For those Catholics and Christians who ask, why cant we just say God used evolution? Well ask yourself, why would you want to back a pagan idea? Evolution started out as a pagan belief as Early as Sumeria, we discovered in the Enuma Elish inscriptions. In these inscriptions we read; "The primeval sea (abzu) existed before anything else and within that, the heaven (an) and the earth (ki) were formed." Fragments of Anaximander (610-546 BC) taught that ‘humans originally resembled another type of animal, namely fish’. Exactly what people today have been told where life arose, in the ocean where fish became man over deep time. There was Democritus (460-370BC) who taught that primitive people began to speak with ‘confused’ and ‘unintelligible’ sounds but ‘gradually they articulated words.’ (today We know that human language cannot form on its own by any natural process). My work in linguistics has proven this. The Bhagavad Gita of Hinduism (400 BC - 200 AD)! teaches it took billions of years before life supporting planets like mother earth evolved in cosmic systems and other plants as well. Apollonius, an Egyptian pagan priest in the 2nd century AD, said the cosmos to be 153,075 years old as reported by Theophilus of Antioch. Then James Hutton wrote about the concept of natural selection in the 1760s. By the 1600s The Bible was everywhere. But yes, there were atheists back then as well who are the same as today and hate God's word. They knew that the evolution model would be the only thing that could discredit creation. They knew that if they could make evolution true then creation had to be false, there is no other alternative. So Charles Lyell set out to prove that deep time evolution was true for that reason alone. Lyell, (who in December 1819 earned a B.A. and moved to London to study law), decided to pretend that he was a real scientist one day. He started writing books on the subject of geology with the sole intent to discredit the Bible. His ideas on geology influenced Charles Darwin to think in terms of millions of years, paving the way for his theory of evolution. The concept was called uniformitarianism (initially set forth by James Hutton). Lyell’s lies laid the foundations for evolutionary biology, as well as Earth’s early development. So the next time you think Lyell disproved Noah’s flood because of the evidence and his vast knowledge of geology, remember... he was just a lawyer who hated the Bible. Nothing more. Lyell wrote, in a letter to fellow old-earth geologist Roderick Murchison: "I trust I shall make my sketch of the progress of geology popular. Old Rev. John Fleming is frightened and thinks the age will not stand my anti-Mosaical conclusions and at least that the subject will for a time become unpopular and awkward for the clergy, but I am not afraid. I shall out with the whole but in as conciliatory a manner as possible." By the following year, we see that Charles Lyell has a clear agenda, i.e. to “free the science from Moses”. That is what Lyell wrote on 14th June 1830 in a letter to George Poulett Scrope: "I am sure you may get into Q.R. [Quarterly Review] what will FREE THE SCIENCE FROM MOSES, for if treated seriously, the [church] party are quite prepared for it. For those who ask this you must trust the Bible at all when it says God Created Adam and Eve. You must also think Jesus was lying as well since he said "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' Matthew 19:4 or how about in the commandments themselves it says that God created man on the 6th day. So you believe that was a lie as well and God created something to evolve into man? You have had to resort to saying Genesis is allegorical because you cannot refute evolutionism. I tell you, there is no need to compromise anymore. You can go buy Replacing Darwin made easy by Dr Jeanson today and see that.

Funny thing is that there are plenty of evidences in the stories pointing out that Sherlock Holmes is a God believer. In "The Adventure of the Gloria Scott" Holmes relates an incident from his University days that led him to the profession of detective. At one point in his reminiscences, he talks about "going to chapel." This would indicate that, at least when he was still a student, he was a church-goer. The use of the the word "chapel" rather than "church" or "services" suggests he is most likely not Anglican. "Chapel" was often used by non-conformist British protestants, but also by British Catholics, and Conan Doyle was, himself, raised Catholic (though he later became a spiritualist). Holmes's possible Catholicism is also supported by the fact that, on his mother's side, he was partly French, and France is a predominantly Catholic country. In "The Naval Treaty" Holmes says, “There is nothing in which deduction is so necessary as in religion. It can be built up as an exact science by the reasoner. Our highest assurance of the goodness of Providence seems to me to rest in the flowers. All other things, our powers our desires, our food, are all really necessary for our existence in the first instance. But this rose is an extra. Its smell and its color are an embellishment of life, not a condition of it. It is only goodness which gives extras, and so I say again that we have much to hope from the flowers.” These are not the words of an atheist or even an agnostic. At the end of "The Adventure of the Cardboard Box," Holmes, trying to make sense of a particularly tragic case, says, “What is the meaning of it, Watson? What object is served by this circle of misery and violence and fear? It must tend to some end, or else our universe is ruled by chance, which is unthinkable. But what end? There is the great standing perennial problem to which human reason is as far from an answer as ever.” His despair might speak of disbelief, but his assertion that the universe being ruled by chance is "unthinkable," indicates that his belief is still steadfast, though sorely tested. An atheist would have no problem believing that the universe is ruled by chance. Indeed, it's almost a fundamental belief for an atheist. But it's a belief that Holmes rejects. His words to the murderer in "The Boscombe Valley Mystery," a man slowly dying and beyond the reach of human justice, "You yourself are aware that you will have to answer for your deed at a higher court than the Assizes," indicates a belief in the Hereafter, a Hereafter where our fate is dependent on the kind of life we have led. Since Catholics believe in justification by faith and virtuous acts, while protestants believe in justification only by Faith, Holmes's warning that the murderer will have to answer for his sin in the next life, is more evidence of a Catholic orientation. When a terribly disfigured woman, the titular character in "The Adventure of the Veiled Lodger," contemplates suicide on the basis that her life has no use, Holmes tries to persuade her otherwise. “How can you tell?” he responds. “The example of patient suffering is in itself the most precious of all lessons to an impatient world.” This indicates a belief in the redemptive value of suffering, a particularly Catholic belief, another clue that Holmes is not only a believer, but was at least raised Catholic, like his creator. In "The Crooked Man" Holmes realizes that, when a wife suspected of killing her husband addressed him as "David" when his name was James, it was meant as a reproach; specifically as a reference to the story of David and Bathsheba in the Old Testament. Knowledge of Scripture does not automatically make one a Believer, but it is more evidence on that side of the scale. He accepted at least two cases on behalf of the Catholic Church. In The Hound of the Baskervilles, mention is made of his investigation into "the little matter of the Vatican Cameos," and in "The Adventure of Black Peter" reference is made to his looking into "the sudden death of Cardinal Tosca -- an inquiry which was carried out by him at the express desire of His Holiness the Pope . . . ." Of course, a paying client is a paying client, but we never hear of Holmes taking cases at the express desire of the Archbishop of Canterbury. More inferential evidence of his being, at least, a "cradle Catholic." Also in The Hound of the Baskervilles, when Holmes finds his client injured by the villain's murder attempt, but still alive, he is said to have "breathed a prayer of gratitude." This indicates, not only that he believes in God, but that he further believes that God sometimes takes a hand in human affairs. In other words, since he ascribes his client's survival to God's intervention, it follows that he can't be a Deist. Because Holmes was a practical man, a rational man, and a man of science, asserting that he must have been an atheist, or at least an agnostic, is not uncommon. But his own words in the stories, his familiarity with Scripture, and his fundamental belief in such concepts as grace through suffering, and an afterlife, do not support this conclusion. It is clear, at the very least, that Holmes was a believer in God, and that the Christian Bible was at least a starting point for his understanding of the nature of God. God bless you, Matt. The genetic entropy argument is by far one of the dumbest arguments I've heard. The continuous increase of entropy is a property of an isolated system, open systems can have their entropy decreased by inputting work and genes are not isolated systems as evidenced by the existence of endogenous retroviruses (which are great evidence for evolution). Using this argument only shows a lack of understanding of both thermodynamics and genetics

are there any sources for the claims? the monkey on a raft for example. the big bang theory is such a komplex topic. you cant just say "they belive it came from a point smaller then a particle!" thats like saying "these crazy idiots belive in cars! they think they move on explosions!" in general all these claims here were just presented very propagandistic. its allways "they belive" but in reality creationists belive. i strongly advise anyone who is not completely hateful for non belivers, to sit together with one and talk about the topic. of course some are more and some less knowledgeable. but thats the same with theists. and keep an open mind. dont just try to disprove no matter what. many people pretend they like open minded conversations but what they really want is to be right no matter what. they defend thier point to absolute ridiculusness. on both sides. Atheist definition: a person who does not believe in the existence of a god or any gods. Religion definition: the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods. a particular system of faith and worship. a pursuit or interest followed with great devotion. None of that is science. Your ridiculous view on a young earth is damaging towards people and children. Insults being hurled at one another from both sides, each calling the others beliefs "illogical" "nonscientific," "impossible," or "improbable," doesn't effectively conclude anything. It's always gonna boil down to faith and personal conviction. As a Christian, I'm reminded that the fundamentals of my faith are based on a great deal of revealed text that is VERY illogical by today's or even yesterday's standards, and yet I believe it to be true. (ex: the eternal son of God incarnates in the womb of a pregnant virgin, lives among mortals, dies and rises from the dead, God speaks the world into existence ex nihilo, etc) In fact, to believe in the Bible you HAVE TO believe in miracles, because not everything in scripture can be explained rationally or scientifically, though fortunately, much of it indeed CAN be. I'm not sure how fruitful these debates actually are, yet everybody was designed to fight for something. Fighting for intelligent design is certainly better than denying it all together. So in that I rejoice.

Literally their entire argument is just “It’s possible.” Their entire worldview hinges on “Yea I know it’s EXTREMELY unlikely that monkeys surfed across the Atlantic, or that life spontaneously emerged, or fill in the blank; but it’s not impossible.” In other words, they openly acknowledge that their stance that God doesn’t exist “is extremely unlikely, but not impossible.” So they KNOW that God’s existence is EXTREMELY probable, but they reject him anyways. That rejection is clearly not evidence-based. It’s hatred-based. Great documentary Matt! It was awesome! Keep up the great work!

I got saved a few years ago and I keep on falling, but out of personal experience, once you are saved it is impossible to just loose faith in Jesus, absolutely impossible, you can try all you want.

I like this film, my second time watching. But I have a small concern. Some theists hold to the big bang theory. I get that it goes against the order of creation, I'm not commenting on that. But you and other creationists suggest that BBT proponents hold to "something came from nothing". But some don't. Take Will Lane Craig & his version of kalam. The conclusion is that the universe had a cause (God). He says that and he believes in the big bang. In other words, one can believe in the BBT and God. Could you share a thought on this? If the creation order disputes the BBT then that's fine, I've no concern. But you do seem to suggest that even beyond creation order, from the word GO, the BBT proponents hold that something came from nothing. That's just not accurate. Some do but some don't. No sooner than Matt Powell made his first appearance in this “documentary” did he tell his first lie. What is it about that guy anyway, that he feels he must lie to make his point? He quoted Charles Darwin who more specifically said, “Often a cold shudder has run through me, and I have asked myself whether I have devoted myself to a fantasy.” Just after that he said, “Do you really think it’s logical and rational to take a sticker with that man’s name and put it on the back of your car and be proud to represent a man who thought he was living in fantasy land?” He’s completely misrepresenting the truth there. Charles Darwin’s quote alludes to a characteristic in Darwin that Matt Powell does not possess. That characteristic is the ability to question oneself. To challenge even the very ideas you’ve dedicated your life to developing and understanding. Powell apparently sees this ability, this strength, as some sort of weakness or indication of wrong ideas. It’s just the opposite. Questioning - questioning everything - even the ideas that seem most true, is precisely what science does and the method it uses to arrive at the truth. If Matt Powell had the ability to honestly question his own ideas then he’d soon no longer be a young Earth creationist.

I'm not a religious person but every time I find this kind of videos against those nihilistic, narcissistic, arrogant sociopaths who call themselves "new atheists", and who worship "science" (whatever that is) I grab my popcorns, I lie back and I enjoy the spectacle. I love to see those bullies put in their place. I miss other voices in the debate, though. This question is not only Christians vs Darwinian Atheists. You can believe that there is a God, or many, or an intelligence who created the world and not believe in the Bible. Many people don't realize how many options there are. They get trapped in a false dichotomy. I don't believe in darwinism but I don't believe in Christianity either. I miss more options to enrich the debate. Native Americans, ancient Chinese, ancient Japanese, ancient Indians, etc., they didn't (and many of their descendants still don't) believe in Christianity and they were not atheists. They didn't believe in evolution either.
