Everyone is too sensitive nowadays. They judge a movie based off the actor’s reputation instead of their talent. The movie was good and so was Rachel and Tom’s performances

While I didn't enjoy the movie as a whole, it felt really fun to be back in the world of Panem again. I was a young teen when the original movies came out. It was nice to relieve that feeling and that excitement again. I feel all movies don't have to be good, they just have to be good enough, and thats what this movie was to me.

I think you are going hard on those who enjoyed the original Snow White. Is this not the same dislike of The Transformers Movies for killing your favorite characters. Each person has their own opinions, and they are not bad people for having them. At least their opinion in this instance is not morally bad. If anything, some of the language used by Rachel Zegler is not helping to support her future movie of Snow White, if it even comes out. Don't you want to bring the original fans from that old classic to this new on.

The movie itself was pretty good for me considering i know multiple people that read the book beforehand. I didn't read the book and still was able to follow the story. Rachel Zegler was great as Lucy Grey and it showed how being in the hunger games (much like Katniss) means sometimes you can never go back to full trusting people. This manifested in both Snow and Grey. The ending can be confusing if you haven't read the book, even then I made my own assumptions at the end. It showed that Snow wanted to think the District people were just people but his grandmothers view was made valid to him in the 3rd act.

Campea calling people in his audience a bitch over having an opinion on someone that’s based in how she portrays herself openly is pathetic. Have your opinion that she’s wonderful and let other people find her insufferable for how she chooses to promote herself while contradicting her own views… stop trying to come off as tough John. It’s a movie review show

Because he isn't wrong? What she said isn't something I haven't heard 100 times already lol. People blame her for snow white comments that I've heard before and not from her. They yell at her for asking about her sag pay but don't realize higher paid actors were asking for their pay first before people that needed the money. You don't know her personally so how can you judge?

I didn't like that interview, she came off poorly there. It's that you take one bad interview out of millions she's done and create a whole movement that lasts for months probably longer around critiquing and scrutinizing everything she says, and basically trying to cancel her or make her a controversial person. I hate it when wokesters do it and coming from the other side as well.

I loved the film, but then I loved the book. It’s a fascinating look at power and how it corrupts. I get why some don’t feel satisfied by certain parts of the conclusion, but I thought it was more true to real people. There isn’t a gotcha moment that turns him evil. It’s not black and white. It’s very grey and complex & ultimately a young man accepting who he is - someone who chooses power/status over all else. It’s very sad in a way. I do think part 3 of it needs more time ideally, as in the book you really do end more time in that part of the story, but overall I loved it.
@ROSPoetry1

3rd act definitely needed more time to full make people see his turn to full blown evil person. Overall I ended up loving it too.
@vickster5001
@vickster5001 7 месяцев назад
I love that he’s never completely evil. It’s more someone who allows the desire for power to become what drives him. And everything he does is to try and keep / gain power/status. As soon as he knows he could have that again, he shifts. I think that final shift might be too subtle for some on screen.

Thought this movie was fantastic. I 100% agree with the pacing issues, it honestly felt longer than Killers of the Flower Moon, but the story was so interesting that it didn’t matter that much to me. All the little things about the capital in the past was so interesting to me, I’m so happy that they showed how the capital was before it got all technologically advanced. The fight scenes were very barbaric which I felt really worked (they’re just kids with no training like they had in the future movies), the sets were fantastic, and the CHARACTERS really hold this all together for me. I loved each and every character, and if anything I wanted to spend more time with them. This probably would’ve functioned better as two movies so we could get to know these tributes a bit more, but I understand that just won’t work with Hollywood since this film probably won’t make enough money to justify that. The ending was certainly weird, but they made the character of Snow so fascinating with tons of twists in the story that I was enthralled the entire time. Maybe I’m just nostalgic for the Hunger Games because I grew up with those books and movies, but I really loved it

Kris is right. It´s once again a faithful adaptation of the book that comes just like the quadrilogy with all the good and the bad inherit in the source material. I respect your opinions here and previously, but we differ on this one. Thanks for your rational Zegler comments though. Just saw the movie which I enjoyed greatly, as expected. The ending is what it is as in the book and presaged by the Wordsworth poem for whom Lucy Gray is named. I think having read the book makes it easier to deal with all the material (500 pages) crammed into movie length that creates the pacing issue for some people. I find overall your comments and conclusion to be somewhat contradictory. Maybe in retrospect and after further reflection you might modify you conclusions ?

Even with that in mind I still recognize she's an incredible talent at such a young age. She's beautiful in terms of looks and her voice and also she carried herself well in the film. Tom Blyth is also going to go to good places. Hunger Games does SO WELL on world building and production to engross me into the world. Loved the movie. @johncampea Did you read the book though first? If you didn't read the book, youre not going to understand why they had ACT III - and as much as you say it should have been shorter, sadly, I think it should have been longer, AKA should have been a series or Limited Series. It wouldnt have worked as a two part film this long after the trilogy, because... people often think two parters are cash grabs. Anyhow, I am more sad that they spent so much time in the "hunger games" portion than in ACT III which was WAY more intriguing and full of more opportunities to have really seen Tom Blythe shine as Snow. They totally missed the mark of ever trying to make him like Snow in the book - as far as the characters view of Lucy as a possession, and they missed the mark on showing the character slip into the "dark side" because of his frustrations on how to handle the emotion of "love" since it is uncontrollable, to which Snow doesnt like. Put it this way, Snow in the book says "his girl" over and over - and is possessive and has moments where he contemplates his DEVOTION for Lucy, and subsequently, questions her devotion to him, when truth be told, neither can trust each other because too much is at stake for them both. Snow and Lucy were not a good match, but they were perfect characters to play with - per say - for two actors looking to make some amazing scenes together. Any how, I have a feeling you are only reviewing the movie as it stands, not based on the book, and honestly, I still feel like it was well done for taking a look back and lightly "frosting" the emotions, drive and meaning to the story that is The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

A good movie should be able to hold on its own without needing the audience to read the book. As someone who didn't read the book, I didn't actually like the movie. It's great if the book readers enjoyed the movie, but I noticed that people who didn't read the book also didn't enjoy it as much in general. What this tells me, is that the movie is a great book imitation, but it's not necessarily a great movie adaptation. A movie adaptation is supposed to rope in audience who have not read the book. Similar to non-book readers of the original Hunger Games movies, or Lord of The Rings, or Harry Potter.

I heavily disagree with the campea crew on this, I fucking loved this movie I thought it was fantastic. I was enthralled from beginning to the end, cant wait to see it again, there definitively are some disturbing moments and it is a hard pg-13. I liked how it showed how goog people can become evil and i really liked the anakin skywalker prequels. I really like the first two hunger games movies but i loved this movie

Honestly having read the book I knew this movie had an uphill battle adapting the last half of the story, which is all about Snow learning to live in District 12 and considering having this new life. I feared two things: the pacing, and how'd they portray his inner thoughts. So the pacing was rough, you don't get to experience that life with Snow, it's more of a montage. And we don't get to see his misgivings, the signs of this snake not knowing what skin to wear. And the slow descent of his mind as his selfishness took over. It was a cool in the books, seeing that. And apparently very difficult to show and articulate in the movie. The most we got was him swatting at the mosquitoes, showing how miserable he was out in the wild. But he was optimistic about this new life, units he found the murder weapon. And everything changed. Even Lucy saw it. But the movie felt the need to articulate it, since we couldn't hear his thoughts. So when it did that I could tell they felt the pressure of not being able to show how his mind was working that whole time he was a Peacekeeper. I think the finale made sense in the book too, it was vague, he was hallucinating thinking the snake was venomous, it felt dark and eerie as he shot at Lucy Gray. I don't think the movie lived up to how mad that scene felt in the book. Overall, it think it's more enjoyable if you've read the book. I went with two friends who hadn't and they still liked it despite the end feeling rushed.

I loved the first 2 acts, but it lost me a bit in the 3rd. To be honest, I didn't even make the connection to his motivations once he found the weapons, I interpreted her running off as a sign he lost her trust over his remark about the 3 deaths. I figured she knew they were there and that's why she was adamant they carry on instead, but then she told him where the rods where so I pretty much left uncertain about his turn there in the cabin. Guess I didn't pay enough attention, lol

Not really.. for them to break even, they need around 165-200milion. They did that. To make a profit..they need to do more than 200. and for it to be called a success, it needs to do around 350-400. so the movie will make some profit...how much, I don't know. My guess is it will go close to 300. and, like I said, that's not bad for a movie that no one cared about when it was announced. And especially not bad if you compare it to Disney movies that were released recently.

For me, this is an incredible paced, acted, and written story (except for Rachel Zegler, the worst part of the movie, her acting was a no match with the rest). Tom Blyth and Viola Davis were incredible, and the girl who played Tigris, loved her. I need more from this universe, I didn't know I needed more.

A lot of people went to see the first Captain Marvel and Brie Larson was a giant jackass at the time. It was like Hannah Montana was in Hunger Games 😅 I wasn't expecting that much singing. Ill give it a 5.9, the acting was there but I didn't like the writing. The first 2 Hunger Games had this subtle writing it, I think which made it more captivating whereas this film felt flat trying to explain more than show. Tom Blyth is the star of this though.

Much of what you called "horrible pacing" was in fact due to Rachel Zegler's singing that you loved so much. Regardless of whether she is "the best singer in Hollywood", this is not a musical, While the songs in some cases might have helped to advance the plot, they don't need to be sung in full and there was not just one song but many and that in fact tended to disturb the flow of the story. I agree Tom Blyth was exceedingly good, but as the lady speaker said, Snow was such an evil but otherwise totally uninteresting character in the earlier films that I hardly care about his past history. Rachel Zegler and the others were just passable, and Viola Davis was over the top with her eyes-bulging and teeth-gritting depiction of evil - I would have preferred greater subtlety. The main problem with the film was that I don't find the relationship between Snow and Lucy Gray credible. The film offered no explanation other than perhaps physical attraction, and the third part was unsatisfactory in explaining the betrayal too: what happened was much too sudden and, in a way, unnecessary. I personally would have preferred the film to end soon after the Games, with Lucy discovering what Snow did and then she left or was killed by Snow. The ending instead came to nowhere.
