One of the best concerts I ever went to was the B52's in Melbourne. Private Idaho should be on your list to check out too Jay. It absolutely rocks.😁👍🎶📀❤️
Great song. This was a huge song in the late 80s early 90s and they had this pumpin' in the girls residence at university in the cafeteria during supper
School dances were so much fun when "Rock Lobster" (and TBF - "Time Warp") came on and everyone ended on the floor when "down, down, down" came on. We didn't even care - we lay on the floor in our mini skirts flopping around like idiots!
The band is from Athens, GA, home to the University of Georgia where they were students when the band was formed. Also from this little college town: R.E.M., Widespread Panic, Drive-by Truckers, of Montreal, Neutral Milk Hotel, Azure Ray, Pylon, the Glands, Vigilantes of Love, Vic Chesnutt, Reptar, Apples in Stereo, Olivia Tremor Control, Dead Confederate, John Barry, Ravenstone, Danger Mouse, Love Tractor, and so many more. Just an amazing little town that The NY Times said is the birthplace of indie music.
“Private Idaho”, “Dance This Mess Around”, Strobe Light”, “Planet Claire”, “Give Me Back My Man” (that one is mainly Cindy), “Legal Tender”, “Song For A Future Generation”, “Whammy Kiss”. Also, Fred does some solo stuff: “Monster” is a pretty amusing video. 💜💜💜
Love a true B 52s fan. I feel like I should warn him but no one warned me. I love them so much and it's so great to know people a generation younger than me are discovering them.
@@tracysnow349 I saw them back when Wild Planet came out… in the gym at the University of Delaware (my friend went there). They were a total trip. On my way home, my in dash 8 track player ate Wild Planet. Still a favorite of mine. Oh, and I should’ve mentioned “Quiche Lorraine”, too. I also saw them when “Funplex” came out. Obviously, I love them. 🤣 Seeing young people enjoying them for the first time is so cool. 💜💜💜
Roam is a great song. Honestly, they have so many great songs with catchy beats. I feel like you would enjoy Channel Z. For some of the older, quirky B-52s Legal Tender, Private Idaho, Give Me Back My Man, Dance This Mess Around. They have a ton of hits and their videos are usually a ton of fun too.
This reaction reminds me why you are still the best reactor! If you are still loving these cats, check out "Deadbeat Club" and "Give Me Back My Man" next.
One of my all time fav songs from when I was a kid was b52’s collabed with iggy pop, for the song “candy”. It might just be with the one female singer Kate Pierson.
The B-52s had so many great songs. I saw them play this one live at the San Diego Sports Arena in 1989 or 1990. Kate and Cindy, even Fred, sounded really good. I remember the night.
Jeeze I forgot about this song brought back some memories ☺️ Always loved"love shack" used to sing it in the pub with a few drinks down me of course 🤣 Keep up the good work JayveeTV.
Absolutely infectious. Never fails to put a smile on my face and brighten my day. Regardless of their little quirks, the quality of the music is solid. Both Kate and Cyndi have awesome voices.
B52s my favorite band. They started the “new wave” sound, that’s how they’re so big then all other bands came right after them. Most all their hit songs are used in so many movies and shows from the 80s and 90s
I think I told you I met Freddie in 1983 as a teller in a bank in 1983 .. he was so cool.. it said on my deposit slip ...hey Bel be bad love Freddie S the third..
Kate and Cindy have absolutely amazing voices and they sound incredible together. There has never been another sound like Kate and Cindy harmonizing together. If you ever get a chance to see the B-52's live, you should go. They put on a great show. This song was ALL OVER the radio. And Keith Strickland is a really creative guitarist. Really melodic, but with some weird tunings and unexpected choices. He is one of the best.
Whenever I'm listening to the B-52s I'm reminded a lot of The Cure - it's just missing all the depth and sadness - it's just the cute and happy parts, but still eerily similar in sound. I love 'em both, depending on the mood.
The B52S are one of my favourite bands but I've never seen this video. It's pure gold! It's one of their best songs. I love when they did the namaste greeting with the Buddha statue in the background. This song is fabulous! The beat, the handclaps, the message-everything about it.
Such a fun band. I've seen them numerous times though the years. Their live shows are big dance parties. Fun times! "Deadbeat Club" is another excellent song.
I actually preffer this over "Love shack", wich was on heavy rotation in the late 80's-early 90's on MTV. Produced by Nile Rogers I believe. Such a legend.
You need to listen to Dance This Mess Around, Planet Clair, Private Idaho and Lava. Great songs by the B52s. Also listen to the song Candy by Iggy Pop with Kate Pearson in it.
Oh the harmonizing!!!! They were SO good live for this CD. Great band! Check out one of their older songs "Legal Tender". Crazy video! You'll really like it!
