As a kid, I was a Steelers' fan, and Terry Bradshaw was my idol. And they had an epic rivalry with the Raiders. Since then I've respected and grew fond of the Raiders' aura. Those horrifying costumes the fans wear to their games, God love them.

I usually have a deep-seated hatred with Steelers fans because most of them just bring up the number of rings they have (when the conversation has nothing to do with that), but I meet cool ones like yourself from time to time.
Pirate_of_Oakland I think Georges is what you'd call a real fan. I used to hate the Steelers because they always beat my Cowboys. But, if you're a real fan, you can't help but extol the greatness that is/was the Steel Curtain and that team from the 70's. Still, IMO, the greatest of all time. No respect to Lombardi and his Pack, but I think that Steelers team was the best ever. They had to get past the great Dolphins and Cowboys teams of that decade to be named Team of the Decade and to me, that says it all.

I only heard this for the first time last week while listening to Mad Dog Unleashed on SiriusXM. I'm not a big NFL fan but holy cow this is one of the most epic team songs I've ever heard.
I wish the NFL could find someone with the passion the Sabols had for portraying American Football the way that they did, if they had not already. It wasn't just capturing hard hits and cool plays. They elevated the game to the levels of an art form. I mean, a POEM about the OAKLAND RAIDERS. Of all the NFL teams, they are at the bottom of the list for being remotely "high brow". And to top it off they write for the Raiders a symphonic theme. What brings it home is it feels appropriate. The poem invokes imagery of a travel warn individual. A man roughed up by the nomadic lifestyle, such as a pirate is said to have lived. A man who you'd probably want to keep your distance from. The music floats gently but has a strong and assertive presence, much like the weather changes going into Winter, making the piece live up to its name. Today's NFL really could use this kind of love and passion to portray it.

I've been a Steeler fan since I was a kid (1970), but I respected the HELL out of the Raiders. The 70' s rivalry between those 2 teams was far more intense than any other in the NFL, before or since. They were fighting for league supremacy back then, & I am grateful that I was there to witness it in person !!

As someone who comes from the EAST BAY I can tell you for a fact that every raider I have ever had the pleasure to talk too has always said that "they" always considered us fans as "teammates!" So as I was thanking them for their contribution...it was them that stopped me and said NO thank you for being there for us! I grew up with the Raiders because they were my favorite team in the AFC West division and I'm still a huge fan of the silver and black A.K.A. Raiders and I never forgotten how amazing they really are but they are 6-3 this season and they were in 3 different cities they are Oakland, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas
