I was born in sao Miguel loved ur video 61 years ago living in Canada ptresent left at 10 the smell of the salt water and the green beauty will always b in my proud Portuguese blood
Excellent video. Love Sao Miguel. The Azores are one of my favourite destinations in the world. The natural beauty is unmatched in any other part of the world IMO. Plan to retire there!
Unreal content! Everything I told my buddy Stelios you may know; things you could've improved on from the last video - AND YOU NAILED. This channel is going places.
Great video about São Miguel. But i have some things to add. Ponta Delgada comparing with big european cities, truly doesnt have much to do, and shouldnt be the reason why people want to visit the Azores or even more. But there is things that arent in the video, like cultural events in Ponta Delgada, from concerts, to pleys and Museums. Not to mention, before covid, there was plenty of cultural/religious events all year round. The Hotel, was a project that was ahead of its time, in the time the Azores (the poorest region of Europe at the time) had no good infrastructure, the Azorean goverment was a recent creation and the Azores were plenty unknown, usually people who knew the Azores from abroad were Azoreans or Azorean descendents or a curious american or German who found the Azores on the map, that was mostly it. The Azores lived on its industries. Tourism is quite a recent thing thanks to the opening of the Airspace in 2015. Not to mention, the owner of the Hotel, wanted to make São Miguel a cacino center in the Atlantic, he wanted to have a great Casino in there and bring tourists for that, but he never got the gamble licence (by irony now there is a Casino in the Azores). Combining that, with lack of infrastructure, no tourists and its failed plans, the Hotel closed doors. He was ahead of his time, i think if he opened that project today, he would have sucess. Other fun fact, the Russian Tsar usually consumed Azorean pineapple. Other fun fact, the american who founded the Terra Nostra park, was the first consul in USA history in european soil, building up the unique relationship between the Azores and USA. And there is so much hidden gems in the island, that most people dont know. But you actually went to Nordeste, a place which most people escapes. Still, great video. As a Azorean its amazing seeing that so many people visited us, which is the opposite of our history. Loved the video and the format. And how you explained everything in context, you actually did your homework, most likely the best video of São Miguel out there. And yes, the weather can be a pain in the ass, but one of the many reasons why São Miguel is so green. Cheers
Thank you very much for a great feedback! Im glad you enjoyed the video. Ans thank you for very interesting facts, I have learned something new! Cheers!
Really cool video and awesome footage! The part about the Monte Palace hotel ruins is not really true though, it's not heavily guarded (at least for over a decade now) and at every occasion I was there since 2021 it was a very well visited tourist spot. There were at least 20 other people with me in the building or on the roof, even mothers with little children 😊
5:52 this hotel would definetly work now, with the internet and youtube and instagram and tiktok, all europe will go to "hawaii of europe". i just discovered these islands this year. hope i will visit soon
I am going to fulfill a life long dream, and visit The Azores, Sao Miguel, in July of 2024. I will spend a month there, traveling between the Islands...I LOVE this video! Thank you for sharing your travels! I am so excited...
Beautiful video! I'm flying to Soa Miguel next week. Could you list the names of each of the locations in your discription wit time signatures. Your presentation is such a great guide!
We again truly enjoyed your video's again nothing like the amazing beauty that surrounds us . At every corner their is a new view & new place to explore. We plan to visit 4/2/2022 Ponta Delgada, Portugal . Thank you we have learned much & you are a great host.
Yes, I agree. This is one of the best overviews of Sao Miguel that I have seen too. It looks like pretty much you had the place to yourself. How lucky!
I have to thank you for the most amazing and revealing videos of a part of my beautiful country, Portugal , that I had never seen. There are no words to describe some of the beauty you experienced in the Azores but rest assured your message has been engraved in my soul... my wife is a natural of São Miguel Island, and I am from the main land near Costa de Caparica, across from Lisbon , we will surely be visiting the Pearl of the Atlantic...a pérola do Atlantico...thanks 🥰
Impeccable images. Keep up the good work. I take this opportunity to invite you to follow "Azores, What Else", both here on RU-vid, as on Instagram and other social networks. Best regards.
I guess the impressive museums in Ponta Delgada, shops, beaches and botanical gardens like other things were forgotten bcz, there's nothing to do in that big city, not a good thought... still great images.
Hi Bruno. Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately my time was limited and i tried to show the essential parts of the island, something unique for a visitor. But you are right there are shops and museums in PD.
Welp...guess I'm adding the Azores to a growing list of places to see lol. What a great video?! Very informative, and, extremely well shot. Regardless of your subscriber count (you deserve way more), I hope you continue to make more content from your travels. I really enjoyed this and will be watching the rest of your work in the coming days/weeks. All the best to you and thanks for sharing your experiences.
Hi, thank you. The intro part includes clips from different islands of the Azores. Specifically to your question, the waterfall is located on the island of Flores (it's in the video on my channel, part 3 of Azores series). It can be seen from Miradouro Craveiro Lopes.
Nice video, but, I cannot understand your negative comment about beaches. Are white sand beaches better than black? NO. Black helps you get tanned much quicker, only negative: it sticks more to your skin, but, after the beach, you take a bath whatever the sand color, right? And cannot swim? Your statement ends 5 seconds later, with images of a horrible unexistent beach fully of people in danger. What a silly statement, you should really review it.
I should add that, a great POSITIVE about our beaches in the Azores, compared to most popular beaches, we don't have to negotiate a place to occupy on the beach, there's always a spot for you.
