My opinion of that kind of cat has been heightened greatly by this video, he seems quite a lot like my cattish, tiny, mongrel, creature of the night. (species- pupperino) She is called Buffy, like the vampire slayer, but not the film, the TV series. That was convoluted and pointless😁 Edit: my comment was
"After an eternity of existence, Thursday felt something he had never felt before; a challenge. "The Hairy Goblin Boy was a threat. "Thursday was no longer the only son."
His arc will be him competing over him and then finally learning to care about his younger brother and they become friends… ish. They will always have a rivalry but it won’t be too extreme.
I will never understand how can people find hairless cats gross, they're adorable little alien babies and I love them also I would absolutely die for THE BINGUS
They're not for everyone. Because they don't have fur for their skin oil to distribute through, they get really oily and can get these yucky wax buildups near their claws. They do have a goblin charm, but just make sure you know what their extra care needs are before getting one!
@@maryssa_with_a_why Honestly, most pet cats are already pretty dirty. Covered in dust, cat litter, and dried saliva. Sphynx just show it more readily.
anyway yes the boy is the cutest sphynx cat I've ever seen. I'm sure you know this by now, but a reason some cats are so afraid of water is because I guess their instincts still tell them wet = cold = death. (there are other reasons but that's the one I remember.) so baths can be pretty traumatising if not done right. I scrolled through the comments and saw plenty of others gave good suggestions for how to deal with that though. other than that he looks like a very happy cat!
My daughter wanted to name our Sphynx, “Whiskers.” Which made as much sense as calling him “Fluffy.” However, after much back and forth with my daughter and wife, he’s now “Whiskers Montreal, the Cat of Monte Cristo.” Or Monty for short. (Or Chicken cutlet, plucked parrot, homunculus, The Full Monty, or The Streak.)
baby shampoos aren’t ideal for sphynx cats because they’re water based and dry out their skin super fast! i would recommend going on etsy and investing in special sphynx shampoo and body oils for after the bath to keep their skin moisturized. we’ve had our sphynx for 3 years, good luck 🥰
@@Katie-mw7pd in the video it was said that adoption is better if u can find a animal you really like but buying from breeders isn’t bad for cats that I know of UNLESS you buy from a horrible one, a lot of breeders are safe and responsible
@@Katie-mw7pd I get where your coming from, once I get my own place I'm definitely adopting a cat from a shelter, but there is a reason for people to look for specific needs. Some people a physically impaired and need a cat with a mellow personality, like a ragdoll, or they need a cat that doesn't shed much due to allergies, like a Sphinx, Cornish/Devon Rex, or Peterbald. It's good to research breeders to make sure they are reasonable.
I have a Black Labrador called "BarkSpawn" (like darkspawn) and almost everyone refuses to call him by his full name so...I get the whole "everyone thinks my pet's name is dumb" thing..
My dog’s name is Kohaku after the dragon from Spirited Away, we call him Haku but a lot of people we meet call the name weird or call him something else.
@@peacefulleopard8016 кот (kot) and кошка (koshka) is the same thing :) the difference between them is just gender - kot (male), koshka (female) but in English it will still be a cat. But koshak as Polina said before “a goofy way to say cat” or jargon I guess ? We usually use кошак (koshak) in conversational style :)
@@LeSyd1984 Are you a cat owner? Because my cats do respond to their names. When Clover is out of the garden I can call "Clover!" and she actually does come running over to give me a cuddle. The other two are less forthcoming to me, but will come if my brother or Dad call. As far as I've seen with many other cats, this behaviour is not at all out of the ordinary.
Little tip for the next time Bingus needs a bath, put a towel down in the bathtub with him. It will hopefully help him feel more comfortable because the towel will make the bathtub less slippery. Good luck! He is very cute :)))
Oh yeah! I've heard that with cats it's not always the water that they hate, so much as not being able to grip anything with their feet in the bathtub or wherever they're getting bathed lol. Makes sense too cause cats are just so particular about being in control of everything LOL. Maybe even a mat of some kind would help. Something he can grip.
that and also literally put on a bathing suit and sit in the water with him he obviously likes to cuddle and seemed to calm down when you squatted in the bath so i think it might be worth a try!
agreed! i’ve been doing this every time i have to give my cats a bath. also, you might have to get in there with the cat, depending on how they feel about water. if you do have to get in, make sure you wear clothes you aren’t afraid to ruin!!
To this day, my favorite story relating to Sphinx cats is that one where a vet clinic adopted one as its mascot, but found that its butthole kept suction cupping to the smooth surfaces throughout it, requiring the assistant to go help him.
My cat is 14 years old and she still will cry when she thinks she’s home alone. Said she woke up from a nap and no one‘s near her she will cry and walk through the house until she find somebody. And if she doesn’t find anybody she’ll sit by the door and wait. It’s very funny when I’m home and I have to call to here that I’m in the kitchen
My cat is 4 now and has a sock that she’s had since she was a kitten. To this day she sometimes just carries it around the house and cries, until someone either calls her or goes over to her, at which point she will drop the sock and stop crying
my cat is exactly the same, you can hear her meow's drop an octave when she believes she is alone. I genuinely struggle to comprehend how cats got the reputation of being unattached to humans and not the neediest animals who's just stuck in the teenage mindset of feigning unaffectedness while being the most insecure.
Sphinx cats are also more prone to URI because they also lack the “silia” hair in their respiratory tract that creatures with hair (like us) have. Making them more prone to URI and harder for them to fight it off. They are truly hairless everywhere.
Yeah it's really not right to breed animals. Not only are there so many shelter animals that could be adopted instead of making new ones, purebred animals can have so many health problems.
@@queegle99 for the most part I agree but when it comes to very unique breeds like the Sphinx you’re not very likely to see them show up in shelters very often, so if the breed is to continue to exist breeders will still have to exist. I think with cats and dogs breeds like Sphinx, Devon Rex and poodle are important for people with allergies who want a pet but want a hypoallergenic pet. Every breed of cat or dog comes with specific health concerns. The thing we should be striving for is responsible breeding, though. Instead of breeding animals for their looks or to make mad cash, breeders should just breed for the love of the animals and also to ensure that the breed improves; breeding animals with good behaviour/temperament, good health and lastly avoiding inbreeding. I do definitely agree with supporting shelters and considering adopting over buying a designer breed. I think people who want a pet should value the companionship the pet will bring to their life rather than worrying too much about the way the animal looks.
@@VeryBlueberrry well said, the first option should always be adopting from a shelter, but under conditions such as allergies, looking for a responsible breeder that loves their animals is viable.
@@NUNYABIDDY1 Cats are god's perfect killing machines, but they weight like 10lbs and we keep picking them up and snuggling them. (Not my original thought, I saw this in a Tumblr post).
I noticed Bingus Bath time was a little chaotic, in the future try putting a towel on the bottom of the bath so that it's not so slippery for him. A lot of cats feel unsafe on slippy ground. Also having a cup handy so that you can rinse him easier and don't have to hand cup water over him. Having a cup also frees up a hand for holding him while bathing. Also sensitive areas like the face and privates can be washed with wipes so that they aren't freaked out by the water in sensitive places. Also treats after bath time can make him feel a little less sad about the whole thing cause it ends with something nice! Hope that helps! He seems very happy and healthy otherwise!
As a former cat haver (my little guy passed of old age last year) I can't help but wonder if the towel would just be pulled in every direction, as the cat would stick its claws into it
For future bingus bath times, i highly recommend laying a towel down in the tub, cats tend to freak out when they can't grip the surface with their nails. My Luna only does bath time well if i get in there with her, so i usually just put on a swimsuit and hop in!
When Teya was saying “my cat is the best cat” one of my kittens peeked down from my bed and I paused it and went “Don’t listen Luna, you guys are the best cats in the world.”
i have a black cat we call Spingus who has that cuddly dog personality, to the extent that she PLAYS FETCH. on her own, unprompted! she’s definitely my favourite cat.
your cat's name rules. my dilute tortoiseshell (Nickel) plays fetch with aluminum foil balls, ever since I rescued her as a kitten. totally on her own! she's a nut. ♥
If you put a towel at the bottom of the bathtub, it might help with the freakout because they have something less slippery to stand on! Though it's different for every goblin, so I'm not gonna promise anything
I own four bingus. My bingus has binguslings (by accident) and we kept half the bingi. They are very good creatures I give one bingus walks and they love it, another slides into your bath. I recommend feeding the bingus raw food, check near you for local stores though because it’s better fresh. Mine has fragile skin and some do so be careful, I use hypoallergenic fancy gucci cat soap for my bingus.
I now have a Sims family that’s literally a cottage core witch who owns a Sphynx cat named Bingus and two kittens named Boy Porridge and Girl Gruel. Thank you for being such an inspiration ☠️😭
Bingus and the twins now have a dog sister named Allison (named after both the PLL baddie and Allison Hargreaves from Umbrella Academy) she’s larger than any of them and annoyingly healthy compared to her cat siblings. She’s an absolute delight and I love her. They live in the cottage core town and have so much fun on long walks with their mom, a professional farmer/gardener.
Strange: I am a mother, i have a son boy now! Thursday: Am i a JOKE to you MOTHER? If that even is your REAL NAME??? Girlgruel: Thursday let it go, its just a cat. Thursday: BETRAYAL!!!!
Honestly the editing in this video is hilarious. “Which one would you be interested in?” “Well, ideally the-the one with the little snoot and the- the- him.” “Oh, the boy. You want *THE BOY*
Usually I don't care a whole lot about promotions, but Harry's blades and handles are all interchangeable with Flamingo(their 'women's' brand) stuff, which is awesome for trans or gnc people.
Trans man from the UK here, can double confirm this. Best shaving kit I’ve ever owned and it’s far more affordable than Gillette. You can get a lot of blades in Superdrug for really cheap. Wonderful company as well.
I’d like to think it pisses someone off when I shave my legs with a gunmetal grey men’s razor so I just use regular man stuff usually lol, I’m most stores it is unfortunately cheaper to buy men’s stuff usually
Some care tips from another lesbian sphynx owner!: Some cats skin don’t like coconut oil for before bath time greasy , I was blessed with a cat that does best with organic vegetable oil as you would season a chicken. Just like a few drops honestly on the spots that get the most d I r t Some sphynx skin also hates baby wash, idk why tbh but vibes ig. A small amount of blue dawn soap is what works best for me , along with the occasional oatmeal bath. Trim their nail tips. Itch itch can turn into ows:( don’t use nail caps as they keep their claws extended and can cause problems Idk if it’s just a sphynx thing but my girl is stupidly picky about treats and boils down to how moist and fatty it is. I can offer her the average chicken piece and she will go for mashed potatos and it makes me cry Most of these are just if something changes:))
@@thehumantumbledryerakamand8303 anything with chemicals shouldn’t be used unless it’s a very small amount, chemicals are extremely unharmful, and in an area they can’t easily lick off, and even for that I won’t use aveeno. instead opting for natural or extremely plain lotions built for sensitive skin anywhere (lack of chemicals) but I only use them if her skin is becoming very dry and I don’t have any moisturizers I normally use on her for those cases:)
I really recommend you heat the towels after baths (you can get a towel warmer or just use the dryer) and immediately wrap Bingus in the warmed towel. It'll help calm your kitty really quickly after the bath if he's freaked out by the bath (usually what makes kitties uncomfy with water is the cooling sensation more than the wet sensation)
My parents' cat Molly had an upper respiratory infection as a kitten. She sneezed a snot that was longer then she was, tail included. All over my parents' bed. It was, as I'm told, very impressive. At that time I had not yet spawned, and I would not until Molly was much older.
just so you know: my sister thought her cat had a respiratory infection for a long time but it turned out he had cat herpes, so maybe something to look into if treatments dont take away symptoms
I'm really glad my local vet is so good. Whenever we needed help with our pets, they actually helped. They're also really caring, this one time, they even sent us a letter offering their condolences after we had a cat pass away on us. The vibe check is real and important, folks; seek you a vet that can pass it, preferably with flying colors like ours did.
for real. when I was a kid my mom fostered cats. once we had to care for a bunch of babies because they had lost their mother, and the neighborhood vet gave us kitten formula for free to help us. another time we had a cat that couldn't move her back legs and he gave us shark cartilage pills to help with her leg issues. I kinda wanted to be a veterinarian when I was a kid because of stuff like that lol
mine's unfortunately on the other side of town, about ±40-60 minutes worth of travel. but the clinic operates as a whole team and even the assistants that didn't have formal ed/training like the doctors actually know what they're doing and how to care for the people as well as they do the pets. like i'll never forget how during an emergency i went to a different vet who's much closer to me home. she dismissed my late cat's condition as him "just ate some bugs, probably cockroach." once i brought him to the regular clinic, the assistant only needed one glance before saying, "kidney failure." and he was right. the hairy boy unfortunately passed away some weeks after that visit and two in-clinic treatment attempts. but that experience taught me well that the hour long travel is worth my cats' well being.
My family has a cat and she is an old lady who refuses to age. I believe that our vet is at least part of the reason why. My stepdad and stepsister had 2 cats, and they didn’t take them to the vet because it was too far away from where they lived at the time and it wasn’t open very often. Their older cat was struggling to jump up onto surfaces when the cat reached our cat’s current age. And our cat will jump up onto my mom’s bed with no issues. She once jumped into my mom’s dresser.
Every cat owner eventually realizes that their cats would rather use a pile of laundry, a cardboard box, or hardwood floor than an actual cat bed you spent money on. Congrats on your beautiful goblin son
Yesss cats are the worst in the best way. Mine also ignore most of their toys and instead play with crumpled balls of paper, ear plugs, and q tips. They prefer trash for everything but they’ll only eat expensive cat food that they get bored of every couple weeks
He is gorgeous! Sphynxes have something about them. I had a deaf kitty, who'd start a Yell of Loneliness whenever I went around the corner, but he stopped immediately if he saw, even as little as a shadow from me. He was great but quite sickly and only lived for 3ish years.
I had a deaf cat who only lived for a few years as well. Was yours white by any chance? Mine was and the vet said that pure white cats with blue eyes are really prone to deafness and being sickly cats in general :( He was such a good boy and beautiful but apparently those genetics are not good.
...why is hebrew word for "darkness" in nightvale is literally the Russian word for cats' (in that particular grammatical form)? Coincidence? I don't think so. Canonically confirned, your new son is called Catspawn in Russian
Funnily enough I speak both Hebrew and Russian. The Hebrew word Khoshekh is pronounced like Хошэх (for non Russian speakers: the Kh sound is like the Ch sound in the word Chanuka). It's pretty funny though because cats are certainly little darkness goblins.
"This is a geography field trip. You know with birds and bugs-" Miss I don't think that's geography but I appreciate a mother who values their son's education so it's okay
My black cat’s name is Sirius, everyone tells me it’s a perfect name and they love it. My tabby cat I got when I was 16 is named Tamagotchi... no one comments on that name.
im bad at names. i usually get to name all of the stray cats and theres one thats a cream colored tabby, and there were twins so i named them "cream custard" and "cream pie". custard ran away really early, but pie stayed. we dont talk about his real name. i was 11. we just call him pie pi.
@@veggiedragon1000 tomodachi is friend but tamagotchi is tamago (egg) + tomodachi (friend). its the name of those little electric pixel pet simulator toys from the 2000s because they areshaped like little eggs. egg friends!
One of my grandma's cats is a hairy bingus. He looks like a bingus, only dressed in a tuxedo and very hairy. He also likes to chew on chopsticks and paintbrushes.
The grave error you have made is calling him bingus. If they don’t learn the name you want them to respond to in the first several months they never will. I for one think bingus is a fine name for an alien child though
We changed my lil cat's name and she can still tell that she's being talked to! Maybe because I use the same tone but she'll still either come or ignore me at the same rate as before
@@_gremlinboy my cat does the same thing. If he’s doing something wrong I call him out, obviously. The little man stops, stares into my soul, and continues. What the hell. And I KNOW he understands me, because when I call him for cuddles he always responds to his name.
I changed my cats name when I adopted him at one and a half and he always comes when I call.... like sprints across the house to me.... so I don't think that's true at all lol
@@eveninglyric687 Should've clarified that I meant adopt when I said "get"! And I'm not actually in a position to get a cat at all rn, Bingus just seems very nice
Welcome to the naked goblin parents club! I recommend putting a towel in the bottom of the bath when you bathe him as it will make him feel more stable and panic less. Please make sure you get his heart scanned at his annual check ups once he reaches a year old as well, this is super important as HCM is really prevalent in this breed sadly :( and a lot of new owners or people thinking about getting a sphynx arent aware of this. If you find he is stepping his poop everywhere a lot look into a higher protein diet as this will make his poop more firm and less likely to get stepped in and spread everywhere :) I also recommend tropiclean ear cleaner and tropiclean or earthbath shampoo for cleaning him, baby shampoo can sometimes throw off the Ph of their skin. Enjoy life with your new baby, he is so cute and looks just like mine did when she was that age
i'm crying he's just a little boy,, also you should put a towel or something like that in the bathtub while you bathe him, he'll probably be calmer if he has something to grab onto
I can definitely believe that he's the best cat, mostly bcuz my cat is a bastard nightmare child (affectionate) who acts like a dog and sprints around the house at 2am and hates everyone except me and one of my roommates (she mostly just tolerates the other) 😆😅
I named a stray cat who always come to my front house everyday i name her "Maf" shortened for "My Alcoholic Friend" because i was listening to that song when i finally approached her
One of my dogs had a whole etymology-stage of her nicknames that stemmed from a rhyme with/joke on "poo nugget", because despite being generally perfectly behaved she snuck off at a campsite and rolled in poop (and is also a smallish black dog with a vaguely nuggety body).
