I love this, Nate. I think some of the discussions that circulate in the photography community are very anti-personal creativity. If something is a composite image, I see a lot of, "it's not photography, it's art." But what's the difference? It's scary as a newer photographer to post my stuff, but also it's scary to try new types of photography. That's where I've found I learn the most, though. Dark/bad lighting? Great, let me see what works and learn from that and grow. Thanks for the insight as always!
Could not agree more! Photography IS art, always has been, always will be. It's terrifying to post stuff when you aren't 100% confident in the quality, but it's also immensely important. Proud of you for hurling yourself off the deep end and continuing to create and share regardless of how scary it can be.
Great message and one I really needed at this time. You have given me the push I need to embrace my passion for photography and simply make my art. Thank you!
Really insightful perspective! I definitely find myself questioning the merits of the photos I take, especially compared to some of my photography heroes. Thanks for the reminder that it just takes practice
