I have been lucky enough to attend some of the biggest and greatest concert in my lifetime. My father took me to see this concert when I was 13 until this day. I still rank it as the best concert I’ve ever been in in my life. And I have seen some of the world’s greatest performers performed live at some of the greatest concert events. When I was four months old, my mother took me to see the Rolling Stones swaddled me up in one of those little hippie wraps as she danced away to the stones. Not to be outdone by this four months later, my father took me to go and see Pink Floyd. I’m not sure how he had me wrapped up but yeah, I’ve been to some greatest concerts within my own lifetime. I think if I was old enough I would’ve been at Woodstock lol.

When they performed this song at "Rock N Rio" the audience not only sang to Freddie but they also gave a great call out to Brian for his solo piece. Brian continues to do this song in concerts and they bring Freddie in for the last verse on a huge screen which always brings the audience to another level. It also occasionally brings Brian to tears,

I was on the highway when the news came over the radio. (back then the DJ stations were really good). It was like..."What did he just say ?" Yes, we knew he was really sick, and slowly leaving us....still when he did pass away.....a jolt. Through the music...he lives on, and he would be happy with that. Younger people have discovered Queen, and they enjoy it like we did. ( an do ).

This is such a special song for them and for Queen fans, Freddie wrote it for Mary the love of his life and even to this day Brian May performs it with Freddie on the screen, and you’re right, this whole concert is about 2 hours long, it was kind of a breather, I’d say especially for Roger (drums) who needed to rest physically and vocally too, at some point Brian does a long guitar solo so Freddie can rest as well. If you’re doing more from Wembley 1986 I’d suggest a classic which is Under Pressure, you saw Freddie do a bit of a vocal warm up with the crowd in Live Aid and here he does it much longer, it’s their collaboration with David Bowie who isn’t there so Roger sings it with Freddie, it’s truly amazing, and for another slow song there’s Who Wants To Live Forever which is just one of their saddest most beautiful songs. To me this whole performance is much better than Live Aid but a lot of people don’t know it. Hope to see more Queen in the future because I truly love your reactions to them!!

Before you are done with the band you will want to hear so much more, especially off their first four albums, mostly before they hit it big. Great amazing songs there!! I would suggest your next reaction should be to "White Queen" at the Odeon Hammersmith, 1975 I believe, for an earlier look at the group!

His shirt is totally Betty Boop - great catch! I'd encourage you to listen to the album recording - very different and performed on piano with a bit of harp, and amazing backing vocals all by Freddie. Gorgeous original version of this song. Brian really hasn't gotten any credit from anything that I've read for arranging this song to be performed accompanied by acoustic guitar - it's almost like a different song from the album version and equally good, but in a different way.

Another thing that’s amazing is the audience knows all the words to this and it wasn’t even any kind of big hit for Queen. I think they only released a live single of it in the 70’s. I think this concert is in wembley,, this is also great but the version in Rock in Rio 85 is mre amazing. The audience seranade Freddie. They almost sing the entire song to Freddie which makes him "emotional". Hope you can also do reaction on that concert. Thank you .

Sam, I think Betty Boop was on the back of his shirt and some sort of Mickey character was on the front so you were not wrong. ;-)
