Breaking down Ultraman Heisei Big 3 would be great, specifically the use of cg, the very memorable human v human choreograph and specific sfx technics used within the 3 series like Gaia's iconic explosive landing.
Awesome artwork, love the Biollante vs Legion one! I'd love to see a a breakdown of the character design and effects of Iris, such a cool original Kaiju. Looking forward to the next video, love gmk!
I'd really like you to look at modern Ultraman and Kamen Rider. Specifically, Ultraman Z and Kamen Rider Zero One, it'd very much love to see your take on these compared to the Showa or Heisei iterations.
I dont remember the exact episodes, but Mashin Sentai Kiramager had some very impressive fight scenes, including one where they fight in a warehouse and pretty much the entire fight is a sequence shot of the rangers and the monsters going from the bottom floor to the roof of the 3 or 4 story building the fight takes place, and another where some of the rangers are fighting in the mecha vs a giant monster and the rest of the team is fighting on the ground, and we see the 2 fights at the same time in very seamless transitions between the two

There's also a really cool scene i believe in episode 16 of Kamen Rider Build, where Sento (the titular Kamen Rider Build) goes berserk because of a new form he cant control and accidentally kills someone, which he is very against doing, and you can feel his discomfort in what he has done and his desperation and fear for having lost control. I can probably name a few more, but I just wanna ask you to please look into some newer series when making the video, there's a lot of cool stuff in them
The Kiramager episode with ground fight and giant fight happened at the same time was directed by Kiyotaka Taguchi who mostly known as the director of several Ultraman shows like Orb and Z. The other episodes are great too, Kiramager was great in general.
For me personally. I feel like an art of Tokusatsu focused on the commentary of some classic films and shows would be interesting. Showing how the supernatural and unique visuals are used to talk about ideas related to the real world. From stuff like Ishoro Honda's nuclear commentary with Godzilla and Rodan to the government censorship on Jamila in Ultraman all down to Ishinomori's classic topics on conflict and the moral grey in Gorenger/Kamen Rider. I just find that fascinating.
The Kamen Rider ZO one-take battle sequence against Doras, where they quite literally hoisted the camera POV onto some scaffolding so it could catch the action from above.
Unpopular opinion = W was a boring Hella boring to watch and the aesthetics were bad as well and Akiko is extremely annoying , If so, I think Kabuto is vastly superior compared to W ! At least Kabuto had direction and it didn't need a ton of movies trying to find an ending that sucked less than W , Faiz was a garbage show at the 2nd half and Toshiki Inoue is the worst writer since Faiz. That’s not a hot take lots of people should hate Inoue he ruined Hibiki. FUCK INOUE , Heisei Ultraman >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Heisei Kamen rider. It sucks that it's canon that OOO's 10th was really awful because we now have 2 dead Riders (Tsukasa and Eiji).
I just got up but the teaser at the end got a loud "hell yeah" from me lol the baragon fight is so frickin good and never really gets acknowledged outside of GMK reviews

Goseiger was Solid and Decent show along with Kyoryuger. The most frustrating experience I've had with Goseiger was watching it and not understanding the hate , not being able to go along with people's opinions. I'll agree the characters are mostly likeable and the drama is actually really Interesting it's sad the actors were Retired , Koichi Sakamoto is my favourite Writer in Toku and I hands down hated Toshiki Inoue.
Obligatory Garo plug, specifically the two scenes I think best show off the artistry are the first major clash between Garo and Zero, and the final confrontation with Brago. I am not suggesting Messiah as I don't want to get you demonetized or yeeted off the platform.
If you could, I would love a video about more really well done Tokusatsu, that stands by itself as art and can be enjoyed not only by fans, like you mentioned in the Eva video, stuff similar to Shin Godzilla or Gamera.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on Godzilla singular point, ever since it released on Netflix I hardly hear anyone talking about it. And when I do, I hear most that it's bad or just ok,hence I'd love to see your take
Perhaps an analysis of the special effects in the original Godzilla movie would be a worthwhile topic? Eiji Tsubaraya's techniques only improved since then. However, more than just being tonally darker, I seriously think the 1954 movie was better choreographed and more enjoyable even as a popcorn flick than anything involving Godzilla since then. I've seen too many people dismiss it as being only thematically important while cherry picking the worst shots involving puppetry to argue the effects in general are outdated while ignoring everything else great about the visuals during the city destruction sequences. I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way.
Mighty Peking Man has some unironically great miniature effects by Sadamasa Arikawa and Koichi Kawakita. The only shame is that the editing makes it tough to really take in anything for more than 2 seconds at a time. The Hong Kong set feels alive and every building is packed with detail, from the griime on the buildings, to thee clothes hangers on the balconies.
I would love to see you talking about the special effects in Super Sentai as well. There are many scenes in the Super Sentai franchise that amazes me to this day and I would love for you to tackle and discuss about that franchise especially since you will be discussing about Kamen Rider and Ultraman too.
I can't pinpoint a scene specifically since it has been many years since I last watched it, but I'd love it if you did a breakdown of something from Kamen Rider Black Alternatively, for something a bit more specific, I would personally enjoy something about old Sentai and metal heroes shows where the giant robot's hands shrink whenever it's going to hold something; it's something I have noticed ever since I was a small kid watching Juspion and Changeman and it has equal parts dispelled and increased the toku magic for me even that far back Another cool talk could be how in older acrobacy-heavy shows like Lionmaru, Jiraya and older Kamen Rider they'd reverse the footage of someone jumping from somewhere or into water to emulate a super high jump (although I think you mentioned this one when talking about the original Kamen Rider)
Perhaps a little piece on Ultraman Powered and Ultraman Great, two distinct early attempts of introducing Ultraman to Western markets. They obviously didn't due to well, but I think there are good and bad lessons to be learned from both those shows. Now that Tsubaraya might be taking another stab at the Western market I wonder how the differently the West might treat Ultraman and by extension Ultraman. There are some pretty big name folks in the West who really love Toku so I hope in the near future said individuals can be given the opportunity to give Toku their own personal touch.
I particularly like when human directly interacts with the monsters in some way, like in a lot of Ultraman episodes. I remember two kids landed on top of a kaiju and proceeded to poke the hell out of it using ruler and umbrella. This was in Ultraman Taro
Always looking forward to your videos, your channel was a great entry way for getting into tokusatsu that it lead me to watching Return of Ultraman and the original 1971 Kamen Rider series, two shows that have become very impactful for me in this time in my life and can’t thank you for that 😊 Can you please show what some of your favorite/best scenes from both those two shows in depth as you can? I’d love to hear more about it!
