During the 2020 Lockdown, I decided to remix Walt Disney’s 'Oliver and Company' (1988); a film from my childhood in the style of Pogo (Nick Bertke). I never thought that three years later the original video would get nearly 3k views!
To celebrate a 'three year anniversary' of it's release, I reconstructed and reimagined the remix with newly polished samples of vocals, dialogue and the soundtrack from the film that I really think broke grounds in the late 80s for animation.
This film had an entire section of the production dedicated to primitive, but impressive early CGI animation which I think blends in really well with the sketchy style. Though not a brilliant film, I still love the soundtrack, orchestral score, characters, atmosphere and especially how they portrayed New York City. (Even if it is a product of its time!)
Composed with samples from the original soundtrack from vinyl, dialogue and vocals from the film and extra layers of virtual vintage synthesisers and drum machines from the 80s!
