this has the potential to be better than the original movies in my opinion. the story is more fascinating.

This was better than I was expecting. I liked the original Hunger Games franchise quite a lot in fact. I thought that this new one would just be a rehash with new actors, but it’s a prequel apparently. So I’ll go check it out when it hits theaters. As for Zegler, I think they didn’t give her too much time or lines in the trailer, because of all the recent “controversy” pertaining to her comments over the original Snow White animated feature. Not that I think there was anything particularly controversial about what she said, but it’s Hollywood…image is everything right? And it rubbed some people (conservatives) the wrong way apparently 🤷‍♂️ She’s a very talented young lady too, so this is a shame really. I hope she can weather the storm.

I suggest reading the book first and if your not a fan of reading there's always the audio book.

I watched the original HG, never read the books and don't consider myself a fan of the series (I didn't hate it, I liked it, but didn't become a huge fan like so many others). The trailer looks really, really good and I hope it offers the fans, both old and new, something to look forward to. Who knows, it might reel me in, too.

The trajectory of the Snow / Gray relationship is central to the story line. Between the book, the cast and the feel of this trailer I think this could be a really good movie, best of the bunch. The trick will be to somehow convey the essence of Snow's internal dialog to the audience. If they succeed, the ending will be quite poignant. Rachel Zegler is perfectly cast as Lucy Gray Baird, the district 12 tribute who is a performer in a travelling troupe, mercurial, flirts with everybody, is 16 going on 35 according to the Dinklage character. She sings some songs from the book which one of the movie producers describes: ' “Rachel often would opt not to do playback, and just sing it live. Often, after they would call cut, people would just go bananas clapping!” Those live on-set vocals will be included in the final product - and there’s one scene in particular that Jacobson’s especially excited for: “The big finale moment…un-fucking-believable. Her voice is jaw-dropping.” '' It was Rachel singing 'The Hanging Tree' in the trailer background. I am very much looking forward to the movie and will see it in the theater and probably will see it more than once.

Notice the first time hes was asked about the Hunger Games Snow was in Red, the last time Snow was in White, Also the same with Lucy. She starts in White and the finally in Red

Well, Rachel is not the main character. She is important to Snow, for sure, but she doesn't have A LOT of presence in the book, either.

Aye the difference in the book was we didn’t get Lucy’s POV but for this movie we can clearly see they are going to be showing part of her in the games that wasn’t visible to the cameras, like the tunnels.

Bit of a spoiler here, but from the book, I don't really consider Peter Dinklage's character, Dean Highbottom, a villain at all. He's rude and is certainly a dick to Snow, but doesn't really do anything evil beyond that. The reasoning behind his character is completely understandable, and I hope we get to see a really fleshed out portrayal in the movie. Dinklage looks right on the money so far. Viola Davis's character, Dr. Gaul, is the true villain. She is the one who essentially truly created and implemented the games and is completely psychotic. I'm loving Viola's portrayal so far. But, the real kicker is, I don't believe the story is supposed to humanize Snow at all. He's just as much of a villain in this. While it does give us a degree of understanding, the story shows us that he was essentially always this way, and just needed a few pushes in the wrong direction. I hope the movie can keep that.
