time while being informative and putting a smile on my face! I'm really looking forward to arrive in Malta!

Your video of zurrieq was very enjoyable . Unfortunately I li in rhe concrete jungle of Sliema . But my son decided to get out of Sliema and took up residence in Zurrieq and everytime i ask him if he would consider comeing back to sliema , his reply is No way .

Thanks for sharing my hometown. You missed the highlight which is the Windmill. The Blue Grotto is part of Qrendi although it is only seen as you showed it from Żurrieq.

Hey Alex there is a lake near imtarfa it’s called Chadwick Lakes there it’s beautiful but the sad news is you can’t fully explore with car but there is a road you can go to this lake you have go to this town or village of Imtarfa you go down the hill and when you arrive at this Chadwick Lakes you will see water but if look at the right you see it’s closed for the road but I got A and Bs Alex ether A buy drone to fly and see this beautiful view or B use a GoogleStreet in Order to see more of Chadwick anyways you have go there Alex this one has a lake

For a native English speaker, is there any real difference in the pronunciation of Zurrieq and Zurich (with the possible exception of which syllable is stressed)? Or is the "q" in Zurrieq really silent?
