The phrase “B3313 Speedrun” almost seems paradoxical. It’s a game filled with such mysticism and genuine unsettling horror of an endless maze- yet give it a few months for some gamer dudes to optimize and map it out. Human ingenuity for better or worse, is a thing to behold.
It’s fun to have a field guide of areas, and document things like you are genuinely interconnected with the in-universe world. Ever enemy and anomaly has a place in your little book of secrets, and that’s what makes B3313 so magical. So sad that it ended the way it did. Maybe if Chris and the gang stop acting like spiteful children we’ll get a 2.0 someday. Highly unlikely though…
31:00 The water in the fish tank is actually cold water, just like in Vanilla SM64 that appears in Snowman's Land, that's why it drains you health so quickly
I heard Peach's Secret Corridor is also a nod to the horror romhack, "Please come to the castle". The way Peach's Ghost suddenly ascends upwards beyond the double doors at the end of the hall echoes a similar moment in that romhack. The part with the static covered walls, the eyes, and Luigi getting trapped in the cage is also probably another nod to it. Also, great vid!

Same here, b3313 feels like endless fun haha yet it's endlessly mysterious. Icebergs are the perfect way to explore this game's anomalies and world much more in-depth!
What do i play it on? Ive been wanting to play it so bad but i don't what emulator im supposed to play it on best, that and i dont have controllers so is be palying with keyboard
istg the more i know about B3313 the more endless it seems, there are so many little well hidden things or tiny details that make you genuinely wonder why would someone willingly just put it there, like the corrupted sanctuary lacking a door or that weird bedroom with a random Bowser portrait, and then there's the unsettling, creepy stuff like those messed up paintings of Bowser grinning, the shadowed Luigi or even Peach's paintings sometimes feeling so out of place it makes you wonder if maybe she knows more about the castle than one would initially think, or the entire plotline of the brothers flooding towns or the implication of maybe multiple versions of them having died before within the castle. this romhack is just another kind of horror, as you said it may not have many jumpscares, but its existencial horror is enough to make it an absolutely unnerving experience
The most reasonable explanation for the water in the fishtank hurting the player is likely because it's registered as a snow level. The water in snowman's land comes to mind as it acts the same as the water in the fishtank.
I think that level represents mario and luigi's goals, being saving the princess and escaping the castle plexus, but not sure if they're ever supposed to get either (the princess is only seen as a ghost and there's no real way to leave the castle)
i don't know how often you play B3313, but the area is named Bowser's Domain, and the giant bed you find is pretty much Browser's bed. It's his domain because most of the paths and doors that lead away to more important areas of the plexus shows that Bowser has done some bad deeds to the other places.
As a B33 veteran who played since v0.4 to 1.0.2 this game in my eyes is the true “Every Copy of Sm64 is personalized” because it’s 100% with its levels, horror events, and various inspiration sources that make this hack an experience to play.
I can imagine the video for Layer 4 (if that layer exists) having a story akin to something like the AI thinks this guy knows too much and is out to get him now
Wanna know a fun fact? I’m pretty sure Dead Village is the only death you can’t avoid for 100% unless you reset the game (avoiding it is cringe tho). Every other death can be avoided Unless it was changed in version 1.0.2. Idk, I might have to do a full replay to make sure I’m correct lmao
At the top of dead village there's still one last house standing you can enter to lose a life (probably can't gameover from it tho, kind like th vanilla lobby warp from plexal) and be sent back to plexal lobby, surviving the crash from the shadowy figure, though it can certainly be tricky to avoid it while having to platform your way up
Thanks for making these videos! I love B3313 and have probably watched every video about it known to man by this point. Even though the whole point of it is that it's supposed to be eerie and uncanny, B3313 is just such a comfort game to me. Getting to listen to someone talking about different aspects of the game in depth is very fun and relaxing. I was looking forward to watching this all day. Great narration and editing for such an unknown channel, this definitely deserves more attention
B3313 is a really strange game. It's one of the best horror games I've played while also being one of the most chill games to just explore and get lost in. It's 2 styles of game that really shouldn't work well together at all. But b33 manages to make it work

Two small corrections. Floating hotel is not a marionova/Breaking the barrier reference, but it does resemble the basement maze from marionova's videos. And Castle Depths was added in 1.0.1, so one update earlier.
The first part of this me finally gave me motivation to play B3313 And now... Im 20 hours in with almost 200 stars But I loved every second of it It's a perfect to just sit down for a few hours turn your brain of and explore the seemingly endless hallways
I'm convinced that I'm the only Wet Dry World fan out there. I never associated it with negative aura whatsoever, if anything, I found it to be cozy, it a bit damp.

21:43 "i'd be quiet here, make sure nothing hears you through the cracks of these walls" honestly I hate this area so much i always try to be very quiet and when i feel like it's time to go out I just frantically try and run out in the fastest way possible, i just hate this area so much especially after seeing that one painting with the eyeless goombas, it's horrifying
With the hallway loops, I wonder If you still get the Toad jumpscare even if you're quiet while going through the loops. I don't think I've seen anything try it, yet. They're always running.
Might be an odd thought, but I like to think Stanley made the B3313 Mario and Luigi just to torture. They can't exist outside of the plexus because they are part of it.
Love to see another entry on the iceberg,excited to see what else is up for the next layer,speaking of which,anyone else thing the AI just has a favorite plumber between Mario and Luigi?,count how many Mario and Luigi bodies and anomalies are in the game,including the shadow figure being a "luigi",and see if ya can figure out who the AI likes more,tho it almost feels like your supposed to canonically play through this as Mario for most of the game

Love the video, but one critique for the next video is that the video's a bit on the quiet side, I think the voice channel could be modified to be louder
On this note, does anyone have any similar rom hack recommendations? I'm a HUGE fan of the beta recreations and original levels, but im not too keen on horror, and that seems to be a lot of what personalized hacks tend to go for ^^'
This video is great, but you really need to increase gain on your mic. It is incredibly hard to hear you in some places. I'm typing this at 31:30, in the fish tank section.
