Such an amazing sermon, haven’t been able to sleep tonight then, listened, and feel like worshipping our wonderful Jesus. Thank you, Pastor Alistair, from the bottom of my heart. Keep on teaching us Biblical literacy, as we are all so deficient!
I cannot say enough in support, I could not utter an amen of sufficient force, to convey how much I agree with this Word of Life. The identity and mission, the person and the work, of Jesus Christ is the essential condition for understanding what came before him, comes through him, and what he continues to do as our high priest in the sanctuary above, the one and only Mediator between our Holy God and our sinful selves. All flesh is as grass but this Word of God endures forever. May God continue to richly bless your ministry of his Word.
He just quoted “The Love of God” at 42:25. We just sang this in choir yesterday. So wonderful to here. And thank you for being on fire Christ, you’re love is contagious
If there was only ONE sermon to have for the rest of my earthly life, this is it!!! Everything we need to know to grasp our existence and our purpose and our path to an eternal life in heaven giving glory to our savior and our God. Praise God for this ministry.
*Alistair looks like a youthful young man.* I wonder what year this sermon was actually made in his church originally. 🤔 Edit: I just found out that it's 1998 when this was first preached. Which means Alistair was 56 years old. If my math is correct for him being 71 today. *I praise God for this man who preached truth then, and continues to preach truth today!*
@tracesofheaven-giftbandit3094 no worries. I thoroughly enjoy this preaching and have recommended Alistair Begg to many who are looking for something meaningful to which to listen. God's truth is timeless, and in Alistair Begg, He has one who preaches in obedience. Amen!
Alistair Begg my brother, I say this with loving correction brother and know that we are all prone to making mistakes as Christians: you said that "death had no mastery over Christ" but the Bible says in Romans 6:9 [9] knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him." Death was no longer master over Him because it was master over him. And it was master over him because He willingly had the sins of the world transferred to Himself and as we are subject to death because of sin (though He never sinned the Bible says "He(The Father) made Him who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." He took the penalty that our sin requires which is death. Once Christ received our sins He was subject to death. But once sin was paid for with the sinless Christ's death, what remained was a sinless/righteous man in the tomb who death had no authority to keep in the tomb and dead. "The wages of sin is death" and since Jesus never sinned the wages of His never sinning/righteousness if you will should have been life(eternal life). The debt He paid was ours not his own. Once paid and after 3 days The Father raised Jesus from dead because the sin debt was paid off with His blood and now the righteous Jesus should be raised from the dead and the righteous Father did what was right and gave life back to His righteous son.
Was Christ wanting us to be saved with no works by grace alone when he said dead rotten trees are only good to burn and faith without works is dead and many will come that day saying Lord in your name I did great works only to hear DEPART IDKU WHO PRACTICE INIQUITY? YOU CAN'T LOVE GOD AND MAMMON-WEALTH EITHER YOU WILL LOVE ONE AND HATE THE OTHER OR LOVE NEITHER..SOLA SCRIPTURA? UNLESS YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS EXCEEDS THAT OF PHARISEES YOU HAVE NO PART OF KINGDOM PROSTITUTES AND TAX COLLECTORS WILL ENTER BEFORE YOU..GRACE ALONE BY FAITH ALONE COULD GET UGLY WITH NO WORKS AS PURGATORIAL 🔥 FIRE COMES IN 1 COR 3:15 STUDY TO SHOW YOURSELF APPROVED..
KJ21 "But those mine enemies, who would not that I should reign over them, bring them hither and slay them before me.’” Jesus Luke 19:27 Mathew 10:34 “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn “‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law- 36 a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’[c] 37 “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it." My comment: According to Jesus, either submit to him and his demands or face eternal damnation and unspeakable torture forever in Hell. Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
