@@pibawww Dude, they're kids. Have you ever met a child? Most children want likes because they think it'll make them popular or validated. It's a normal thing kids do, it's like showing your art off to family so you can get praised for it. Most kids do that in some way. And kids don't understand how to be humble until they're taught, which doesn't mean you get the pass to harass and bully them. All that does is make the child more likely to give up on the craft instead of learning to improve. When you attack someone instead of talking with them in a calm discussion, you just end up propitiating this toxic environment where simple mistakes are met with more hostility than they deserve. Kids and beginners will grow out of the behavior with time and learning and they don't need that to be impeded by a fuck ton of randos hounding them because they had a little bit of an ego about their art.

I gave up on having a style a while ago. Not because I don't want one but because I want each different project I work on to have its own distinct feel and aesthetic, and because I like changing my style from piece to piece. Lately I've been absorbing my friends' art styles since we all collaborate on ideas together for our show pilot
I mean the ability to change style is rather helpful in the art industry if you are interested in it join it but even then having different style to different project is also helpful in establishing the feels and identity of the project you are going for
Everyone has a style, even if it isn't consistent. Unless a person can completely change everything down to the basics, it's all just a variation of the same style. (Keep in mind this is a broad statement, I don't know what your work looks like so I can't say. But overall a style is just the way an artist approaches a piece and it doesn't often change as much as some people think.)
Im in the same boat, I mean, I still technically have a style (mostly because I still have a lot to learn about art before I can actually make distinct styles) but I want to have a different feel for each oc group I have, so I can distinguish between them by just looking at the style

I love how you how you have been leaning towards instructional and encouraging material. Like, you want to give people guidance but also give them permission to just do the thing the way they want to do the thing. whenever june posts it gives me a giant boost of motivation to draw its great also personally, style wise, at the moment ive just.. stopped trying to be consistent from character to character. this character has anime eyes, this character has dot eyes - the variations made art alot more fun for me instead of just trying to stick to one concrete style. experimentation is important to grow in art, so it shouldnt be forgotten

Your exploration of art styles in the past ? months? god what is time, has inspired me so heavily. I was stuck in "only realism is good" for so long without even realizing it, and when you started finding the style you currently have it blew my mind. Even though it maybe even shouldnt have?? If you get what I mean? I had seen art styles i guess similar to yours, non-realism and whatnot. Stylized to look interesting and cool instead of always realism-accurate. But when you found your style, it really just clicked in my head. I adore the way you draw, the designs you make, the stylized anatomy that looks so interesting and eye-catching, the colours and urhuhgurghr puts my mouth on your tablet. And you walking us through your process of art is so helpful to me. I have old empty sketchbooks that i only bought to be a "real artist" but I never drew anything in them i liked. Cause i didnt use them for practice, i had the thought of "everything needs to look good in this sketchbook, so i can be proud of it". Which was. so bad. sososo bad. Seeing the way you practice, its almost like..... "yeah, you can practice art. without jumping from finished to finished piece. you can sketch, do style studies, like actually learn...." LIKE IT FEELS LIKE THIS SHOULDNT HAD BEEN A REALIZATION AT ALL. BUT HERE I AM, PLAnning on buying a new sketchbook soon, and trying to use it to improve this time. I wanna do the studies you show, like the way you drew like 30 lil bears and enjoyed it so. Hearing you talk about how much you enjoyed studying art....it kinda made me realize that man, I dont like drawing. I want to like drawing again.

Cant thank you enough for the advice and all the effort you do for us. Ive been in a slump for about 2/3 years now to where i cant get myself to draw unless im told to draw a specific thing. Sketching has honestly lost the fun it used to have in it and ive been stuck since. Now i have motivation to go experiment, which often goes nowhere, but im going to make sure that it wont this time.

I love the way you do concept art! It would be really fun to see a video sometime focused on making fun and engaging concept art. Everytime I try to draw my characters concept art or just see concept art it's usually turn arounds and like some separate art pieces here and there on the page to give an impression of what the characters are like but when binging your videos I notice your concept art feels more like a whole cohesive dynamic art piece. Like it all comes together instead of like just existing next to each other on a page.

Your personality is so adorable and your positivity is so infectious!! Everyone could gain a lot from having an art friend like you. Especially above anything though man the way you study is just mind blowing to me, I feel like it really reshaped my whole perspective like I can't even imagine being like "man I'm having some slight problems drawing this hoodie" and then go do seven pages of dozens of drawings studying every intricacy of how hoodies work just to go back to my first drawing to be like "ah, see there it is." Like man it really puts into perspective why how people become SO skilled. I feel like I am the type to just draw maybe one thing every 2... or maybe lately every... 4-5 weeks annnnd each one I do still do ambitious things to push myself but like that's my one drawing of the month so I just kinda bash my head into the wall with trial and error over and over and hundreds and thousands of erasures and retries until it finally comes together into something I like. I really relate to when you were talking about how all the fun got sucked out of art by trying to appeal to every negative feedback you've ever gotten and follow the "rules" I feel like that's where I've been the last few years college especially really killed any sort of artistic passion I had, I went from drawing every day my entire life for fun to forcing myself to mayyyybe do it once a month if I'm lucky. This has really inspired me though! I can tell how much you love drawing and it shows so much in how much effort and joy you put in! I hope to be the same someday too now ☺ Lets see if I stick to it lol Side note, is there anywhere to like watch you do studies live? I feel like it'd be a really fun way to try drawing all kinds of things that I'd never do on my own. I have that feeling too! I worked so hard to learn art, more so with a learning disability that makes it even harder to learn! But, to put it in words you said, by allowing myself to stop trying to fit the circle into the circle hole, that I just just do what I want how I want and dip right into that square hole! Nothing in art is ever perfect, that be hands, eyes, hair, ect...everything has it's own characteristics that suit only that character and we shouldn't make people feel bad if it "doesn't fit the norm"! We should embrace it for it's uniqueness! Art is a beautiful thing that even the artist themselves are unique and so should the art be :)
I’ve been watching your videos for years and Id like to say that you have definitely helped me grow my own style. I used to want a very realistic style, but as you did your prism designs over the years, I’ve noticed that I liked a more stylized way of drawing. You really inspired me to follow through with it and watching this video has definitely made me want to push my own stylization farther!
Honestly, you openly talking about allowing yourself to make mistakes and just do what looks good has kinda helped me out in my art journey. I’m letting go of my more perfectionist side and it’s genuinely just making art fun again. I’m even using a sketchbook and drawing traditionally for the first time since high school! And it’s fun! Honestly, thanks for helping me get out of this rut, you’re a massive inspiration for me, especially with your newer style, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

I just wanna say you talking about how sometimes you just leave things unfinished, making poses that make no sense because it looks cool, and just overall doing ur own thing and just chillin has made me see the joy in art again. Not everything has to be perfect, sometimes it looks better when it isn’t “prefect”. Just leaving rough drafts/ joy sketches looking a little wonky proportions wise because you know you now how to fix them is such a good way of letting yourself quote on quote breath in your art. It feels nice to sit down, do a sketch and tell myself that it doesn’t have to look good. Thank you!❤ you made me realize again that art is supposed to be fun

Yknow it's funny, I've been following June since their realistic art style days. And back the I wanted a semi realistic hyper detailed style like them. As I grew older I started to appreciated art with more shape language, things like their current style and abdillustrates. I enjoy art that's more expressive instead of accurate now, and I want to enjoy art, even if I have to put off studying anatomy for it sometimes.
I love how all your videos really sound like youre speaking from the heart. everything you say is spoken with such genuine feeling and raw truthful emotion that i just cant help but really listen and absorb what you say.

this video is absolutely amazing. your art process here, anything but physically speaking is gorgeous. (bcs all u need is eyes to see that ur art is BOMBING). i love the focus on being happy with ur art and doing what makes YOU feel good. i love the bits of "i just didnt feel like drawing her hand and i was happy with the drawing so i posted it" and how you have the privileges to make those decisions because you work for yourself. i love how you really put a highlight on the parts one should focus on when making art!
when it comes to my own art I make sure it's happy however I strongly believe that art shows how you are feeling through emotions. If you're happy the art comes out showing it, if you're pissed and not in the a good mood the art will come out looking shitty. Back in January I was dealing with a burnout from everything that just piled on to my shoulders before I had to walk away, go to my room just to have a moment to myself. I took my anger out through words and stabbing my dairy with the pen that I used, first time that ever happened. Before I went back to the kitchen to try and finish doing the dishes but my aunt was already finishing them up for me. My mom pulled me into a hug and just told me to go lay down in my bed. I did and that's what I did for a bit until an idea popped into my head to draw my main oc Fantasy Heart screaming and crying. I tried to push the idea away and lock it behind a door, I wasn't in the mind site to draw let alone one of my favorite ocs that I own having an emotional break down. I did end up getting out of bed, booting up my computer, opening Krita, turning on some music and going at the sketch of my pony oc. I worked on that drawing for 8 days despite feeling better after what happened. the finished drawing turned out in a way that the level that only happens when I'm really bored or really into the drawing. It went from "Why the fucking hell do I not fucking hate it?! It was meant to turn out shitty!" to an idea that made it funny, I signed the finished piece with an art tool that made it look like it was signed in crayon. The finished piece was of Fantasy Heart screaming and crying in the hallway of her mansion, her pitbull Killer looking in from another hallway looking worried while a box of forgotten crayons lead abandoned nearby with Fantasy Heart drawn on the wall in a pink crayon. I did share with the finished piece with friends within the MLP Discord that I'm apart of. I've even shown the finished piece to family and they're surprised how well it turned out. Am I proud of the drawing? Yes and no, that piece was meant to turn out shitty cause of the reason behind why I drew it, no because it shows another side of me that my friends don't see.

I like coming back to this video every now and then whenever I need some inspiration to start drawing. Sometimes doing studies feels scary, but this video helps remind me that they can be very fun, which they are! Also, this video helps me feel the catharsis from the sick final speedpaint in the Eevee video, but that feeling is there from beginning to end.
