Just a guy trying to make his way through the galaxy and avoid any imperial entanglements. I react and discuss Star Wars, as well many other pop culture favorites. I also don't hold back my emotions.

Title of this episode should have been "Mistakes were made"! Totally agree that this was a confluence of errors on all sides. And it's interesting that the leaders of both sides had it right, and nobody listened to them. Aniseya wanted to let Osha go, and told the coven "no violence". The Jedi council explicitly told Indara's group to leave it be, and Indara herself told Sol that it wasn't for him to decide to take Osha as a Jedi, and he needed to let it go. This is very much very much a Rashomon style tale, were everyone in the story has a different view of events, and we get to see them before the truth is actually revealed. I like that, because it's another way in which Korusawa continues to influence the SW franchise. Another interesting bit is how the mother responds to Sol's "We come with noble intentions" with the line "Someday, those noble intentions you all have will destroy every Jedi in the galaxy." How much this line ties these events to the prequels! Sol is very much mirroring Qui-Gon (it rhymes?), who sees a small child in the desert that he wants to take on as a Jedi padawan against the wishes of the council, more mistakes get made, and then order 66.

Tbh, I felt underwhelmed by the end of this episode. Maybe I'm not appreciating some significant detail, or expected this alternate perspective to either alter my opinion of these characters or reveal something game-changing, but I'm just not as invested as I should be, seven episodes in. Maybe the finale will be the pay off, but if not, I'm taking Qimir and his fighting style as a positive of this show.

SO...one episode left. To explain who the sith guy is, why he is pissed, what the point of him is in this story, what happens with the twin swap, is Osha turning to the dark side, what is Sol's fate, and whatever else they decide to cram in. In a show that has delivered practically NO pace or plot development in each episode, they are gonna properly end everything in the last 50 minutes?

Thank you for this really good and insightful review and breakdown. You helped me understand some things of the episode I didn't really understand, and there are still some things I don't really get. But now I have a better understanding of what was going on, I'll rewatch this episode many times because right now I'm still a bit confused about everything that happened. 😅 But with how you explained things here I can go into the rewatch with more perspective on things. Oh, and I am pretty sure we don't know what happened to Koril after she transformed into black smoke. Maybe we'll find out in the final episode which I hope will be at least an hour long to wrap this story up properly.

I really liked this episode. The whole thing was just tragic. A series of misunderstandings and rash decisions led to such a bad ending. Mae didn't mean to start the fire. She witnessed the jedi kill her mother. No wonder she was so driven to revenge. I think the twins are going to fuse together in the last episode. All the seeds of one split into two.

@@OneProtagonistAcolyte all-flashback episode 7 was very good. I liked the references to the hyperspace catastrophe that wiped out life on some planets; of which in the last episode Jedi master Vernestra has pain/nausea from traveling through hyperspace due to her strong connection to the force. The fact that Sol was an emotional Jedi like Dooku, Anakin and Quigon Jinn was seen in quite a big way. The turn of the plot, who is responsible for the death of the entire Clan of these Witches who follow the path of Bogan = Darkness in magic, they were quite similar to the Witches of the Sisterhood of the Night from Dathomir, where Darth Maul also comes from. The fights were great, the choreography was great and seeing two Jedi fight against a possessed Wookie Jedi was great. But most of all, normally, just like Mother Cora, I felt this emotional pain in my heart. When Sol killed her partner, co-mother of two children and the love of her life, mother Aniseya, in front of her eyes. The destruction reminded me of something similar to when the Jedi destroyed the entire planet of Korriban, where the original Sith race came from.

Whole Acolite show is better then Kenobi and Book of Boba fett together. They made mistakes they turned these two project into show and not as movie. Every one of the movies by himselfe are good even 8 Last Jedi but that was mistake by one stupin man. But these film are still better then these ones down here.\/ Okay so the best trilogy of Star Wars movies from the original George Lucas era. And that: Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure; Ewoks: The Battle for Endor & Star Wars Holifays special. Ewoks: The Battle for Endor So, what do you say to me now. These ones are total strash.

I think in the last episode, the twins with switch sides. Mae will side with Sol in an attempt of rescuing Osha and defeating Qimir, while Osha will fall (at least temporary) to the dark side and stay by Qimir's side as an acolyte.

@msoundg
@msoundg 4 дня назад
20:56 I know it's a plot thing and without it there wouldn't be a story, but it's quite hard to believe a Jedi couldn't pick both girls up, instead of trying to hold both halves of the bridges. Maybe it's just because this show is really not for me. I'm aware I've let much more pass in many other shows and movies... but probably it was because I was enjoying a good story. Anyway, though I really think this episode should've been combined or right after the other flashback, at least it mobilized me enough to write about it, lol

I think the best part of this revelation is that WE know the decisions were wrong, just sad mistakes... but from what each group knew, they all made the right decisions with the limited knowledge they each had, and that is what is more heartbreaking... Also, the implication the Coven restored a dead planet shows they are NOT a purely darkside group, cause that is clearly a very light side action, so most likely a sort of balance, which is also displayed on the way Koril was clearly more dark sider and Aniseya clearly leaning towards light

There's a theory...that Koril transferred her essence into Mae, but idk. Maybe Aniseya was just trying to protect Mae?
@OneProtagonist
@OneProtagonist 3 дня назад
I went into a rewatch with that in mind, but then I caught something. When Aniseya turned to smoke, Mae started turning into smoke and it looked like they were combining. That may be the Ascension - the joining of Aniseya with her daughters, sacrificing themselves, to become the new Queen Mother.

The most important question at this point going into Episode 8 is how does Qimir/The Stranger know what happened on Brendock? How does he know what Sol's darkness is? This is basically the only question left. Venestra doesn't need her arc "solved" at this point. Sol NEEDS his arc solved with respect to what Qimir/The Stranger knows. Edit: Although I feel Venestra is going to play a big part of Episode 8. That's what my feelings say.
@OneProtagonist

I think Qimir knowing might have a simple explanation: Mae revealed it to him. She saw everything. So either by the force or conversation, he could easily know.
@ichigen511
@ichigen511 3 дня назад
@@OneProtagonist You're telling me Qimir simply just trusts whatever comes out of anyone's (let alone Mae's) mouth? He's way to connected to being the smartest person in the room at all times to just have faith in someone else's words. I don't think you understand the character.
@OneProtagonist
@OneProtagonist 3 дня назад
@@ichigen511 Like I said, through conversation or the force. He’s a manipulator. He could glean certain information from her mind, then the rest from conversation. I'm a little torn on this episode. Qimir and Osha were definitely the stronger part of the episode. I really wanted Sol and Mae's part to be better. I feel like they just don't know how to write Mae as a character. I will say the environments and tech designs in this show have been incredible. This universe feels lived in. I just feel like for everything this show does fantastically, it has something that just falls flat. Its not bad by any means, but the characters do dumb things or the way things happen dont make sense. I feel like this script needed to go through one more draft.
