After over 12 years of production, and over 11,000 units sold, Lamborghini's still-stunning Aventador is finally ending production this year. The LP-780-4 Ultimae is the end of the road. Colloquially known in cars and coffee circles as the "SVJ Touring," the Ultimae gets the best bits from the SVJ, the entire powertrain, and combines that with a more street-oriented suspension and chassis setup. While the SVJ is the ultimate track Lambo for sure, the Ultimae is even more powerful, while at the same time offering a better ride for urban roads and canyon driving, with more flexibility. But at $568,000 as tested, is the Aventador still relevant, even on its way out? Matt and Zack driver really really fast to find out.

Absolutely stunning machine…. My favorite part is that I don’t care about the performance numbers. This thing could run 11s and have 200 less hp and it’s still going to stop traffic with its looks and captivate anyone within earshot of it with that symphony. Thanks for sharing!!!

I just looked up the weight of the fluids. Between the fuel, oil, and coolant it is 128 liters for the regular aventador (not counting diff/tranny/brake fluids). That would be 281 pounds of fluid. That would make the car weigh at least 3,700 pounds.

@@the.colon.garage5007 I would say these guys got it right when they stated its a SVJ GT. Its more refined and if driven tame its truly like a everyday car in some sense. Hit that gas and it changes it personality completely and it screams SVJ. Depends on what significant means to you but I would say so. The steering is something that really popped to me. The steering is so light now when driving normal and its so precise. Congrats on your incoming!

I could absolutely see the Ultimae holding onto it's value much better than the 720S's and 812's. Possibly even appreciating in value as it will be the last naturally aspirated, non-hybrid assisted Lamborghini V-12 ever, the last hurrah of a dying breed.

The McLaren will be bettered in every measurable aspect as time goes on. However, the non-quantifiable elements like sound won't get better. So the V12 cars will hold value because it remains special forever.

Great Review! Very familiar with all Aventadors too, including SVJ. The S could not outrun a Performante. The SVJ was a fender ahead of the Performante at 1/4 mi and it could not outrun the 812 GTS in any straight line comparison or around the track. The GTS also has great engine sound. However, in terms of curb appeal and crowd popularity, it still rules!!

I'd take this over the SVJ. This showcases the Aventador's wild design in its purest form. The SVJ's crazy add-ons detract from the underlying design IMO.

Ngl, I quite like the battleship gray. Aesthetically, it reminds me a lot of the F22 & F35--all of the sharp angles and aggressive intakes. It's also a testament to the car's styling. Lamborghini have their work cut out for them in replacing the Aventador.

Thanks for posting. I almost Countached myself when you kept talking over that V12 symphony. 🤣 Its a very cool car, even in LA, all except the primer flat gray paint they chose. Very few cars are as amazing sounding, or ever will be. I don't know that I'll ever be in the market for a $600K+ car, but if I was, this would be right up there with a GT2 RS.

i still remember when around 2012 i read TG article on this NEW car. Now I have to accept, with a lot of pain, the meaning of Ultimae in latin - the last one. It's been a pleasure living in the time of the aventador. This car gave me plenty on inspiration.

The amazing thing is that the Aventador , in SVJ trim in particular but also in other trims, is still faster than almost all other supercars around track. Check the Nurnburgring times 👍 Say what you want about the good old lambo, but the handling is still up for it.

What about other tracks?? Also official Nürburgring times are done by prototypes or preproduction cars specifically configured for the purpose and something one can't buy straight from the showroom, these laptimes are just marketing strategies and should always be taken with a pinch of salt.

"Lower the car risk of dazzle" Sounds like your headlights are turned on and that you will dazzle oncoming traffic (or maybe the daylight running lights are like lasers). You were being flashed by an oncoming car earlier in the video so maybe that's it?

I think the Aventador is more relevant now than it was when it came out. 10 years ago, a loud V12 NA motor was still the norm for performance cars where hybrids and turbocharging was still relatively uncommon. That's not the case anymore, except for the Aventador.

I saw a white SV drive past me in the mall parking lot a few days ago and it was the 4th Aventador I have ever seen outside of a meet or autoshow. I live in place where supercars are common enough that you'll see a bunch of them on snow tires in the winter every year, so to me it is bizarre that a car which has been in production since 2011 is such a rare occurrence in everyday life.

I think it needed the 2 vents on the front like the SVJ for looks. Front bumper/splitter isnt quite as cool as SVJ as well but I like the idea of SVJ touring. "Base" aventadors are still amazing looking sleek cars and have the active aero thin wing.

Risk of Dazzle refers to headlights shining in the eyes of oncoming drivers. BMW headlights in Europe are equipped with "anti-dazzle" on their adaptive headlights.

When I was in Hanoi there was an Aventador screaming round the central lake repeatedly. On those roads, with that traffic, guy must have been completely insane. I new it was an Aventador, before seeing it, very unique sound. In my opinion in that it’s clearly a V12 and thin, and meak, sounds like air being sucked up by a power full hoover, doesn’t have the legendary haunting howl that I’ve heard from some Murcielagos.

The Aventador should have 285/30r20 on 10's instead of 255/30r20 on 9's or the same setup as the Chiron. The SVJ weighs 3900lbs so +60lbs for the Ultimae or 3960lbs.

Am I the only one kind of glad in a way that this is the end of the Aventador? I was never really wowed by the design of it. Only variant (if you can call it that) that I ever really stopped and stared at was the Veneno. I do _love_ the color of this one, though.

Finally you guys revealed that the 812 is heavier. And that’s something most people don’t realize. Huracans and Aventadors have carbon tubs as standard. Ferraris have aluminum space frame and are heavier. No one complains about the 812s weight! Common!

the trick to the clutch is to lift slightly when shifting. but besides this having 10 more hp and low number being made im not a fan looks like a regular aventador with a svj rear and no wing. the only way to track this over 5'8 it with bucket seats its alot lower without the power seats

What a car! Should you buy one? If you've got the cash, as said, it's a no brainer, because it's a last of breed, and for a mid-engined V12, it's actually a relative bargain. But, if you're chooing to have only one special Italian V12 in your life, the Ferrari 812 is objectively a better car, but not necessarily subjectively so. For me, I think I'd choose an 812 GTS; if for no better reason than the gearbox. Although, I don't think that's the only reason to choose an 812. However, the fact that this is mid-engined, and has the looks and the drama, it's hard not to want one. If you've got the cash available for an Aventador Ultimae and an 812 GTS, I think that's really the no-brainer. These are still relatively sensible ownership propositions compared to the V12 hypercars, not only from a purchasing standpoint, but also from a maintenance and running costs standpoint. All that said; if I had plenty of cash, I think Gordon Murray's GMA T.33 would be the ultimate V12 for my tastes.
