Another fun fact about Corkscrew. It became Cedar Point's tallest Rollercoaster at a max height of 85ft when it opened in 1976. It broke Blue Streak's record as the tallest Rollercoaster with a max height of 78ft, which was held for 12yrs when it premiered in 1964. As Rollercoaster technology advanced with Arrow Dynamics, The company realized that those Ugly Lattice Arches weren't needed for the inversions. Traditional Tubular Steel Columns to support The Vertical Loops, and The Double Corkscrew elements have the look of defying gravity. They just made the Track Ties thicker, and welded closer together throughout the entire inversions for strength and integrity to handle the weight of The Trains.
@@GhosterCoasters If you think about it, not only that The Corkscrew was the 1st Rollercoaster in The World to invert riders 3x, and the very 1st Rollercoaster in The World to span over an Active Midway, but it kicked off the height record, just for Cedar Point Rollercoasters only. I do believe that it was The Corkscrew at Michigan's Adventure to not use the lattice Arches when it premiered in 1979.
Another well done video! My favorite was and always will be magnum. If I’m being completely honest, I would like to see all four completely retract and re-profiled for modern standards. Although I understand why people would not want that to happen.
Yep... People may see Arrow coasters as old, janky, and rough now.... But I can remember when they were THE company... And their rides were known as state of the art.
@GhosterCoasters I would love to see Arrow make a comeback as a stand-alone company. Although S&S owns what remains of Arrow. When I go to Cedar Point, I mostly ride and enjoy their Arrow Coasters and rides such as Snake River Falls.
