You always capture the best stills, they give them so much character and put the story together so well. I love watching when you tell their story and I believe more people should watch you rather than all the other drama the others have out there . Thank you for the real story 🎉
The music mix in this video was spot on, enchanting and such a shame to lose 'Betsy' I was teary for days! Thank-you for this well captured story of the beautiful lil soul Xx
Thank you for keeping me in the loop sometimes I can watch but I can't do anything else.. God bless all the animals and God bless and protect this planet amen
Betsy will be very missed ,she had the most soulful eyes. It's horrible we won't see her grow up and have her own little one. But was not meant to be, climb high ,run fast, and play hard, little one
Such a sweet Mom and Baby Duo and family members. Hope all the Moms, Grandmothers, Sisters & Aunts had a lovely Mother’s Day. Thank you for the video Arroz. Heading over to the other channel. ❤
So sorry Bessy - Betsy was adorable and will be missed. You always pay such wonderful homage to every monkey lost AM but, Holy Mylanta they prove rough to get through. 💔
Bessy always seemed attentive to Benny. It always seemed as though Bossy shunned Bessy a tad after Benny was born but I could have read situations wrong. All Bossy’s kids are very close and caring for one another but I do honestly believe Bry, Dy and Bolly have suffered tremendously because of their early sterilizations. They are all big girls and I don’t think Bessy had a chance against the power of Dy - AM caught Bessy trying to ‘diplomatically ask’ Dy for Betsy back a couple times but how many more times did she attempt to get Bessy back that AM was not there to see or catch on video. We just don’t know what happened for sure. For all we know, it may have happened in a struggle between the Mom and sister, that resulted in Betsy failing or Bessy could be another uninterested Mother like Gypsy but I hope not as she has just started into her reproductive years and if she is a Gypsy, that will mean so many more sweet babies crying and struggling for their Mama.
@Pam Preston I don't think it's right to judge these animals. We only catch snippets of their lives. As good as AM is, he can't record everything. We don't know what happened. Don't judge them based on human emotions. Bad things happen with no explanation. Could Bessie have been more attentive? Possibly. Maybe she put too much trust in her sister, and only realized too late. Or, maybe she knew that once Dy had a hold on Betsy, she would not get her back and she had no support from Bossy; that in a fight with Dy, she would lose. The tragedy is a mom lost her baby.
@am I really enjoy these “story” style series. Your educational explanations and evidentiary based rational makes these fun. I like all your content, but these are such well written and narrated. Keep up the good work sir.
“Story” that was Betsy-was right. She wanted to eat out of turn, all the time and Mom got punished for not correcting her baby. It didn’t bother the baby that Mom was punished (of course, the baby was so tiny). Poor Mom and Poor Baby. Eventually, it’s REALLY Poor Baby because she went missing and assumed MIA or rather, KIA.
This is sad and heart wrenching as well Betsy is so adorable baby, her loss is indeed excruciating, Happy mother’s day to all wonderful moms of Monkey Hill .
Dy did it to prove that she could. I have a theory that Dy did it to intimidate her younger sister. You intimidate, you control, regardless of your place in yhe family.
Oh man...there are a couple Ltms that I used to watch, years ago, right when the vos started getting out of control and harming monks young and old and straight out taking some of the infants. Anyway, if you have watched them, it was when sweet pea was a baby....oh did he cry when he was taken. Still felt bad for him tho..just wanted him mum. But a couple would torment and some still do torment those babies and hurt them to prove they could...duchess was one, Tara was another ...so sad if that's what happened....
@Feelin' Froggy Mr AM is one of those people who don't harm the troops. If he saw anyone harm the monkeys, he would report it to any authority that he could. Now things have happened to some of the monkeys that no one could explain, but say in the case of a baby being run over, the other people would tell each other. There are several other people who are trustworthy in recording, Monkey Inc. and JW. The registered feeders puts the word out if they see something going on as well. It is heartbreaking what is happening in Cambodia with the monkeys. Those vos are vicious. Nothing would surprise me about those people.
If a human in that country took the baby away from its mother deliberately and there was nothing wrong with that baby or the mother too well, the only reason was to kill the innocent baby and eat it’s meat and I’m sure there is nothing much on that baby’s bones either. Sorry for the truth but it’s what happens over there still and surrounding countries too. God bless it’s mom and family too. She ( the mom) will hurt cause they do have feelings and will wonder where their little one has gone. It hurts me to know this little one was taken from his mom to die in the hands of a human. May the Lord be with this family and those who knew this little one and watched him with his family too. Sue (Florida, USA)🙏❤️❤️🫶🏻🌈😥😥🐒❌⭕️
@retamckeehan4935 I remember her birth and being told by AM her name also. Sheesh, we almost sound as though we are reminiscing about our children's birth or a grandchild's, lol - to sit back and say we remember when a monkey was born, what 5 - 6 yrs ago, just shows how special all the videoing AM has done to have us so completely captivated year after year. There are so many remarkable, wonderful memories (that thankfully we can go back and visit through the magic of AM’s uploads, but I never go back to reminisce these type - they are always too difficult to get through - but yeah, thanks rustyanneyakelcooks, for steering me back to Bessy’s birth, it’s a nice memory.
@@purepoison618 you are more than welcome. It's wonderful to remember those little ones we all began with... my favorite is always and forever Dopey and Reddy , his mom.
I love these videos, Nothing like the Sovanna"s group, there's so much Abuse at Sovanna"s that the Mama's are abusive to their babies, But not here. There's lots of Love given more like humans, Like they're supposed to be. Thank you very nice video of the life of Monkey's without being abused. You don't film them having their baby's, 😊 not like them Sovanna punks.
I think it was on JW's channel, but I haven't seen anything from him in 4 weeks. That was his last post actually. At least that was the last thing that I have seen.
Huge baby. Sounds like one of Gaby's offspring. Cute, troublemaker, Georgy born in 2021 was and still is a big boy. He is alive and thriving. Georgy looks very different compared to his baby face. This nut just keeps growing. You can often see him with his mom and baby sister Gilly. Georgy is one of my favorite macaques so I'm always looking for this goofy, aggressive, dominant male. He is definitely an impressive male to watch as he has all the potential to becoming an alpha. Also, his older sister Gaby born in 2020 was really big. She was hit by a car at ~6 months old and sadly died. Georgy also has a big brother Gingy who was also very big at birth. He was born in 2018. He is alive and still in the troop. Gingy will probably be outed soon. Other than Gaby's offspring the only other female macaque that gives birth to big babies is Bossy. All her offspring are big to abnormally big. Bossy has had 16 babies and has only lost two. Lost a son in 2015 due to cold weather and lost Bossy Jr at ~ 1yr old. All other offspring are thriving. Bossy's older boys other than Barry have been outed. Bucky will probably be outed soon. I truly don't recall JW filming any big babies of late, but I could be wrong. Maybe a baby from the Parking Lot Troop? His main focus this year was Stormy's little brother Stevie, Stella's son. Last year was Stormy who was paralyzed and eventually died due to septicemia.
Since we have been told the youngest daughter is higher rank than the older ones, one would think Bessy could have taken her baby back, but Bolly is bigger. It just breaks my heart.
Hi Reta, of you're including Dy in your comment I think you're wrong. I've read a few comments where Dy get blamed for Betsy's death and it could be true but it could also have been Bessy herself because her attitude towards Betsy was sometimes very strange but it could also have been illness or an accident that took Betsy's life. We'll never know if there was no one seeing what actually happened. Please stop accuse monkeys for things we don't nothing about. I'm the first to change my mind if someone presented proof. Betsy was one of the first ones to be born in Bossy's troop. I think it was in the second week of May. It means she was three months when she disappeared. I never heard of a three months old rhesus macaque die from starvation especially in an area where food is served to them daily. She had teeth and wasn't milk dependent. I could be wrong though. 🤓🇸🇪
@@sallysorrentino4013 It's a tricky situation. The other mothers can't do anything as long as they're below in ranking and Bossy, she probably didn't see anything threatening in the situation. Bossy has Bolly as her right hand and not long ago she corrected Bolly to release Spizzy who Bolly had kidnapped so she could easily correct Dy. 🤓🇸🇪
I thought it took only about a week for a newborn infant to bond with its mother. Maybe it takes the other seven for the bond to solidify the other way, or for it to mature for the child (since this is the duration of its drop/forage/return phase)?
Per research it takes a few weeks. I'm sure there are individual differences or as one would call them outliers. "During the first few weeks of infant life, mothers are almost entirely responsible for maintaining contact and proximity with their infants. For example, infants tend to break contact and walk away from their mothers, while mothers follow them and reestablish contact. During the second or third month of infant life, however, responsibility for maintaining contact and proximity shifts to infants (Hinde and Spencer-Booth 1967). Therefore, mothers frequently break contact and walk away from their infants, while infants follow their mothers and make contact with them. In addition to breaking contact with infants more and more often, mothers also increasingly reject their infants’ attempts to make contact and gain access to the nipples (Hinde and Spencer-Booth 1967). In doing so, mothers encourage their infants’ independence and reduce the energetic costs involved in carrying them around." Behavior and Social Dynamics of Rhesus Macaques on Cayo Santiago by Dario Maestripieri and Christy L. Hoffman
I do like rhesus macaques. Their babies are cute with their fur colours and short lil tails. Long tails I'm not into. I don't find their babies half as cute as rhesus. I like stumpy babies too. Pigtail babies are sometimes cute. Adult female pigtails are pretty.
@katbailey1069 Did you mean Bessie? Bessie did break or terribly damage her leg when she was about one-ish? She couldn’t walk at all and I think it was her brother Barry(maybe Barney?) who carried her on his back, just as a mother would for a good week or more even, but it never healed properly or back in position I never actually noticed any deformities with Betsy, but you could be right.....
No, Bo is from Löwina's troop and Betsy was born in Bossy's troop. She probably died from illness or accident. A three months baby doesn't starve to death where food is plentiful. 🤓🇸🇪
@@Danceswithfishes I don't understand how you can say Dy was responsible when we don't know what happened. If, Dy had her when she died she's not alone responsible. Bessy, Dy and the human species are all to blame. It's we humans who can't coexist with other species and in Hong Kong we humans show it thru the sterilisation program. We sterilise healthy monkeys who's only wish is to have babies. Another thing, we humans have no right to criticise other species behaviour especial when we don't use our brains ourselves and acts like the top Predator and the worst parasites there is. The problem on this planet is the human race. 🤓🇸🇪
