So apparently they initially wanted Maria Hill to be an antagonist and they thankfully changed their minds so the scene got deleted.

Haha I would pissed though if I had a solo screen time in a major movie and spend time nailing it then they just say nope sorry hahaha but yes I'm glad they did what they did and not this

I'd see this as the contemporary sci-fi war movie cut, rather than superheroes dealing with aliens. I would have been less likely to see and enjoy this version. It's dark. If you want to see dark and hopeless go see 12 Monkeys again. I'm glad they didn't go there.
