And not only did they cover Dr. Dolittle's face on the cover; which they likely did because it undoubtedly isn't Eddie Murphy in that photo, and likely isn't even someone of African descent; but they also replaced him with a white man in that game too. A white man who barely even looks human, and isn't even wearing a single thing anyone would even remotely associate with healthcare or veterinary work. Now, we can give them the benefit of the doubt by assuming they were intending on him to be inspired by the Rex Harrison version depicted in 1967. But that little benefit goes straight out the window given they use the font, clothing, and poster styling of the Eddie Murphy version of Dr. Dolittle for the cover. So at BEST, they are openly/actively dishonest and immoral with their marketing; and at worst, there is credence to those allegations. Either way, not a great outlook for a gaming company.

Or maybe they couldn't afford the rights to use Eddie Murphy's likeness? 😂

Half Life 2, Bully and Oblivion came out in '06. Even if we limit it to just the PS2, there were still Black, Kingdom Hearts 2 and FFXII. That's what Bervely Hills Cop competed against in store shelves. And no price difference would have done anything to help it.

@@XJag9684 well, they must’ve had some level of licensing to use the name Beverly Hills Cop or else they would’ve been sued for using it. I’m not a expert in anything when it comes to the Ins and outs of name licensing overall but I’m sure there’s probably something to explain it

They likely bought the title licensing from Paramount but didn't want to pay Eddie Murphy a separate wad of cash to use his likeness as he is a Unionized actor worth a shit load of money
