"History is written by the victors" is the best way I can describe the lore of this game. Cyborgs lost war 100 years ago, they are now being reeducated in the mines of their own capital which is Cyberstan, if bots reach Cyberstan and capture it, they can free cyborgs to join the war against our Super Earth
To add on to the heap, the Cyborgs were granted citizenship to Super Earth and then stripped of rights one by one. This would eventually lead to a Socialist Cyborg Extremist detonating a bomb in itself in a densely populated city. This was the Cyborgs declaration of war and in retaliation to them being no longer allowed to vote. The Cyborg leaders claimed no voting actually occurs and all the ideals of Super Earth are a fabrication to keep the masses brainwashed. All of this is of course a a manufactured lie in the hopes people would join the Cyborg cause willingly to be brainwashed via their first cybernetic implants. Super Earth has an imperative moral duty to eliminate the Automatons as they did with the Cyborgs.

This begs the question: if our brave helldivers fail to liberate cyberstan for whatever reason, would we see less cyber activity in the rest of the galaxy?

Do not believe Super Earth's lies about the Automatons. They only want to remove the Imperial boot of our corrupt leaders from oppressing those who built them. Granting them sovereignty is the only way to peace, yet we are sending countless millions of our sons and daughters to fight in a war which is solely meant to cement power!
As a Swede playing this game, I love the names of the planets. Some have clear connections to swedish and I don't know if Cyberstan is supposed to be pronounced in swedish but I will forever say it in swedish. It means "Cyber-city" which could fit the bill if the planet is cyber-inspired in some way.
@@elishafollet5347 It's a satire of many things though, like the USSR for their Gulags, China for their reeducation camps, US for their Democracy, Slavery in general(of the bugs hence bug farms).
@@elishafollet5347 makes sense! Another example is New Kiruna which is a place in Sweden. Can't remember right now what other planets might be pronounced in swedish though. I'll look it up next time I'm playing

I'll be honest, if the devs use the automatons taking over Cyberstan to bring in like 8 player raids and/or boss battles, I'm just gonna let them take it. No it's not because I'm a bot sympathizer and an undemocratic traitor. It's because I want to fight BEEG badass robot bosses with 2 or more squads of helldivers at the same time.
Ok, but real talk. If the Automotons do actually take back Cyberstan, do we think that the Cyborgs will see a return to the game? Also, is there any hard evidence on the return of the Illuminate?
It is possible the Cyborgs are waiting under Super Earth's nose until the Automatons arrive. There has been lights that look like Illuminate but actual sighting have not happened yet.
Exactly if I was in the ministry of truth I would be saying something along the lines of "the dreaded automaton threat has been created by our enemies from 100 years ago there is no sympathising with them they are soulless creations of the bygone communist cyborg menace of cyberstan we must not let these two evils combine we must continue to crush them for the glory of super earth"

And the thing here is, the Ministry of Truth actually _isn't wrong_ here. If all Automatons ever wanted to "liberate" Cyberstan, then how come they've penetrated Super Earth's territory two sectors beyond, clearly aiming towards Super Earth?
I wonder if we fail to keep them from Cyberstan the devs will stop the Automaton attacks and only go on defensives so later a bigger threat can take their place in the galactic stage.
Are you suggesting that Super Earth is, in fact, a totalitarian state that brainwashes its citizens into going to war with our galactic neighbours that we likely could have been at peace with? That is an interesting hypothesis. Please face the wall now.
what scares me is the helldiver that fight not for what he's told, but because he knows the truth and doesn't care, he just thrives for more fights and adrenaline
As “dumb fun” as this game is, I am SO interested in how all this conspiracy shit will play in to the game in the long run. Like maybe we’ll start fighting illumanid and then something weird happens and now we’re on the same side as the automatons and maybe later we’re fighting AGAINST Super Earth like the possibilities are endless i love this game
The bots have a marching cadence and you can hear them say cyberstan aswell as the fact the bots haave the samr insigna the borgs have its why the havr the strongest hold on stems farther from super earth but closer to cyberstan
It would be hilarious instead of a 3 way fight with the Illuminates returning, it'd be a 4 way fight with Cyborgs and Automatons as both a separate but unified super faction. We'd also get to see the return of the Helldivers 1 Cyborg enemies like those GOD DAMN DOGS.
Pretty cool except that in the game the Automatons literally chant Cyberstan and the Super Earth government already acknowledges the automatons connection to Cyberstan
Thing is even if they trying to liberate the cyborgs they will eventually head to earth just with reinforcements, so no matter which way they heading we need to stop them and hand them a nice cup of liberTEA
My theory: the automatons ARE cyborgs. I think they’re forcibly putting people’s brains into each automaton or at least the larger and more intelligent ones like the the hulks. Why else would all their heads look like human skulls? I understand the tech that created them could originate from super earth, but if that’s the case and the robots hate us why use our image? To scare us? Or is it because they have no other reference for a humanoid body plan?
