I have heard about this program that NBC President, Pat Weaver, Sigourney Weaver's father, wanted to do as part of his triumphant, of "Today", "Tonight" and "Home". Arlene Francis was the host of "Home", but I can see why this program failed even though "Today" and "Tonight" still exist today.
A shame so many reels produced later were on unstable film stock that faded, unlike the older Kodachrome reels. I still have some of my original reels from 1950 and up through/into early 60's, the color still impeccably rich and pure: The re-issues of things like PREHISTORIC ANIMALS and 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA are horribly faded red, even though kept in original sleeves, sealed and stored in dark, cool place. Same the one my brother and I helped shoot, BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS , which is pretty bad shape color-wise. )
