Fantastic video; great to see you back! I'm really impressed by watching the Astrocade draw in Scribbling! I mean, it honestly looks better then most old-school screensavers that did the same thing!
That's great that you got an Astrocade! And The Incredible Wizard is excellent. The Defender-style game is Cosmic Raiders. Hey, looks like there is one on Ebay right now as I type this (August 17, 2013 for anyone who might read this comment in the future.) :)
Thanks for the comment! And the Astrocade drawing is actually pretty fun to watch, and being able to adjust the colors while its doing it is more fun than it might seem.
Thanks for still watching! It is truly appreciated. And the Astrocade is quite fantastic indeed. I don't know if its an essential console to collect, but I feel lucky to have one because there's some really awesome things about it.
Woo. Nice and Games! More videos from. Good is. Love your little skits. Gunfight looks like the most fun of these. I can see that being remade into something cool for a mobile platform or something. Only problem with that drawing program is I imagine there's no way to save what you do. I guess you could record it to video.
lol The anticipation makes it better? I dunno, but I should try to upload more often. Making videos is pretty enjoyable, and if for some reason people enjoy watching them, all the better!
Great to see another video from you, love your work. It's interesting to see stuff about this console, I've never heard of it till N&G. Anyways, Your vids are awesome *thumbs up*
Just aquired a Bally Astrocade a few months ago. The wife and I played Gunfight and had a ball for such a basic game. My favorite has to be The Incredible wizard aka Wizard Of Wor. Thx for the video and as always, I enjoy your take on things. There was one game you did a review on, a defender like clone. I can't find this one on ebay etc.. Must be a rare one. Shame looks awesome but forget the name. Cheers.. :)
I wish the Astrocade was sold over there, too! It is one of those unfortunate systems that was actually quite good for its time, but never had the chance due to marketing or what have you.
lol I hadn't thought of that! Yeah, it's like the Astrocade is trying to play Eruption. :) I might be wrong, but I think the 256 color palette was the largest of its time? Certainly one of the largest. I think the NTSC 2600 "only" had 128. Of course, the Astrocade can't use them all at once in a game, but still it's cool.
Skit? What skit? That was real life, man! REAL LIFE! I like fake anger. Gunfight is hard to play single player, but would be fun against a fellow human. Good point about the drawing program. I wonder if there was ever a Bally Basic art program that allowed saving. Hmmm...
Thanks for your support, but you never know, I could be posting huge piles of crap. I've done it before. Not literal crap, but the video equivalent thereof.
Sorry to fan the flames of Astrocade desire. :) If I find an Astrocade dealer the first thing I'll ask is how he/she is still in business, and then I will buy all their Astrocades and send you one.
Scribbling seems to be way advanced for the time - brush size? Watching your videos, this system just seemed to be way ahead of the pack in terms of tech/programming!
You might've played Gun Fight on the C64, it got released for it, as well as Atari systems. I don't think I've seen any screenshots or video of the Commodore version.
lol That is true. I wonder how many Astrocades have food in them, it would be easy to shove a sandwich into the cartridge slot if you were so inclined. I don't recommend it though.
