It's funny how Omega is older than Hunter yet he is still 100% her dad. And Wrecker is like that funny uncle we have. They're a family alright. (Crosshair too) But oh boy, next week is going to be SPICY!
Crosshair's problem was always how his identity was his skillset and his supremacist attitude towards the regular clones. He probably didn't feel his elite-ness was properly acknowledged in the Republic and when the Empire rolled around, he figured he'd finally get his due, even without the push of the inhibitor chip. At first, he was sorta' right, since Rampart actually respected him enough to make him an elite squad leader and while he was around, probably acted as a buffer between Crosshair and the general shitty attitude imperials had towards clones. Once Rampart was out of the picture Crosshair likely got to experience the full disdain of the imperial officers. I imagine he was worn down for a while before he finally had enough in "The Outpost". Crosshair always had a strong sense of loyalty, but it too seemed attached to his concept of elite skills. When his brothers chose to "waste their skills" by deserting, that, to Crosshair, was a betrayal. At this point in time, he's learned just how much the Empire cares about his skills (not at all unless he wants to be a full on slave) and may finally be reconsidering his values. Just a little bit.
This was a really good episode, loved the way Omega showed Crosshair alternatives. I still don't like him, but this was just great, even showing the petiness and corruption of the Empire so early
Echo was tired good brother in season one, and Crosshair is tired evil brother this season, lol! Jokes aside, I loved eveythjng about this episode. The reunion was beautiful and everything I wanted. I really like the dynamic between crosshair and omega. I forsee them really influencing eachother. Crosshair teaching Omega to think more with her head, prepping her for the difficult decisions she will inevitably have to make in the empire's galaxy. Likewise, Omega getting Crosshair to think more with his heart, leading to a sacrifice he will have to make for her and/or his brothers. Theres a lot of potential in their story lines and I'm curious to see where it leads.
I find myself readily agreeing with your redemption narrative for Xhair. Well thought out - although I do not agree that he might not live at the end. It seems more and more likely that he alone (or with others) might be the Bad Batch survivor tasked with shepherding young Omega in her future growth and development.
