Do you want to enjoy fresh and filtered water without breaking the bank? If so, you might want to check out Walmart’s Great Value water pitcher filters, which are compatible with Brita pitchers. In this video, I will show you how cost effective, functional and practical these filters are, and why you should not believe the negative reviews on Walmart’s website. Many people complain that the Great Value filters perform poorly, but they are actually making a simple mistake: they are not following the instructions. Unlike the genuine Brita filters, the Great Value filters need to be submerged in water or have water run through them prior to use. This is to activate the carbon and remove any air bubbles. If you skip this step, you will end up with cloudy or bad-tasting water. I will demonstrate how to properly prepare the filters for use, and compare them with the official Brita filters. You will see that the generic filters work just as well as the branded ones, and they cost much less. The Great Value 3-pack costs the same as a single replacement pitcher filter by Brita. That’s a huge saving! So, if you want to save money and get clean water, watch this video and give Walmart’s Great Value filters a try. You won’t regret it!

Ryan thank you so much!!! I totally understand that it must have been a user error that makes the taste different, I just bought mine great value filter, doing it exactly what is being instructed! God bless you bro!

I’m on my second 3-pack now. Following the instructions, it works fine for me. I will agree they seem to slow down faster than the namebrand, but you’re paying approximately 1/3 the price. These perform over 33% as well as the namebrand. I don’t have any real scientific ways of knowing these are providing what I expect from them besides the taste and speed but they do make my water taste great (tasteless). And they’re doing something because I’ll use a water hardness tester on a cup of filtered and non-filtered water, and the filtered is significantly less “hard.” That’s all I can say!

Just ordered a great value pitcher with included pitcher. Will buy extra great value filters too. I'm not spending $50 for Brita. Great value is fine for me.

I told no lie. They work. The flow isn’t as fast, especially after a month or so, as the namebrand filters like Brita, but they work fine. The savings is totally worth it.

Nothing wrong with using generic filters to save money, but recommending these Great Value filters is irresponsible when there are many reviewers indicate the issue with flow rate. The slow/stuck flow issue is so serious that Walmart switched supplier on these. If you want great generic filters, try Target's Up and Up store brand, or that of Home Depot's HDX brand. Both of them are made by a different company and do not have any flow restriction issue and the Home Depot on in a larger pack is actually cheaper than Walmart's Great Value.

Hi Ryan! Thanks for shedding light on using off brands vs. Name brand items. I remember with my Brita filters years ago that you were supposed to soak before putting in, so they must of changed the formula for Brita brand filters since I had bought mine back in the day (I think at Costco) Also, my comment is that I am tired of the rain! 🙌 Also, about how many pitchers of water do you get from each filter? ~beth in FL 🌴

Beth, so nice to see you again here in the comments. I hope you’re well. Bummer about the rain the opposite here as it’s been a drought basically. Today it’s drizzling of and on. The packaging says around 40 gallons of water per filter but I go way beyond that. I’m not dead yet! Thanks so much for still tuning in. Happy Thanksgiving!🦃

Are these the newest version? The new box states "no pre-soaking required" and "improved flow rate" and are made in France.

At the time when the video was posted, Walmart's generic filters were made by Protect Plus, which is a US company. I had the opportunity to speak to the company about the concern and they acknowledged they have a design issue and a large batch with manufacturing issues that caused worsen and decreased flow rate and recommend we returned the filters per their agreement with Walmart. If you are seeing Walmart has newer variant that's made in France, it's another strong indicator that the issue is real and Walmart took action to switch supplier, which they won't do unless there are a lot of consumer complaints and returns.

Are they more expensive? I’m going to have to pick up a pack.

@@SillyReviews The Brita brand filters I saw at Walmart are made in Canada. The Great Value made in France.

Great value filters sometime go very slow and get stuck.. we need to shale the cartridge repeatdly for it to work.. do you also feel the same..what was tds from great value filter ?
@SillyReviews

I think it tends to go a big slower a bit earlier but it keeps going. I’d recommend getting a large water dispenser and star repair to it. That makes life easier if you’re currently just pouring your water out of the pitcher and refilling it. Especially if you drink a lot of water. If I tend to filling the larger water dispenser for an hour or two, I can have a few gallons at the ready and not be bothered with the pitcher for a while.

Please don't listen to silly positive reviewers tell you to shake it! When you shake it, it loosen all the carbon particles inside and that's why it flows again. Guess what? You dislodged all the impurities with that shake and it all comes out in the filtered water. You are drinking a high dose of dirty water after you shake it every time. I ran controlled and scientific experiments to measure the output and the undissolved solid level shot through the roof after you shake it. I also ran chemical tests and confirmed the same. The company made it for Walmart did a horrible design on this filter, and their manufacturing quality is just as bad. If you want cheaper generic filter, go with Target's store brand that is made by a different company.

You are wrong! These are horrible. I am an engineer and I can tell the company that made it for Walmart, called Protect Plus, didn't even exercise basic physics when they designed the filter housing inlet, outlet and siphoning effect. The bad reviews are not wrong. I got the bad ones as well. I took a good look at the design and on my units, you can tell the the plastic molding for the housing was poorly done and there are a lot of untrimmed plastic blocking the bottom drain filter. This throw off the siphoning effect calculations, if Protect Plus even bothered with it. These are terrible and not fit to be sold. Please stop recommending it.

@@_w_w_ Any recommendations on who makes the best filter for drinking? I also have Zerowater pitcher. I have my doubts that Brita filters much of anything. At least with Zero Water I can test TDS.

Well I’m curious to try the new French ones. Do you think the ones made by Protect Plus were made by DEI hires?
@_w_w_
@_w_w_ Месяц назад
@@SillyReviews I don't know why DEI would get entangled in this. Protect Plus is a conservative state. As I mentioned, they developed a bad filter housing and look very poorly made in that they had excessive plastic trimming. If anything, this tells you Made in USA doesn't always mean better. And I must reiterate that you should NOT tell people to shake their filter during normal use.. it dislodges/releases impurities.
